MTG Salvation

I might be on the ban mania train at this point. I'm just so tired of watching things be the way they are. This isn't good Magic. And by "good Magic" I mean it actually feels like Magic. For example, Gitaxian Probe is a card I like having banned because it's not good Magic. It's borderline free for perfect information and it make you play 56 card decks. This isn't "good Magic."

In the same vein, I'm having a harder and harder time enjoying Modern. I dislike how Modern is defined by degeneracy (however you choose to interpret the word, it's how Modern has felt to me for a long time). I'm tired of there being these insane cards that enable so much absurd things. I'm tired of how UW is now my only control option for the most part. I'm tired of the gymnastics of testing new decks in an effort to enjoy this format again. When I first started playing the format the deck diversity was great and there were options, oh so many options. Now I feel like I have to be playing a deck I dislike playing in order to do well. I don't want to play Dredge, Phoenix, Humans, Tron, maybe Amulet. I don't want to feel forced into playing UW if I want to play Control. Maybe I just dislike how this is another phase in Modern's history, and I need to suck it up and just keep going. But at this point, I can even enjoy playing the format anymore. I don't feel like the format is diverse anymore. I feel like my options in order to compete keep getting smaller.

Maybe I'm not a fan of the Graveyard Check people were talking about earlier. I'm I being unfair to the format here? I just can't get behind the format and need something to reinvigorate my interest once more.

Mark, you specifically were huge for me getting into the format and forums. As a young person looking to get into Stax, I spent hours reading through the RW Stax/Bridge Prison primer and brewing with it. I guarantee you what we're working on is gonna be sick.

It's definitely heartbreaking to a lot of us, but being here has been one hell of a ride. I've grown a lot since coming here, mostly because I joined up and was subsequently brought into the mod team while in high school. Maybe in that regard saying I've grown a lot is, well, inevitable and actually doesn't say much about the how MTGS has influenced me. All the same, despite working on something new, I'm really going to miss this place. I've dumped so much time into this site it hurts to see it leave. I feel like a different woman than I was when I first started (although I wasn't a woman to begin with, so I guess my mileage may vary), but I've seen so much come and go in this community. It wouldn't trade this community away for the world. We've had our ups and downs, along with State of the Meta being... well, State of the Meta (long may it reign!), but I've loved interacting with every single one of you.

Mark my words, I will make our new home better than what we have here. We're gonna make something awesome, just you wait.

I feel like I need to reiterate the article: We are building something new. It's gonna be awesome, you'll see.

Can you imagine if they did ban Serum or Opt? I wouldnt just sell some stuff at that point, I'd completely liquidate.

I just watched Cheon's stream where he is practicing for the pro tour. He was playing Jund in a league and dropped because he couldn't win a game. Too many tron and combo decks. Midrange is in trouble in this format guys. Eldrazi is the new midrange apparently.

Shocklands are garbage, duals ETB untapped without you having to pay life. Can't believe they're format staples.

Quitting Modern to play Vintage now (Legacy is for plebs, why play Lotus Petal when I can play Black Lotus. Also, Ancestral Recall > all your bull***** cantrips).

When I built this deck I went heavy on counter spells including spell snare and no flickerwisps. At the time, more people were on the counter magic version. It seems now that most people are on the flicker version. I haven't tried it. Can someone who has tried both give me any input?

I personally like this list and have been having win more then we lose.
