May 11, 2018Affinity isn’t ban worthy because of a 4drop lol but the card is definitely good. I’ve been playing antiquities war in the same slot, it’s been actual gas every game it’s resolved. Similar to karn except it just kills them in 2 turnsPosted in: Aggro & Tempo
Mar 17, 2018I play three basics, 2 swamp 1 forest. 4 catacombs 1 foothills 1 mire. 4 blackcleave, 3 grove 1 tomb 1 stomping 1 blood crypt (19 total). Post board my fetches only grab basics unless I already have them in hand. Swamp cycles everything except ceradon. Once you have blood moon, swamp + any land = all your mana required.Posted in: Modern Archives - Proven
Mar 6, 2018I mean, G1 is just like burn except they’re slower than burn. They kill everything, we strategically try to kill them while they do so.Posted in: Aggro & Tempo
Manlands play a big role in these “everything dies” MUs, as does champion and Ravager. Don’t expose ravager if you can’t put his counters elsewhere.

Idk if this was intended to be blunt humor but I LOL’d.
Also meddling Mage naming grapeshot
Feb 26, 2018Posted in: Aggro & TempoQuote from FoodChainGoblins »Quote from kodieyost »I piloted Affinity in a 92-man $1k today and took home Top 4. 5-1-1, 2-1 in quarterfinals and 1-2 in semifinals.
Lost in g3 of semis to 5 consecutive turns of opp flipping a land to his bob to not be at 0 life when I had to swing out with my champion + plating.
Deck still feels great. I live and die by Daniel’s videos, highly recommend 😬
Congrats man! You've been really crushing it with the deck.
I was considering asking you how you side for the mirror, but when I was out for a walk, I think I figured it out...
On the play or draw - side out 3 Etched Champion and 4 Signal Pest for 2 Ancient Grudge, 2 Ghirapur Aether Grid, 2 Bitterblossom, and 1 Spell Pierce (for nabbing that Cranial Plating or Ghirapur Aether Grid, lol). Does this sound right?
*Dark Confidant always flips lands. I had a match a long while back where my opponent had 8 flips from Bob in 2 games - 7 Verdant Catacombs and 1 Raging Ravine. It came to a point where I'd just guess, "Verdant Catacombs?" and I was right every time except once. The only hope is that the card drawn is also a land, right?
**One thing I noticed from the videos is this. There was a game where he could have afforded 1 mana to equip Cranial Plating onto Ornithopter and off the Vault Skirge when he was expecting Lightning Bolt. Is it the better play to equip the Ornithopter instead when the Vault Skirge is a more important creature if you are expecting removal? I know it's different when you NEED the life gain, but I would have done so. Or is it more important to try to gain the life, just in case it matters later on? You never know. How do you play it? For me, I equip the Ornithopter because I'd rather that die since sometimes chip shots from a Skirge put an opponent in Galvanic Blast range.
I just now saw this, thanks buddy!! I love the videos for the thoughts and plays I get to watch, I don’t necessarily always agree with his lines — probably 75-80% of the time I do, and if I knew which match you’re referring to I’d go check it out.
Sometimes the huge life swing is relevant, especially vs decks with Bolt, so the odds of connecting must have seemed high to make it worthwhile. I tend to equip my Skirge more often than not, because I win more easily with the lifegain than the exact 1 extra damage
As for the mirror, yes you have it nailed pretty much down. I also SB out my mountain on the draw instead of a Pest.
Feb 17, 2018Posted in: Aggro & TempoQuote from DrArtegis »Hi buddy, I ran 2 Hazoret some months ago and my results were always really good. I had them instead of searing blaze. It is a really good card, especially when you run out all your cards. Topdecking this card you can surprise your opponent. And except path to exile, it is almost invincible!. I run the normal list without 2 searing blaze and including 2 Hazoret. My win ratio in MOL was about 80% (preparing to competitive)
What do you think guys about the new jund? It always defeat me in MOL...
80% winrate is absurdly high, that’s 4-1 in every league... hard time believing that one
Feb 11, 2018You’re getting a little aggressive here, calm down.Posted in: Proven (Standard)
To most people who have been playing this game for a long time, the list looks like Midrange — it has expensive spells to cast, it has inefficient attackers (ranging raptors? Forerunner?), and it’s lacking a way to force through early attackers (that’s what burn spells, kill spells, and bounce spells are for — all of which are found in most fast aggro decks like zombies and merfolk)
This probably belongs in a dinosaur threat, there’s a general tribal discussion thread already that would love the input.
Feb 6, 2018Hey congrats on breaking the slump! 3-1 is respectable, and you are right about the Merfolk MU — it’s considered one of our very best matches because they have almost zero ways to stop Steel Overseer, we can sacrifice most of our lands to prevent Islandwalk, and our guys fly with equipment to pressure their life total immensely faster than they pressure ours. I don’t believe I’ve ever lost the Affinity v Merfolk MU.Posted in: Aggro & Tempo
Re: the deck moving forward, I’m seeing more double Welding Jar, single Memnite. Is this a concession to Jeskai + Deaths Shadow decks? It feels great against them, but games where we have the Drum + Jar just feel miserable compared to Drum + Memnite. I play a single Jar currently
Feb 5, 2018I think Vexing Devil is a great call for the PT meta. Most Pros were expecting Gx Tron, Affinity, Storm, and Humans. None of those decks pack a particularly large amount of removal.Posted in: Aggro & Tempo
If Tron is killing the Devil, they lose 4 life anyway. If Affinity is killing him, you gained 4 life and some tempo in a race. If Storm Remands it, then they have to get to a natural 20 storm. If Humans doesn’t have reflector Mage the next turn, you’re bashing for 4 — so they’ll likely take it.
For that specific meta, I think it was a good call. Jeskai and Grixis decks laugh at the card, but the majority of the field has a tough time with it.
