Well, so much for the idea that Nymphs were going to be important. I was under the impression that they where servants of the gods and that they where how the gods interacted with people. The fact that they apparently are going to be a simple cycle irks me a bit. I hope I'm wrong, but that's how it is looking at this point.
So let me see if I have this correct. We have another servant of the gods, who isn't a nymph? I'm beginning to wonder what was the point of having nymph being brought back as a creature type and introduced as they where in the Planeswalker's guide if they are apparently not really going to be used. At this point, I think they should have been called spirits. It would have been a stronger supported creature type and would have possibly given some wacky spirit decks a card or two new to play with.
So in Nighthowler we have another bestow creature/enchantment that ISN'T a nymph. It's cool and all, but wasn't this supposed to be their gameplay gimmick and so far we have a whopping 1 nymph and more than that in non-nymph bestowers. Maybe it's just me, but I sort of got the impression that since the nymphs where servants of the gods that they would be a bigger part of the set that this. Heck, the sea goddess apparently would rather have some random crab as her servant. I don't remember crabs being mentioned in the plainswalkers' guide. So what gives?
Not a dryad... or a nymph? I'm disappointed. So far only 1 nymph spoiled. Yeah, I know we are early into the spoilers, but most bestow creatures so far haven't been nymphs despite them supposedly being the personification of that concept.
In some ways I sort of think of Bestow as an reverse Envoke. Where Envoke allowed you to pay a lesser cost to get an effect at a cost of not getting the creature, Bestow allows you to pay a greater cost to get the effect and then later have the creature. If you want, you can pay the normal cost for either depending on your current needs.
Devotion to colorless could quickly become broken however.
Devotion to snow on the other hand....
Unless they where willing to put into the casting cost of cards (and they weren't willing to lasts time) it wouldn't work. Even if they where, having snow be in the casting cost would have to be really pushed to make it worth while and it would be really awkward for it not to be backwards compatible with current snow permanents.
I know this is just me being a pervy old man and all, but if they give me enough nymphs in different colors I might have to try to put together some sort of nymph themed edh deck at some point in the future.
Does she actually have any acting skills or is she just a really big model? If given a choice between someone who can actually act but who has to rely on digital editing to look that big vs. someone who just happens to be big but can't act... I'm going with the person who can act every time.
When I look at this card, I think two things. How many satyrs are going to get creature cards? Will there be a "Priestess" card of some sort that gets "Protection from Satyrs"?
I say with computer effects they can make a well built actress to look like she is that tall and that there is no reason the actress playing She-Hulk has to actually be that tall.
It seems to me that most of the time when someone is flicking their cards, they are doing it on purpose and it isn't a mindless habit. They are doing it to try to distract their opponent. Whenever I play against them, I purposely slow down enough to prevent them from rushing me into making mistakes and concentrate on winning the match even more.
Seriously, when I think about assassin variant that a lot of people are assuming, I can't help but wonder what type of cards they could print that would support it.
You do realize that design is more than just stats/abilities right? It is also the overall flavor and feel of the card, which I think they nailed. Witches tend to be U/B and this thing likes to stalk them. However, YES you could say that that means it should be pro-U/B but I think that WITH hexproof(which makes sense because it can't be hexed by a Witch) would be brutal, so they gave it the counter ability instead.
I just looked up what blue witches there are and not only are neither of them mono blue, they both where Hybrid. One was white/blue and the other blue/black. In fact, there are just as many white witches as there are blue and more red witches than there are blue and white put together. IMO, unless they give us a blue witch as well it really doesn't feel flavorful, but instead could have been more so if it was only anti-black.
Why a mono blue? It also has protection from black. So it can also be a blue black witch
We already have a mono black witch for m14. That combined with them not putting many if any multicolored cards in core sets makes me think that a mono blue witch is more likely. That is why I was asking for one.
