I'm surprised I haven't seen Evolutionary Leap ran with Atheros. Soooo much CA. You're not running white, but I just wanted to throw that idea out there.
I've been playtesting Rally/Company without the den protectors and Raptors and the deck seems okay. But I'm also running 3x Evolutionary Leap and 2x Abuscade Shaman. Neither of those cards are actually needed, but I love Leap and want to see it work. The shaman allows me to get to an insane amount of damage when I finally go off.
My main question is: do we absolutely need Elvish Mystic and Satyr Wayfinder? Mystic lets me play my three drops on turn two and Rally turn four if I want, but if I lower my curve then I may not need it... And we all know Wayfinder is good, but dumping a Rally or Company is frustrating... Any ideas here?
So, I havnt done it yet, but I want to Kologhans Command at the end of my opponents draw step every turn, denying them the card they've drawn and draining 2 life.
Sure, I have to spend 7 mana each of my opponents turns, but it should win the game.
I like this list. I'd probably go WBG though, for stuff like Grim Haruspex.
I've been thinking about Leap and Gift together, as Gift is a bit of a pet card of min.
That's why I was thinking about Priest of Urabrask and Burning-Tree Emmisary. Probably have to wait an extra turn for it to go off, but it basically increases the number of "zero-drops" in your deck by 8 when you run these two.
Thank you! I forgot it's name but didn't want to take the time to look it up.
And yeah, it's probably an engine intstead of a combo piece itself, but the thought of being able to put every creature in your deck into your graveyard just sparks my inner johnny and I REALLY want to see it work.
The point the earlier posters were trying to make, and the point that the other posters don't seem to get, Is that this card IS NOT a combo piece, it is a combo ENGINE. It allows you to quickly and reliably get your combo pieces.
But, if you REALLY want to make a combo out of this card, here: Tangleroot.
Yes, I do think I just broke this card. Run 4 Ornithropters and 4 Memnites, along with maybe Disciple of the Vault?
this will only do 8 damage.... you'd need something to recurr the ornithopters
lol, casual, cheap and stupid....
maybe with more than 10 minutes of thought could be something.
I would LOVE if this was somehow playable in modern, but I don't think Bloodbond March is the way to do it. March puts the creatures on the battlefield, rather than casting them, so Tangleroot doesn't generate the G.
I'm thinking like, Simian Spirit Guide and Priest of Urabrask. And that R/G hybrid 2/2 that makes RG when it ETB.

While this will increase consistency for combo decks a smige, I think it will also increase the likelihood that the non-combo decks can find their answers to stop the combo decks. It will be more skill-based. Not only "do I take a mulligan?" But also: "do I keep this scry on top or try to dig further to find what I need?"
Would it have been too much if MTG did it Cardfight Vanguard style by letting players pick what cards to keep and shuffle the rest back into the library?
This is called a "Paris" mulligan, and it's how most playgroups mull in commander. Being a 100-card format makes Paris mulligans perfect, but in 60-card formats, it's probably too good. The scry rule will be helpful for combo decks, but a Paris would make combo too good.

Break Through the Line as a one-of? Give that Husk Haste and Unblockable?
Shu Yun with Heros blade is too good to not run blue.

This would make a cool enchantment deck with Eidolon of blossoms. Could be good with Gift of Immortality as well. So many neat tricks with this card.
