Ok, so my group plays sideboardless as I imagine many casual groups do. I'm look to build a deck that lets me play color hate cards and hack them to fit my match. I'm looking at U/W because I think white has better color hate than blue. Don't have a deck list yet just some potential cards. Suggestions and similar experiences welcome.
Wait Wait. Why is Profane command better? I thought he's trying to get Korlash back in his hand so he can discard him for grandeur, not put him into play?
It's in my green/white astral slide deck, and it's good. Not as good as it used to be, because as mondu said there's a whole lot of shuffle tech; but still I win the majority of games when I play it on turn 4. I can't offhand think of a game I lost where I played it on turn 3.
80% of the games I play are three of four player games if that effects the suggestions you're going to be making. I'm the only one in my play group without a tribal deck and I want something that's gonna be able to hang in there. I'd like to stay somewhat budget, but if it's hot enough I'll splurge.
I can't afford Goblins.
One of my players has vampires (no Nocturnus so not too bad) and clerics, another has elves and soldiers. I'd like to not step on there tribes, suggestions?
One of the decks I was known for in my casual group was a blue/red Citadel of pain Deck. You know what I think about that rules change on mana burn? boo for me I liked that deck, but it doesn't matter it's a pretty sensible rules change.
I know this isn't tg so I'll have to phrase this slightly politer than I would elsewhere
So the group I play with has a houserule that's ALWAYS in effect. If you're opening hand doesn't have two land you shuffle and redraw a full hand until you do. What effect should this rule be having on my deck construction?
Life from the Loam needs to be in here. It pulls back your cycle lands drawing you more cards and sliding more creatures and its dredge ability puts more cards in the GY for you to Witness out.
I was arguing with a friend of mine who claims that modern blocks are ridiculously more powerful than older blocks. I brought up Urza block which he claimed is pretty underpowered. So we're proxying decks to prove our points. I can ignore banned/restricted lists and can use cards from outside of urza block and even newer cards, but the more obvious it is that my deck is based on urza block the better it is for my arguement. I ask for your help, but I'm thinking something like
The idea being of course to Generate massive mana with mana artifacts plus Academy and then stroke him out. I know there's a ton of room for improvement because I just hammered this out from memory with a few out of block upgrades. Please help me win this arguement even if you don't agree.

I'm looking to rebuild my collection a bit and these are the kinds of cards I'm looking for, so help me identify some more.
Lightning Helix certainly sticks out in my head as one as does Blightening. What are some stand out workhorse cards?
