A friend of mine had a humitilty deck. was really REALLY annoying to be beaten down by graft creatures and my fatties couldn't do much to stop them, although he never used artifacts.

Jitte would be really annoying in this type of deck... *ponders* have you put together a deck and tested it?

    EDIT: Replenish, maybe?

heh. maybe its just me but i cant wait for rav to rotate out! im looking forward to lorwyn and also seeing how established decks handle loosing all those duel lands. sure TS block has its own mana fixers but not as many as rav... bring on the rotation!

*ponders if the chicken would be called mistform ultimus.* Wink

I always thought it would be amusing to have a drinking game where your life is represented by 20 shot glasses. each time you take damage you shot and when you gain life you get some empty shots to buffer your life total. i.e so you dont have to drink... for this reason martyr of sands would be banned

what about using jhoira of the ghitu to suspend and then using twincast to play it more then once the turn it goes off?

Magus of the mirror could be handy against it but it would be pretty hard to get it to work well.

5/1/2007 If a nonblack creature comes into play and Grave Peril triggers, then another nonblack creature comes into play, Grave Peril will trigger again and destroy only the last creature to enter play.
5/1/2007 If multiple nonblack creatures come into play at the same time, Grave Peril will destroy only one of them. Grave Peril's ability will trigger multiple times, but only the first one to resolve will do anything.

You are right in that it triggers multiple times however, it doesn't work as you say and it will only kill one creature. Also... in your first post you didn't mention summoners pact at all.

Now, the deck needs a few things to work right, but I can't decide if I want to go with a MBA approach with lots of black creatures, or if I want to go with a combo-style approach. A mix of the two would be nice, but I'm having a hard time finding the right cards. Mirri and Deepcavern Imp seem like a nice fit, with haste, but I can't decide where to go from there.

pretty sure it does work as grave peril reads "when a nonblack creature comes into play" however, it will only trigger once and then you must sacrifice it, and if they decline to put a nonblack creature into play and you only have a nonblack creature in hand after playing grave peril (which you said you would do)... it would be bad so im assuming you would use a black creatures as a victory conditions.

Also, grave peril only applies to creatures... so they could put anything else down and invalidate grave peril

the secondary market is any magic product not being sold by wizards (like 99% singles)

Blink would be good with the Dreadnought and a Pandemonium in play if: with the Dreadnought's comes into play ability on the stack, you blink the Dreadnought, setting up a second trigger of 12 damage to be directed.

correct. 24 to the face with 3 mana is nothing to laugh at, not that anyone would let you get away with it.

What fuels WoTC is the secondary market in the current T2, when the buyers are buying BOXES and BOXES of Product from Wizards so they can get those few chase rares to sell as singles.

Im not a business student... but i thought the secondary market was players selling to other players... not stores selling to players... if that is the case wouldn't you example be primary market? or have i messed up the definition?

I, for one, will not be able to play unproxied legacy decks in the near future... the mere thought of it makes my bank balance cry... that said, this is awesome Grin

I was really looking forward to the legacy GP (forgotten its name) then someone posted the flash deck and that made me very sad to the point where i didn't evenfollow the GP. looked at the final results and went "woo, big suprise"

I enjoy watching tournaments, and more importantly i enjoy watching what people will take to them and this will allow me to see what the pro's do. I am worried, like the others, that people will just say "i haven't prepared, i will build goblins" but hey, to the players who dont... more power to you Grin

Im just wondering if someone will make a pandemonium, phyrexian dreadnaught, blink deck Wink

Heh, when i first saw the card i thought there would be much wailing and gnashing of teeth... and i got silence... and then i saw this thread and was vindicated!! Wink

while it is a good card, its not broken. as has been stated many times it dies to practically everything and people seem to be using the "god hand" example which is a one in a million chance.

truthfully there are far too many options stopping goyf, or halting it temporarily until you draw/tutor an answer to it. you can easily kill it and then extirpate, which from memory, makes goyf decks cry just like hellbent demonfire makes control players cry.

also, many other people have pointed out that clamp and jitte where not banned at the time... goyf is somewhat harder to include in a deck as opposed to 1-2c colourless artifacts.

it should not be banned. and before anyone points out, yes i know that 1 in a million chances happen 9 times out of 10 (please tell me someone gets the reference ;))

hope this makes sense but its late and im tired.

It seems odd that someone would keep playing despite you telling him not to.

    Either:
    1. You're not speaking loud enough.
    2. He doesn't hear well.
    3. For whatever, he thinks he should never need to pass priority.

well, as stated, the people playing either side of us chimed in and i know he has better hearing then me (and before you ask, yes i have a minor hearing problem) and he has perfect hearing he just didn't want to allow me the chance because he knew if i disrupted him i may be able to pull out.

This is an okay play just for protecting your shapeshifters not so much of an impact on the player with the teachings seeing as they simply "fail" to find any more copies in their library.

    ummm... isn't that considered cheating?

guy was playing pickles (me ignite memories game 2 with me in lead) and had one morph on the board. played another morph, i said wait, he played momentary blink on morph 2, i said wait (turned into brine elemental), morphed his shapeshifter copying brine, said wait AGAIN, and swung. at this point he had no cards in had and i said "thats great... now go back to the momentary blink", he said "why? you didn't respond", "yeah, i did. i said wait three times and you ignored me.", "no you didn't", the people playing either side of us turned and said "yes he did". after much debate (casualish game) i proceeded to spellsnare his blink, repeal his brine elemental and storm ignite memories for 10.
