Wondering if bouncing a permanent to top of opponents library may actually be better than tapping down 4 permanents. Almost like a Worldbreaker-Lite. I don't like the 4 toughness though. Dies to Dismember where Elder Deep-Fiend does not.
I am going to have a good chuckle, if this card ends up in some Modern Superfriends deck that goes Top 8 at a big Open. Someone out there is going to brew it and make it work. Wait and see.
(I feel like Linus waiting for "The Great Pumpkin".)
Trust me if I were actually upset I'd be at it long ago =P
It's just not a new discovery either, we had that deck before, though maybe replacing Trader with Offering instead (and run a few Traders as extra copies) would make it better. It certainly makes it faster and less telegraphed and less vulnerable.
No problem.
Don't forget that sometimes old ideas can become "new" ones again if the right cards come out. With that said I don't think we have to worry about this becoming a Tier 1 deck any time in the foreseeable future.
And nobody is claiming it is something that it isn't. Its not a matter of "will it work", its a matter of can it be assembled and made competitive. (Which I highly doubt as well.) If this was suggested in a Making a Competitive Deck forum/thread it would be out of place. Here it is not. Looking for lines of play is NEVER a wasted exercise. Of course 3 card combos are worse than 2 card combos. No one is arguing that. Suggestions are just that suggestions. Relax and go with it.
I'm still waiting for someone to explain me why a gimmicky 3-card combo is more appealing than just running a BRx control-ish deck that uses Harmless Offering + Demonic Pact as an eventual win condition.
That's because you just asked the question. We aren't mind readers.
The question asked was does anything combo with Harmless Offering. Some of us are being constructive and throwing out ideas. Doesn't mean they are GOOD but they are ideas. Relax.
Definitely not better than World Breakerin lists that run G, but in a strictly colorless list (like I run) I'm wondering if it might have a spot instead of say Deceiver of Form. I'm always looking for a 7,8 or 9 mana colorless creature that I can tutor with Conduit of Ruin in case I can't cast a new Ulamog or new Emrakul. I just want a 7 or 8 mana Wurmcoil Engine and it seems it isn't going to pop up this set.

I can tutor it up with Conduit and Sanctum.
It dodges Dismember.
Taps down up to 4 permanents.
Flash could make it a nice end of opponents turn lockdown.
Dislikes:
"only" 5/6 for 8 mana
lacks any evasion
lacks lifegain or removal
Can't pay the Emerge cost in a colorless list.
Well if you noticed in the recent spoiler we are getting a spell that is modern legal and can now "donate" any permanent we control.
now that we are getting a spell that can do this, it opens up a new line of play. my problem is I don't immediately see modern's equivelant of illusions of grandeur for a true 'trix" deck.
closest I have so far is Demonic Pact, but it takes 3 turns before you "donate" it to an opponent who is left with only the you lose the game option.
what else does modern offer that can be donated to an opponent for the win?
I would kill for a good 7 drop. Running Deceiver of Form right now as a 1-of but imagine if we could have a colourless threat at 7 that was in-line with World Breaker. Synergy with Sanctum as well; we could hard cast it on T3 with natural tron (or map+tron). Something with a cast trigger or a form of protection; it would give EldraziTron our Wurmcoil Engine that Tron has.
All the time I wish Wurmcoil was 7. I'm right there with you. Keep your fingers crossed.
Good card is good, but I'm much more interested in the implications of even more (possibly cheap) Eldrazi coming into Modern.
I am particularly interested in this point for EldraziTron - if we get a few more cards like TKS or Reality Smasher we might be able to hit critical mass on our lower cost threats. The other issues with the deck is the lack of options for colourless spells; more Eldrazi Spells (so we could tap Temple for them) would be amazing. Like All is Dust but lower cost version of typed removal. Spatial/Warping Wail suffer from not being typed.
Edit: I certainly hope that the horror-fused angelthing turns into an amusing 6-8 drop. It would give me such glee to drop it on people.

I'm just not sold on Whispers of Emrakul. I'd rather have Wrench Mind in that slot I think.
I'm actually interested in Collective Brutality somewhat. I may try it in my Grim Lavamancer slot. I'll post up my current list soon.

Also my first impression on the new Lily is that she has ZERO chance of making it into 8rack.
Liliana, the Last Hope
And Oath of Liliana seems borderline in a budget 8rack build on first inspection. Maybe I'm missing something.
Plus I've always been a sucker for free casting cost cards.
No problem.

Use Bazaar Trader as an additional source as suggested above.
Just spitballing.

Abyssal Persecutor
Doesn't seem that good though.

No guess on the flip condition yet.

How about for 7 so we can tutor it up with Conduit of Ruin.
