    Hi

Thanks so much for the 3 who answered. Amazingly I understood quite a bit. It's nice to make sense of some of it. (Thxs Rezzahan and FunkyDragon)
I just went to target and purchased The arena starter kit (Thxs WarMachinePrime)

    Patrick

Glad we can be of help. Familiarize yourself on the game with those starter decks and then go from there. It all depends on your imagination and your wallet. Wink

Feel free to ask questions as well. Smile

I will keep this short I don't want to tackle too many questions.

Take a look at this website. (No I do not work for them, but I do quite a bit of business with them.)

    https://www.cardkingdom.com/catalog/view/3006

There are also these that Wizards produces. You can get 2 decks for literally 7 bucks at a box store (Target or WalMart, if they are in stock.

    https://www.amazon.com/Magic-Gathering-Starter-Ready-Play/dp/B093CHZ62N/ref=dp_fod_1?pd_rd_i=B093CHZ62N&psc=1

They are EXACTLY what you need to dive into a duel of Magic the Gathering. I would suggest buying 2 of the Rookie Decks or just one of the Magic Arena starter kits so you can duel against a friend whom is also learning. Don't worry about Magic Online, don't worry about Magic Arena, don't even worry about Commander until you get your feet wet in the 1 on 1 of a duel. Wizards of the Coast no longer sells "Intro Decks" so these Rookie Decks and Starter Decks are EXACTLY what you need to learn. I will leave it at that. No need to overload you at this point, you will discover anything and everything on your own but I would first discover how to actually play and that is through trial and error. Don't worry about your age, I've been playing since 1994 and am 51 years old, and still learning a little bit here and there as I go along. Good luck and seriously look into those "Rookie and Starter Decks". Smile

To follow up on this I will have to change my stance. These are going to fail and fail hard.

WM is selling these at $55 USD a pop. Epic fail. Wish I would have preordered months ago at those super low prices. And unless I can find them for $45 or less I will pass.

When a new player sees this at $55 in a small box and "just" 75 cards sitting right next to a Commander box much larger, 100 cards plus tokens for just $42 dollars and is played everywhere, which one are they going to choose 9 out of 10 times?

Prices should have been just like the Standard Challenger decks. GREED GREED GREED WotC and/or WM!!!

UPDATE: About 42 USD each on Amazon currently. I ordered 2 before the prices go up. They should still be around 30 USD each. Frown

What's next put paint on a chicken's feet and let it make a magic card?

I suppose if ALL the proceeds go to charity it will be worthwhile.

Monster Movie Marathon will the the second SLD that I will order. Love the look of the cards and I play those so yep why not.

I like the Mirrodinsanity cards but you really should get a playset of each. At one copy they can keep them for that price.

    Disappointed no Barb. Frown

Would love to see a Steve, Nancy, Joyce and Jonathon as well. Maybe a second drop at a later date for those characters.

I may pop on these if its 30 bucks for all of them. If not I'm not that big a fan and I don't play Commander anyway.

I have tried playing the game with the welcome decks they offered. I didn't really like it at all. It just felt clunky and a bit too predictable in a way. Its not for me. As for the games "growth" it seems overhyped and being driven by investors trying to make a buck. The growth needs to be organic for the game to survive. I don't see that happening. I wish them luck but I am not on board.

you know you dont have to put your email there. Filled it out without email due to this being your first post.

Yep but what's in it for us to fill it out? My time is money.

You've already wasted time asking the two questions on this thread. You probably could've finished it by now. Just ignore the survey if you don't want to take it.

Its my time to spend on the thread as well. And yes I will not take the survey. I would urge others to do the same but they are free to choose. OP hasn't answered my question though so I will check in for a response I won't waste any more of my time responding to you though. Wink

Picked up a few of the tokens at my LGS this weekend. Including several of Ichabod Crane. Wink Couldn't find the Vampire one or the UB Zombie. Will keep my eye out for them. I have a feeling the RB Vampire ones will be back in Crimson Vow.

I am not totally against a set like this. I think the concept is interesting. My problem with it is the time of release and taking up valuable space for other sets and formats that need reprints. It makes corporate sense to sell them when and how they are doing it but it just doesn't feel right to me the consumer. Again, that's just me. If the price is good I may buy some packs but I'm not going to buy a booster box of it for sure unless its dirt cheap.
