1. I've been running 21 lands for the past year, I need to switch it back to 20 seeing as the blue decks have been down lately. I used Tolaria west to help me out with find pacts if I needed them. 1 of each basic was sort of a last minute thing, I packed a swamp instead of a Mikokoto for the event to see how it would pan out for me, the reasoning for this was because I haven't seen a lot of Jund in my area the past couple of months so I thought I was safe(obviously not).
2. I like having the 1 slaughter pact in the main because it does help me a little with some of the quicker aggro decks, and seeing as I've been on the peers over spoils as of late I feel like it's a smart move or at least my games before hand felt fine with the one slaughter pact in the main, maybe it's incorrect but it hasn't really shown to be a problem for me yet.
3. I can post a sideboard guide soon(currently at work) but as far as a 16th card I could potentially want it would be a hurkyls recall. Lucky for me I dodged all the affinity in the room that day.
this was the list I was running and my matchups were as follows.
Round 1 - Skred Red - Win - 2-0
Game 1 I combo'd out on turn 4 without an issue.
Game 2 Opponent kept a extremely loose hand which ended up punishing him in the long run.
Round 2 - Jund - Loss - 0-2
This matchup is difficult, my sideboard plan was to bring all the leylines, both Grave Titans along with some number of thoughtseizes (2 for this particular round).
Game 1 Liliana just took the game over and I could never recover from her.
Game 2 Opponent just had the nuts, turn 1 IoK taking my Angel's Grace, Turn 2 thoughtseize hitting Ad Nauseam then followed up with Surgical Extration on Ad Naus, turn 3 thoughtseize again hitting Grave Titan. I feel like I should've mulled until I hit a Leyline safe hand. But I felt pretty confident in my opponent not having the hand they actually had.
Round 3 - Soul Sisters - Win - 2-0
Game 1 and 2 were just going through the motions with Lab Man for the wins
Round 4 - G/W Tron - Win - 2-0
Glad I packed the thoughtseizes for this event after running into this matchup for the next two rounds.
Game 1 Simple win on turn 4 without my opponent had zero interaction with me
Game 2 it got a little more difficult but the thoughseize in my opening hand helped me get the win. Opponent kept a hand with only one way to find tron in which I ended up choking him on. Took the Sylvan Scrying from his hand and left him stranded with a Karn, Ancient Stirrings and zero eggs to help him fish for the additional tron pieces.
Round 5 - G/W Tron - Win - 2-0
Game 1 natural turn 3 win this game
Game 2 played through a Karn and ended up winning through a Lab Man.
Round 6 - Draw to make top 8
Quarterfinals - Merfolk - Win - 2-0
Game 1 opponent tapped out which allowed me to win during my following turn
Game 2 was a little more difficult, Opponent brought in several cards to help battle through the instant win. They were stuck on 1 island and was trying to figure out how they could get to Kira to help with Lightning Storm. I ended up having 2 Ad Nauseams to play through double Cursecatcher, 1 Ad Naus was cast on opponents turn when they were trying to float double blue with a Merrow Reejerey to help cast the Kira. Forced opponent to sac both cursecatchers with my pitching a SSG to the first one. Following turn I cast the second Ad Naus for the win.
Semifinals - Burn - Loss - 1-2
This was my round 6 opponent who I drew in with. I felt confident in this round because Burn is generally pretty easy for this deck.
Game 1 I just get blown out by my opponent and not running into a Unlife.
Game 2 I have double leyline and a Unlife in play, my opponent gets me down to 2 life before I draw into the Ad Nauseam to win the game
Game 3 I kept a extremely loose hand knowing that my opponent had destructive revelry in their deck. Kept 4 lands double Unlife and a Angel's Grace just hoping to draw into cantrips and combo pieces. Drew nothing but lands for 4 turns in a row while my opponent drew everything they needed.
Overall it was a great run with the deck, I've been playing the deck for a little over 2 years now.
With the two events I've gone 4-4 and I think most of my losses have come with lack of knowledge on the deck, such as when to mulligan hands against certain decks and knowing when I need to go faster than my opponent as far as comboing. Overall though I love the deck and it's definitely going to be my pet deck for future events, I plan on moving forward with a couple of changes.
I'd like to add one more Myr Battlesphere or Wurmcoil Engine seeing as the madcap nearly killed me a time or two. Then a couple of changes to the sideboard all meta related so posting those would be of no effect.
There's a GP in my area in the next couple of weeks so I'll be putting the deck down for that event and running either Ad Nauseam or RG Breach for the event. Once that's over with I'll be focusing on tuning this deck more and more cause it's some of the most fun I've had playing modern as of late.
Can anyone post a recent list they've been running? As well as a list that may include Madcap Experiment? Just recently bought into the deck and I wanna see what others are doing with their 75. Thanks!
4x Faithless Looting

Have been throwing the idea of playing Greater Gargadon around to avoid things like Anger of the Gods, and Path to Exile. With that I'd try some number of Bridge from Below as well to run along side of it. I saw Magus_of_the_Moon running a list with those cards and thought it'd be a good idea to toy with them as well. I'd be dropping a portion of the Rites package to make the room for the cards. But I think want to keep Elesh Norn in the list for right now.
I also like the idea of abrupt decay in the 75, but lightning axe will also handle scooze and WW plus it gives us an outlet to throw a dredger in the graveyard.
I like having my green sources and loam package, but I'm also playing a rites package where this list isn't running that. I'm on board with the leyline package as well, I feel like burn is a rough matchup for us as I've yet to run into it.
The mana base has been fine for me, I have decided that I need 1 Forest, 1 Mountain in the deck though because of path, GQ style effects though. Failing to find has made my opponents laugh though.
I played another event on Saturday and ended up taking 1st place in the event with my updated list in the previous post.
My rounds were :
Infect (2-0) - W
Suicide Zoo (2-1) - W
G/R Tron (2-0) - W
In the Tron matchup I didn't really see the need for GQ style effects because I just went faster than him, but I also can see the argument for it, as GQ can also help us in the matchup as well.
Played Dredge again tonight at the local FNM. I played the list I posted previously with some changes.
The changes I made to the list before the FNM were :
1. move Elesh Norn to the main deck, move Iona to the board
2. move Zombie Infestation to the board, move 2x Gnaw to the Bone to the main.
My matchups tonight were
Jeskai Control (2-1) - W
Boggles (2-1) - W
Kiki Chord (2-1) - W
BW Hatebears (0-2) - L
After playing another event with the previous list I posted, I found out some changes that I need to make to the list. This is the next list I'm going to try tomorrow at another weekly event if I get the chance to go to it otherwise I'll be playing this next Wednesday.
4x Faithless Looting
3x Life from the Loam
2x Gnaw to the Bone
2x Unburial Rites
2x Lightning Axe
2x Mana Confluence
4x City of Brass
4x Gemstone Mine
4x Copperline Gorge
4x Dakmor Salvage

1x Unburial Rites

2x Ancient Grudge
2x Dark Blast
1x Gnaw to the Bone
1x Boseiju, Who Shelters All
1x Iona, Shield of Emeria
1x Lightning Axe
So last night I took this list to a local WNM event and went 2-2. Easily could've gone 4-0 if it wasn't my first week with a dredge deck and remembered my triggers on some of the cards -_-.
4x Faithless Looting
3x Life from the Loam
2x Zombie Infestation
2x Unburial Rites
2x Mana Confluence

Overall I think this deck is powerful, I plan on making some changes to the main deck and the board because I wasn't happy with some of the cards.
My first fix is to move Elesh Norn to the main and to move Iona to the board, every match I played last night I wanted Elesh Norn in instead of Iona.
Second change I plan on making is cutting Zombie Infestation completely, I don't know if I want to replace it with a 3rd Unburial Rites and just leave all 3 heavy hitters in the deck or if I want to move some Gnaw to the Bones into the main deck. I'm gonna try it both ways and see which is better.
I'd like to fit in more Ancient Grudge as well, the list I found had 2 in it but I could on locate one copy of mine so I replaced the second copy with a leyline(which was helpful) so I think if we move Gnaw/Rites to the main then we replace them with Grudges.
My matches last night were :
Griselbrand Shoal (2-0) - W
Infect (1-2) - L
G/W Hatebears (2-0) - W
Pili-Pala Combo - (1-2) - L
In the infect match I missed two triggers they cost me game 1, after figuring that out I didn't let the trigger slide again for the night.
Against the combo deck he just drew the nuts in game 3 and put me on 3 relics right away so we went to play the midrange game and just just drew combo way too quickly. This matchup made me want more Grudges.

I ran this list last night at my lgs, I went 3-1 only losing to UWR Geist. Beat RUG Delver, Burn and 8rack. I feel confidant in this list and moving forward I'm going to find a place for some spreading seas and a dispel or two in the board. I'm moving from Ad Nauseam to this deck for the next couple of months and will be posting updates.
Also played a couple of games outside of the weekly against the CFB Eldrazi list and won 3 out of 4 against it.
