Deflecting Palm is a pet card of mine that is always surprising me. It's a very fun card, stealing a game out of nowhere is priceless. Not the most powerful card but the mere presence of it in the cube makes the opponent think twice before make a huge attack when seeing a red and white source untapped.

Mike Penner's tournament report and primer are also up:

Interesting, in the sideboard guide he often takes out some, even 4, of the racks. Do you guys find this wise? Take a more control approach, i guess. I, personally, almost never sideboard out any of the racks

So guys, i have all the 8-rack base (the smallpox one, much like the Tom Ross list), but i'm missing the Lilianas and they are out of by budget right now. I know she has no replacements, but what do you recommend to put in her place, just for FNM fun purposes. I'm currently running a play set of Gatekeeper of Malakir that was lying around.

You could try Necrogen Mists, but it's really a poor substitute (though I do play one since I only have three Lilians at the moment...

I've thought of the mists, but they seemed really poor indeed, but i'll try to find some to test.

The best budget replacement for Liliana is actually Smallpox itself.

Never really thought of smallpox that way, i'll try a build with that in mind and post the results here.

    Thank you guys!

In a recent Professor's video he talks about the increase the KMC Hyper Mat splitting, in the same video he talks about the new Dragon Shields Matte and how durable it is. I think, for cube purposes, the durability is a major factor, so i'll go with DS when i re-sleeve my cube, since many people are complaining about the Hypers.

I have only one fetch, i've tried to replace them and my other missing lands with some budget versions but it didn't work very well for my cube, so i decided to proxy all my missing mana fix base, it improved a lot my cube sessions. With time (and money) you can replace the proxies.

I had a chance to test this method this weekend. Like someone had said, its like a improved sealed, i've enjoyed very much, it's quick and can provide very solid decks, certainly will be added to my list of draft methods Smile

    Your mom taking commissions?

    Thanks for your interest Smile
I'll give her a call but i live in Brazil (as she does), i think it will be difficult to her to take international commissions, assuming you are not from here of course Frown

That's a nice box! I assume it's made of wood?

Yes, it's made of wood covered with white painting and varnish. I think i would rather she had not painted, i like the aspect of raw wood, but since it was a gift made by my own mother i can't complain Smile

  • posted a message on [360]Unpowerd cube - Suggestions
Hey guys, i started my cube about a year ago, initially was a 465 card budget list (by budget i mean with the cards i already owned at time). I'm slowly upgrading it since then, and recently i cut it down to 360 cards, since i usually play with 2-4 players.

I have some land proxies while i don't get them. I only have proxy lands because in most of the drafts the decks didn't had access to the needed mana fixing and it was some times frustrating, so i decided to include the lands i needed, even as proxies.

It has some obvious cuts and additions, but any suggestions are welcome, i want to optimize the cube for 2-4 players draft. Current i'm supporting C cards and getting some good results with it.

So here is the cube: Expandable Cube 2.0

    Thank you guys Grin

Very nice article, i was looking for something like that, most of times (like 80% of my cube sessions) i do a 2 player draft with my 360 cube, usually winston, grid or winchester draft. I certainly will give this draft a try, probably tonight, it seems very fun. i'll give my feedbacks as soon as i try it Smile

Hi guys, i want to show my 360 cards cube box, it was crafted by my mother as a gift. On its top she placed the Kamigawa panoramic mountains, the interior is covered by black velvet and she made a black separador from an old desk calendar cardboard. Since the box width is a little too wide, i use the extra space for dice storage and i always keep a silica bag in it (a little tip for those who has moisture problems).

I use black ultra pro pro-matte sleeves. I'm planning of double sleeving, for now i only double sleeve the flip cards, since they are often pulled out of the sleeves.

Hey guys, i'm building an 8-rack for a while now and this is my current list:
    http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/08-07-15-you-dropped-something/

My next step is get two more Thoughtseize and 4 Inquisition of Kozilek to complete the discart base, and then some Mutavaults (more options to attack and defense) and Urborgs (for the Mutavaults) to improve the mana base. I'm leaving the most expensive cards lastly (so, no Lilianas for now).

My question is how the deck can me improved without Liliana and Ensnaring Bridge, considering its current state. And given the current list, with how many lands it would be better played? I'm testing the deck with 22 lands, with 2 Polluted Delta (just trying it out, no good results so far), but i´m really tempted to run it with only 20 lands, as a used to do (i got better results with 20 lands in previews matches).

Just my thoughts on some cards:

1 - Smallpox: Great card! I have tested running only 2 smallpox, and with my current list i had some trouble without the full playset. For a list like mine i think it is a very versatile card, and if your opponent has a bad situation with lands you can really use it in your advantage. However, with few lands in play you can really get into trouble, that's why i'm trying 22 lands, so it must be used wisely.

2 - Wast Not: Love this card, thinking in get the full playset for testing purposes! Incredibly fun, especially for casual games, in the early game and the right hand, its a ride in the park! It has its caveats in mid/end game, so i think it is better placed in the sideboard.

3 - Nyxathid - Had two of them on the deck, but i found 4 its great for a deck without Liliana or Ensnaring Bridge. Its a finisher in case you didn't draw the Racks and a good blocker.

    Thanks for the help!
