Quote from AdrianWalls »Next up on the docket after going 50/50 tonight at Modern Monday is working the deck to the meta a bit. Gonna try a new creature base: 4 Delver, 3 Snaps, 3 Lingering Souls, 2 Jace, 3 Mantis Rider, 1 or 2 Thunderbreak Regents. Probably up the lands from 19-20 and put Remand in for spells. Flying is something just so many decks cannot deal with. It's also a real feel bad to leave a Regent there and have to terminate a spirit. Or hell, try and path or terminate the dragon so I can counter it and you still take a bolt.
Rider has been an absolute house. Yes, it does to bolt but so does Delver and Rider actually gets to swing immediately. Vigilance is shocking not to be sneezed at. Not the non factor I thought it might be.
I toyed and may still toy with Boros Reckoner in the deck. He seems very similar to Regent but he's very hard to cast.
2-2 isn't bad for the first time trying a new list. I love that you are trying new things and are thinking outside the box. I'm glad Mantis Rider worked out well for you. I have been interested in that card lately. Flying is still the best form of evasion in magic.
How did Ojutai's Command work for you? I am currently running one in my Jeskai Prowess/Delver build and it has been great. My curve is a bit lower and I have Jace, Vryn's Prodigy/Abbot of Keral Keep/Snapcaster Mage as targets for the spell as well as Delver and Swiftspear. However, I have been toying with the idea of raising the curve slightly so I would love to hear how the command performed for you in play.
With 3 riders, 3 lingering souls, 2 thunderbreak, and 2 ojutai's command you will need at least 20 lands (possibly 21). I always like to err on the side of running less lands in a deck if I am on the fence, but I typically run aggro-control and tempo decks. Keep us posted when you come up with the list. I would love to see it. It sounds awesome.

As for the Jadelight Ranger: I've been testing it and really like it. It's really great later so you don't dead draw a 2nd or 3rd Militant or late Experiment One. It's a good filter and potentially a 4/3 for 3 that gets you through dead draws.
