On one hand, GGT ban means graveyard hate will likely go down a lot, which is good since our Goyfs/Scoozes/Tasigurs/Snapcasters all need the grave.

On the other hand, if big mana decks like Tron and RG Valakut rise up, it doesn't *seem* like we have a good matchup versus those? How can we change up our plan accordingly?
Time will tell on the GGT ban, but they'll adopt Golgari Thug most likely. It will probably be pretty rough for us to fight through if they don't slow down too much, but I guess we'll see.

I'm not sure if we can ever make Tron a good matchup, but I'm willing to try by upping my Thoughtseize, Negate and Disdainful Stroke numbers in the board, which are all good against Scapeshift too.

Yea, I don't think the matchup will (or honestly, should) ever be good, but I think boarding in some of cards you mentioned might be viable, especially since we likely can cut down on our graveyard hate.

It's likely that decks such as big mana Tron and Valakut go on the upswing now. Any changes/ideas we should think about to accommodate for that?

How is no one talking about Aethersphere Harvester?

    3
    Artifact - Vehicle
    Flying (3/5)

When Aethersphere Harvester enters the battlefield, you get EE (two energy counters.)

Pay E: Aethersphere Harester gains lifelink until end of turn.

    Crew 1

    It looks great for us.

    Haha

    I already jumped on mine

So did I. The lifelink and it being a 3/5 flyer means that it beats or blocks everything that flys in modern outside of infect creatures/affinity.

My only question is what we'd cut for it, and how many we'd want in our main/sideboard.

My first thought is to try two of them in the main to see how good it is. I think the vehicle is better than the sword because tapping any creature to pay for the crew cost is better than tapping mana only to have your creature killed. Just my personal opinion. Also it doesn't really matter that it only can lifelink twice. If it lives past three life link swings than you are winning anyhow.

Fair enough! You have a decklist you're trying out?

Fatal Push probably deserves looking at in this deck, since it's great at clearing out early threats that we generally don't want to wait to have to Death Cloud. Thoughts? Also, how about Yahenni's Expertise?

    BUG Death Cloud? Yes please.

One of the big weaknesses of Death Cloud was that it didn't really have a way to deal with aggro too well, since Death Cloud takes a while to get online and hurts your own life total as well.

Yahenni's Expertise might also work in that shell, dunno.

Path and Fatal Push are an almost-perfect removal package.

Fatal Push is fantastic in the early game for taking out mana dorks like Noble Hierarch and BoP or efficient beaters like Goyf without giving your opponent a land, while Path handles big fatties like Tasigur, Primeval Titan, Angler, Ulamog, and Reality Smasher.

I'm closer to the Midrange side of things. A couple pages back I was toying with a "blue jund" approach but got stuck on the removal not being good enough. Fatal Push probably fixes that. Guess I'll be back to trying to make this work.

A neat synergy that I don't think people have picked up on yet. You can activate Jace, Vryn's Prodigy, and his exile will trigger Revolt for this spell if you want to flashback right away.

That's actually a really important interaction.

JVP also works well with Yahenni's Expertise, so working well with Fatal Push is even better.

Any thoughts on the new Tezz in this deck? Being able to generate pseudo-mana rocks and being able to act as a win-con (with a fairly easy to reach ult) while sniping down something left over after Death Cloud with the minus seems possibly useful in this deck.

Does the new Liliana have a place in our deck? Seems like she could be useful since she can bring back Snapcasters and help stall out early aggression.

Not saying you're wrong or that Gideon Jura is bad in this deck, but doesn't he hit the field far too late versus Infect (and Aggro, to a lesser extent) to make a huge difference? I mean we have plenty of counterspells and discard, but even so (not trying to hate on your choice!).

The new Thalia likely has a place in Death and Taxes, the question is whether or not it's in the mainboard (and if so, how many?) or the sideboard. Thoughts?

Just realized one of the neat things about running the Thopter Package in this deck is that we can actually get use of Esper Charm's first ability and get rid of Stony Silences, which'll probably see more use now.
