Hey! It's been a while since I last posted here or played with this deck (or Modern, at all).
But GP Sao Paulo is getting close and I'm planning to take my bogles out of the box and play it there!
Do you guys have any insights on a returning Bogles player? There are some decks in the meta I'm unfamiliar with. I read Hollow One is a pretty sasfe matchup for us, but how about Humans and Death's Shadow?
In what cases should I mulligan untill the Sideboard cards show up?
This makes me ask so many questions that the only thing I can really say to it is "why"?
I think my biggest question is why it's black. Like, I get that black can exile stuff, but...
A) White is traditionally a hoser color
B) White traditionally runs these one mana exile effects
C) White could also actually use the help to be more of a solid Modern color.
but maybe I'm thinking about it too much.
I can answer the B one at least: MaRo often says that while White is allowed to exile creatures, the 1 mana exile spells are considered a mistake, at least color pie wise. Black is supposed to be the best color in creature removal and it is quite hard to top Sword to Plowshares or Path to Exile. So at least in Standard they are avoiding making White removals better than Black removals
It will feature the notorious evil elder dragon Nicol Bolas, and all five Planeswalkers in the set, Ajani, Tezzeret, Liliana, Sarkhan, and Vivien, have come into contact with him and been “profoundly affected by his machinations.” Helland promises it’s a fun theme for the set.
So it seems we have all planeswalker cards in the set confirmed!
Or it could be Storm Entity as an Izzet card in GOR/RNA (While storm is a broken mechanic, I don't think this creature is super problematic).
Maybe Yixlid Jailer as a hoser if any major Graveyard mechanic is about to come.
No matter how great or bad an environment was the last time we visited the plane, it says nothing about how it will be the next time we visit the same plane.
RTR played differently than original Ravnica. Same is true for BFZ and original Zendikar, SOI and original Innistrad and basically every block set on Dominaria
Thad said, my two cents are on Return to Theros and Norse world.
The one thing that makes me unsure about Theros being before Ravnica is that rescuing Elspeth seems more likely as a task before dealing with the Phyrexians (as she has a backstory with them) rather than dealing with Bolas. However, the one who would lead the recue would be Ajani, that seems much more worried about Bolas than the Phyrexians.
Either way we might spend some time introducing a new major interplanar threat before we deal with the current ones.
I'm on either Theros or Ravnica as the next Return set.
But the fall set could be a new plane, though I guess a return will be on this annoucement anyway
I believe Dominaria is the set with the major Fungus/Saproling theme and has been hinted with Rivals of Ixalan minor Saproling theme.
Concerning return planes we have Ravnica and New Phyrexia with upcoming critical events in the story. I guess Ravnica will happen sooner than New Phyrexia, so it might be hinted in this annoucement. Though I believe they'll still go somewhere else to gather more allies before Ravnica: Infinity War.
I guess a return to Theros is also iminent. Rescuing Elspeth, meeting Gideon's past and adding Ashiok to the Gatewatch's enemies team seems likely. And Elspeth being realted to Phyrexians indicates she's a possible ally for the New Phyrexia quest.
For new planes we've been hinted about Regatha, Vryn, Kaldheim, whatever plane Angrath is from, norse mythology plane and maybe rome based plane.
Regatha and Vryn are directly related to Chandra and Jace, and since we had sets focusing on both of them recently (Kaladesh and Ixalan) I don't think we're going there that soon. In fact, Gideon is the one lacking this throwback moment, so Theros seems very likely to me. Nissa too, but she just left for Zendikar. But I think we'll eventually meet her, either with or without the rest of the Gatewatch around.
Other character that I guess will be soon reintroduced to the story is Garruk. Nut sure where he's wandering right now though.
Other than main standard sets we might see more info on Commander 2018, whatever Master Set they are planning for the upcoming months, some deck product and maybe a Brawl focused deck.
Shalai is a White card with green ability
Kazarov is a Black card with red ability
Wathever card is supposed to have a blue ability would either be an enemy color or repeat one of the mentioned above (which seems unlikely).
Not sure it is a full cycle, but I guess it will balance the fact that not every color pair gets a legendary rare. We know GR has Grand Warlord Radha and maybe they are counting Oath of Teferi towards this. So we would miss a UB legendary creature, that could be a blue card with black ability.

Flavor text says

Fingers crossed!
Also, #002 is most likely white, as stated by the firs post in this page, and would fit perfectly as an Akroma reference.

37 green cards is the maximum, but other colors seems to be getting 38
Kind of
They're showing few cards a day, but official spoilers start next week!
