WarMachinePrime is speaking with his dollars, as do I for other aspects of MTG, but the problem is that not enough people care enough about the same issue he does to the extent that it is worth it to not buy something they want. If they did then a change of some kind would be made, but they don't, and it is in WotC best interest to listen to the people that feed the bottom line, not the vocal minority. That doesn't mean you shouldn't speak with your dollars (or other currency), because I firmly believe that it is personally important, but realize that if others don't agree with you then your financial ethics practices are not going to change anything. In the end you should feel good about how you spend your money.
Agreed. I can only lead by example and hope others will follow suit. One caveat I would add is that it is everyone's own money to spend, but EACH person must be prepared that the value of their "investments" in these cards could be nonexistent some day. Doubtful, but possible. Nothing in life is guaranteed except Death and Taxes. No pun intended. Enjoy the game but no one has a RIGHT to expect a return on their purchases. Entitlement mentality is a cancer.
Does ability of Conduit of Ruin allow you to cast/play Myr Superion for 0 mana (free) as long as it is the first creature spell of a turn? Apologies if this one has come up already.
Deck has done decently well against Burn and Living End in limited playtesting. 3-1 and 3-1 in Game One situations before side boarding against those. Even had my opponent shaking his head over a win against his Jund deck with a Holy Mantle on a LB T'blazer swinging for the win through his 3 creatures. Still need a lot more testing/playing and it definitely has some holes in it. Sure is fun to play though.
Reprinting any card on the Reserve List is breaking their promise, whether they reprint Leeches or Black Lotus.
At the time General Motors "promised" the Pontiac division was going nowhere, it would not get the axe. Where do I buy a Pontiac now? And where are all the lawsuits against General Motors from Pontiac buyers who sold on average 200,000 to 300,000 new Pontiacs a year?
Never say never. Corporations can and do change their minds. To say they won't is foolish. Promises get broken all the time in the corporate world. Legally binding documents are another story altogether. The reserve list is NOT a legally binding document.
My workplace has a workplace policy in force. It has changed several times over the years and I assume it will change in the future. Policy is just that, POLICY, not legally binding contractual law that cannot change. Things happen, policies change. NEVER SAY NEVER.
Thank goodness Zephid is on the list. I'd hate to see its 50 cent bulk card status put in jeopardy.
Truth is Wizards could easily de-list many of the cards on this list with no impact and then try it with some of the Legacy/Vintage staples and go from there.
Oh don't get me wrong, I'm sure it won't as well, but there is always that small chance with something like this that it might happen and the list will disappear.
I agree. People who adamantly refuse to believe it can't happen amuse me. I see it as highly unlikely but to say with 100% surety that it won't happen is foolish. Frankly I think they would take a small step first by de-listing some of the reserved list and seeing what would happen at that time. Easing into the pool instead of just jumping in. If money is to be made it can and will happen someday. When? Who knows.
In the whole, what do we really want? People hoarding cards and selling them out for $$$ or people playing with the darn things?
I don't mind a little collectibility with a lot of play. Maybe a 20/80 split. But when it gets to the place it seems to be right now in the eternal formats it seems like an 80/20 split and cards are being treated like stocks.
"The purpose of this subforum should be fairly apparent." It should be apparent that as a child forum of Speculation (a forum which exists to speculate on future sets), the content within will be geared towards future sets. The Reserve List is something from the past which is NOT going away no matter how much players kick and scream or create forum threads. There is nothing to speculate on so the mods were absolutely correct to request that you move the discussion to a more appropriate forum.
You conveniently ignored the part that I put in bold. I will post it again. "Any topic, any guess, any wish, is fair game." That line should be removed from the first post in that thread because it is blatantly UNTRUE! If you all choose to ignore your own guidelines I feel it speaks volumes of the character of an individual. I am going to leave it at that.
Back to the topic again:
Could have spent $$$ at my LGS today on BFZ packs but refused the temptation, bought singles instead. $30 isn't even a blip on the radar, but if say tens of thousands would do the same every time they frequent their LGS it could start to show up on Wizards radar as those stores sit on packs and don't reorder. Chipping away at the stone.
The deck thinning argument has been proven bunk countless times. Anyone using fetches for that purpose is misinformed.
I agree. I understand the arithmetic behind the theory, but in practice it seems nearly pointless with this deck. I'll take the extra life and "thicker" deck. And all those fetches leaves it far more vulnerable to Blood Moon as well.
Personally my only avenue is to not buy new product off the shelves and just buy singles that I want. There is strength in numbers. If more follow this path it could make them reconsider. I doubt it will but I see a time coming if they alienate too many eternal format buyers/players that it will bite them in the rear. I don't mind starting small and making contacts though. Looks like I need to start pestering Wizards via e-mail. Chip away at the stone.
Since the "powers" at be have silenced me in another thread, I will continue it here, where it is deemed worthy. I do want to mention this quote from the thread to remind administration and moderators that they should be held accountable to their own guidelines and not act in an unfair and arbitrary manner.
The purpose of this subforum should be fairly apparent. Here, you can post ideas without the burden of evidence required in the main Speculation subforum. Any topic, any guess, any wish, is fair game.
Obviously not and I will not stand idly by.
Back to topic, I will ask my question again.
What would be an effective method to convince Wizards to either end or de-list certain cards from the Reserve List? Your thoughts? Any strategies that could work besides forum chit chat and gnashing of teeth?
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately that thread is months old and "stale". I like discussion while the topic is hot so to speak. I'll keep it in mind for sure. I'm fully expecting this one to get shut down, which I find a shame.
How about brown mana? You know, waste, brown? Toilet humor.

T1: Plains, Ox or Lagonna-Band Trailblazer
T2: Forest, Assault Formation, attack for 4
