Hey everyone! I just went to a LCQ for the Regional qualifier yesterday in Columbus, Ohio, and managed a top 8 with Gifts Tron. It actually ran pretty smoothly having enough control to survivie until you reach the silver bullets for modern's very linear decks right now (Infect, Burn, etc). The board wipes and removal also allow you to just win on card advantage real quickly. I'll post the deck list later with more detailed match results.
Hey, I was toying around with some of the new cards in my UW giftstron. Coax from the Blind Eternities seems so good. It gives you a good midgame card fixing that lets you grab from a toolbox of at least Newlamog, TKS, and All is dust for midrange, control, and aggo matchups. Then the feldon's cane effect of old emrakul in the maindeck lets you shuffle that card back in for further gifts packages along with being able to continue your coax from the blind eternities. It is nice in long games to be able to increase the amount of gas/game winning draws in the deck. In addition, it helps you get your emrakul back into your hand if they exile it in response to the shuffle. Also lowkey testing new emrakul in the toolbox cause its nifty.
Unrelated to that, new thalia looks fun in my kikichord. Its pretty good in some matchups and t2 it off bird on the play seems brutal.
i totally agree with counterspell jack, the interaction between blue and red has so much potential, and alot of it is feared by WotC but seriously, this newest batch of UR sucks (except double negative, i like it)
I like reaper king and i love the art on scarecrow cards so i figured i would try to make a deck with them to play with some casual buddys (and i loves me a 5 colored deck) and ive got ideas, can anyone help me turn this into a deck (I am deckbuilding impaired.). So these are just my ideas.
Wingrattle Scarecrow: It seems good with reaper king because it comes into play twice and only 3 mana
Rattleblaze Scarecrow: also because persist causes him to come into play 2 times.
Painters Helper: Cheap and will cause my Scarecrows to have persist if i make everything black.
Momentary Blink: Can be flashedback for double fun and will save scarecrows, cause them to come into play again, and will get rid of -1/-1 counters from persist.
Grim Poppet: great for killing an aggro board and can be blinked back in for more counters. Mana cost shouldnt be a problem because i will be running plenty of fixers and acceleration.
Coalition Relic: Great for getting different colors of mana and accelaration boost.
Guttoral Response or Vexing Shusher: Protect the king when you play him for 1 mana.
Safe-right quest: Help me find the 1-of basic lands ill run.
And while im at it i wanna run legacy weapon! its nice and would just be a 1-of
I am sure there is more but this is just the bunch ideas been bouncing around in my head, plz help i think this deck would be fun.
that growth of might is JUST WRONG! if i read it correctly u can give all your creatures +11/+11 as an instant which means on turn 3 or 4 u ca attack with 2 creatures for game
...that *****s bananas
i do not know wat to repale it with

Grand Consul
The ability is nice, sure, and I know your goal to create lords which don't have one. First, this isn't a lord. Second the effect doesn't do the trick since you can't have thát many advisors. If it would have been Clerics it would have been better. If it were an other abilitie it could be playable for advisors maybe.
Grove King
Not a lord again, but I do love this one. It really gives the green feeling, a forest which grows. Filthering your deck is a nice thing too!
Troll Ritualist
Quite powerful this one. There aren't really Trolls with different mana curve so this one could pull off.
Grove Queen
Lovely. Though it's nice to give him also a bonus with enchantments so you could create a dryad aure/enchantment tribal deck. It would be hot!
Lords constantly pump their creature types, without any sort of activation. They can give power/toughness (Thrull Champion), landwalk (Eladamri, Lord of Leaves), or even trample (Kavu Monarch). Cards that activate to give bonuses to creature types are not lords (for example, Squirrel Wrangler). Likewise, cards that give only a temporary bonus are discounted (such as, Phyrexian Driver).
I would like to make clear that the lords you are talking about i find somewhat boring, lord of atlantis, i wish to use the same lord types as in morningtide (scarblade elite, greatbow doyen, battletide alchemist, giltleaf archdruid, ...the knight one) and no these arent traditional lords, but i like them and am going to post more like them.
Chthonic Overlord: i love it, mana cost is good since shades should be mono black, though the static +1/+1 doesnt seem necassary with his other ability.
Liberator of roots: i like that one it seems interesting, not much to compare to so i dont know what way to sway on it
Plundering champion: may be overpowered... it can basically lock them out from mana if they dont kill it fast. im not sure...
Metathran Commander 2UU
Creature - Metathran Soldier
As long as you have 3 or more cards in your hand, all metathran creatures you control have flying.
As long as you have 6 or more cards in your hand, all metathran creatures you control have shroud.

wording may be wrong on this one... i wish i could remember name of the kamigawa guy with an ability like this.
Steeple Giant 3BB
Creature - Gargoyle
Flying
Gargoyles you control lose defender.
Other Gargoyles you control +X/+Y, where X is that creatures toughness and Y is that creatures power.

this thread is for making lords for tribes that, sadly, are without one... so very sad... well they will be much like the ones in morningtide, less like lord of atlantis etc

Creatures can't attack you unless their controller pays x for each creature he or she controls that's attacking you, where x is equal to the number of advisors you control.

I thought this shows the druidic and the warrior nature of centaurs through mana searching and creature pump

I thought this shows how playful Dryads are while still being effective since dryads are easily massed do to their low mana cost.
been trying to brainstorm i nice mechanic for purple, im not quite sure about it though and i thought of a huge reason not to use "rift".
Burrow <COST> When ~ would be put into the graveyard from play you may pay <COST>, if you do remove him from the game faceup instead. You may pay <COST> at the beginning of your upkeep to return ~ to play. It gains haste until the end of turn.
and against "rift" is the fact that since creatures from the "rift" are not of the plane that the story takes place how will they truely fit into the flavor and storyline of said plane. and the whole case of things coming/going from forsts/mountains they dont physically leave the plane and go to another one like with rifts
and im sry for not posting, i had some huge exams to study for. i noticed some new purple threads while trying to find this one, im gonna read those right now
Soron i like the P/T setting idea from ur thread and i think may just steal it... it sounds nice
furthermore i would like to state that though i was against making keywords i now think that you are right it is a good idea to make a one or two for it, but they have to fit the color not a specific storyline like delif. i would like to stay away from too much RFG cards in purple because it 1 would usually be overpriced removal/discard and 2 i would not like a ton of RFG and then burrow which is RFG that can come back
ach...! i may have forgotten to update first post and i will check on that but it was decided the land would be Abyss refering to deep under the planets crust, like a subterrainian world.
and remove from the game would be more powerful then destroy target creature 89% of the time so i it would have to stay at quite the high cost spells making them a poor choice for creature control so... i dont think so
and to soron/kaos... im not sure about milling because that is coming more and mroe into bloom on blues color pie as of late, so im not sure and i have a deep seated hatred for poison so, and i know this is not a great reason, unless you can convince me it is a good mechanic for purple or any color (HATE) im not so sure...
plz commence ur rants about my lack of reasoning behind hating poison if u do i will probably go into more detail but at the moment im afraid i really dont have time
Unrelated to that, new thalia looks fun in my kikichord. Its pretty good in some matchups and t2 it off bird on the play seems brutal.
Basically sigil captain is the everything here
Sigil Captain + Glen Elendra Archmage = they resolve no noncreature spells
Sigil Captain + Husk/thrinax + Redcap = infinite damage
Sigil Captain + Husk/thrinax + safehold elite = infinite buff to husk/thrinax
Sigil Captain + Husk/thrinax + Safehold Elite + Deathgreeter = Inifinite life
Sigil Captain + Husk/thrinax + Safehold Elite + Hissing Inguanar = infinite damage
archmage can replace the elite in these interactions
im thinking of what to cut to make room for something to give my creatures trample for husk and thrinax to be winners
Also Idk about my mana base i usually suck at that, though this one has worked thus far
Wingrattle Scarecrow: It seems good with reaper king because it comes into play twice and only 3 mana
Rattleblaze Scarecrow: also because persist causes him to come into play 2 times.
