If you go the Tireless Tracker route, it would be cool to add red for a singleton Girpur AEther-grid.
I think this deck really needs The Great Aurora. Turn 2 Contengency Plan, turn 3 Pieces of the puzzle. You should probably have about 8 lands in the GY. Turn 4 Reclamation gets you turn 5 Great Aurora with about 11 lands in play and 2 cards in hand. From there, you could chain Part the Waterveil or Great Auroras, or even a couple Contengency plans and/or potp then another Reclamation, netting you even more lands to Great Aurora next turn.
I've been thinking recently and first of all, I hate that it exiles itself. It would open up a really cool deck of it didn't. Imagine saccing a Matter Reshaper to grab a Goblin Dark-Dwellers, flashing back the Evolution, sac Dark-Dwellers to grab a 7-drop.
Alas, this is not the case.
As such, I think one of the best plays is Thalia's Lancers, go grab a legendary, Evolution, saccing lancers, go grab Bruna, Brunas CITP brings back Lancers, allowing you to go grab another Legendary. Off that single play, you can have something like a 4/4 first strike, a 5/7 Flying Vigilance, and I dunno, Kalitas and Thalia in hand?
God, I hate to say it... But what about Jund splashing the green for Collected Company and Noose Constrictor? Or are there not enough good madness creatures that cost under 4?
According to Gatherer, the cards from the 30-card give-a-way beginner decks are standard legal.
For the most part, this doesn't mean anything, as most of the cards are not good. But, this means that Soul of the Harvest is legal, in the same standard as Zendikar Resurgent and Cryptolith Rite. How has a crazy combo deck with these and maybe Chasm Guide not popped up?
Sorry to pull this thread back up, but I googled my question and can't find an answer anywhere.
If you have Brain in a Jar out with Harness the Storm, and you use Brain to cast a sorcery in your hand on an opponents turn, could you cast another of that sorcery from your GY using Harness the storm?
Put in another way: if you can cast a sorcery on an opponents turn somehow, would Harness the Storm ignore timing restrictions for the sorcery in your graveyard?
I've been wanting to create a deck utilizing the synergy between Sidisi, Undead Vizier and Ever After. The "combo" lets you reanimate a threat every turn. It's similar to what the GB control lists do with Seasons past and Dark Petition.
theoretically it should goldfish turn 4 wins consistently.
Unfortunately, the theory doesn't hold up. The deck is often pretty inconsistent and there are games where you can do literally anything and kill them because they're too busy durdling around with overcosted spells and slow creatures.
That's unfortunate. I guess I can see how that would be the case though. Draw madness cards but no enablers, or vice versa. I was really thinking that was going to be the deck to beat right after rotation.
I know you said any type of red aggro, but I think RB madness Vampires deserves a mention. I havnt tested it myself, but theoretically it should goldfish turn 4 wins consistently.
I'm not that much of a modern player, I've been meaning to get into it, sotm being unbanned gives me more reason too. Anyway, take my suggestions with a grain of salt.
Disclaimer: I understand that colorless is NOT a color, and that it doesn't help with Converge, I just think it's a neat name that conveys the idea behind the deck.
So, I like the combo with Displacer and Brood Monitor, but wanted to run Bring to Light to search for the pieces. So I decided to run Dark-Dwellers instead of brood monitor, the thought of flashing back instances and sorceries whenever I wanted was just too tempting.
It's basically a toolbox deck because of Bring to Light. Every card is fetch able with it, most instances and sorceries are abusable with Dark-Dwellers, and every creature either has abusable ETB effects for Displacer or needs the protection it provides.
Cards I've tried:
Wall of Resurgence: ran 2 copies for the Displacer synergy. While it helped stall out the game, it's 0 power means it didn't really provide a board presence. And I got really tired of my lands getting killed or bounced. Replaced them with 2 Grasp of Darkness. The deck has 11 virtual sorces of black mana, so the BB isn't as had to hit as you would think, and the format is rampant with x/3's that I couldn't kill.
Read the Bones: didn't quite cut it. Really good with Dark-Dwellers, but I didn't like tapping out on my turn unless it was for a threat or a kill spell, and I never searched for it with BtL. Replaced with something... Might have been the Jaces. If I could find an instant equivalent that u could search out with BtL, I might run it. Maybe Abzan or Sultai charm? I'm just worried the mana would be difficult.
Matter Reshaper: Love this lil guy, but he got bounced or exiled more often than killed, and besides ripping a lucky Reflector Mage with his ability, he didn't have much synergy with the rest of the deck. I replaced him with more kill spells like Utter End.
Cards I want to try:
I'd like to see what singletons of Siege Rhino, Wingmate Roc, Thunderbreak Regent and Sidisi, Undead Vizier could do in this deck, but I don't want to run 4x Siege Rhino like most BtL decks, I want to explore other options.
I've been having success at my local LGS, but most of them are fairly casual and I havn't been able to play many games against top tier decks. I'd like to get this list good enough to take to an Open, IQ, or PPTQ. Thoughts?
A friend and I were talking about how much fun remorseless punishment would be with Howl of the Horde I'd think three remorseless punishments should automatically win the game.
As an added bonus, think of how much fun Howl of the Horde would be with Dark Petition! Spend 8 mana, get any three cards, and get 9 black mana for your troubles!
Has anybody thought about doing an equipment version with Stoneforge Acolyte and another cheap Ally? I feel like there's a potential turn-3 win deck there.
In case anybody's wondering:
T1: acolyte
T2: another ally
T3: Ascendancy, activate cohort, digging 4 deep, hopefully hitting a bone saw or spidersilk net, casting the artifact, triggering Ascendancy, repeat the process until you cast all 8 of your equipments, then swing for something like 18 damage.
You basically dig 5 deep with each activation of cohort, with 8 0-mana equipments in the deck, you should have a decent chance at finding them all. The likelihood of comboing off should increase on turn 4 or 5, because you'll have mana open to cast cantrips or other equipments like Stoneforge Masterwork.

If you're running Graveblade, I would reccomend running a single Skeleton Key, late game Graveblade can seal a game.
Have you thought about Vessel of Nascency? Not only does it dig for your creatures or lands, it can also help you grab Leap.
And what about the Diregraf Collosus? Every time you recast Relentless dead, he'll make a token.
Also, while it's not a zombie, Matter Reshaper could generate a lot more card advantage for you, if you can handle the colorless cost.
Lastly, while I love leap, wouldn't this just be better as a CoCo deck?
That's unfortunate. I guess I can see how that would be the case though. Draw madness cards but no enablers, or vice versa. I was really thinking that was going to be the deck to beat right after rotation.
Could Ghirapur AEther Grid in a Grixis deck be worth it as a win-con?
So, I like the combo with Displacer and Brood Monitor, but wanted to run Bring to Light to search for the pieces. So I decided to run Dark-Dwellers instead of brood monitor, the thought of flashing back instances and sorceries whenever I wanted was just too tempting.
So this is what I came up with:
2x Jace, Vryns Prodigy
3x Eldrazi Displacer
3x Reflector Mage
2x Goblin Dark-Dwellers
2x Reality smasher
1x Jori En, Ruin Diver
1x Dragonlord Ojutai
1x Kalitas
1x Pia and Kiran Nalaar
Non-creatures:
4x Bring to Light
3x Sylvan Scrying
2x grasp of darkness
2x roast
2x Crackling Doom
1x Kolaghans command
1x Languish
1x Utter End
1x Ruinous Path
1x Murderous Cut
4x Polluted Delta
3x Crumbling Vestige
2x Sea-gate Wreckage
2x Flooded Strand
1x Forest
1x Mountain
1x Plains
1x Swamp
1x Island
1x Lumbering Falls
1x Wandering Fumarole
1x Shambling Vent
1x Mirrorpool
1x Smoldering Marsh
1x Canopy Vista
1x Cinder Glade
1x Prairie Stream
1x Sunken Hollow
1x Evolving Wilds

Vile Redeemer doesn't work, unfortunately. It's trigger is on cast.
Linvala seems good with Displacer.
