i notice ppl are picking up spell pierce over swan song, any particular reason for this?
also, 2 azusa + 1 swordtooth feels weird to me, i would assume swordtooth would act as the 4th azusa to play around the legend rule.

Hi Davis, great to hear from you again. Any thoughts on Sunhone VS Kessig? I hav been playing with Kessig since u first recommended, and I notice most of the list posted online are playing Sunhome, even your list from previous post.
On Explore, yes I notice my Explores are getting spell snared, whereas that has almost never happened before the unbanning. That being said explore is really good against jund which is also on the uptick, but maybe it's still worth it to play 4 Explore. I'm not a huge fan of 4-of Azusa.

Nothing exciting really. Round 1 against affinity, he was able to put up too much pressure too quickly, my opening was good but lack a bounceland and was dead before I got could draw it. Round 2 against abzan, game 3 got rekt by Fulminator Mage and wasn't able to recover in time. Round 3 against RG Vengevine, game 1 he aggro-ed me and game 2 got blood moon-ed.
The funny thing is, this RPTQ was held in Malaysia, and I am from Singapore (half a day drive awawy), and my first 3 opponents are also from Singapore (whom i knew), so it was abit upsetting. Thankfully my first round opponent (who is also my friend) went on into top8 and win the invitation, so I am happy for him.
As for deck choices, Amulet Titan is actually the only deck I can play with confident and operate to the fullest potential. I have tried other decks, but they all feel lacking in something. Plus, Amulet is fun to play with.

Unfortunately things didnt go well today, went 0-3 and 1-4 drop. Looks like there won't be any Azusa in PT Bilbao anytime soon lol

Proud to announce I won the LCQ for tomorrow's RPTQ, 28 players. Didn't make any changes to the deck. Matchup as follows:
    R1: lantern 2-0
    R2: eldrazi tron 2-1
    R3: living end 2-1
    R4: ID
    R5: ID
    quarter: UR breach 2-0
    semi: jeskai control 2-0
    finals: human company 2-0

UR breach was the matchup I was most worried about. Luckily in game1 I was able to accelerate with Simian Spirit Guide a turn early with blue pact to protect. In game2 he missed 2 land drops and I was able to beat him down before he get to cast breach.

Hopefully I can continue to run as hot tomorrow.

@davius for the Jeskai matchup, good point on the Dispel/Summoner's Pact part. It also gets eaten by Spell Queller, so it makes more sense to trim some. I used to think Walking Ballista is good in this matchup since I can tutor it for the last few damage, but I guess that's more of a game 1 plan. Also, any opinion on Ruric Thar against Jeskai? It has reach to block their flying creatures, and deals damage when they try to deal with it.

On Valakut, I guess you and @fpaw are right. I had it in against Valakut because it worked out on two seperate occasion, so I was convinced it's good against them. I will have to look back at this again. Thankfully Valakut has been on a decline recently. As for Tireless Tracker, I can see the appeal as said by @fpaw (hits the board early and hard-hitting), and I like this aspect. My concern is whether is it be too slow (the card drawing aspect) and too ineffective, since it doesn't really do anything in stopping their game plan.

On Eldrazi Tron, Obstinate Baloth sounds good, I'm especially fond of the interaction from Reality Smasher.

On Storm, good point on the Ghost Quarter, I have actually did this play against an opponent who plays BM main (not storm) and won that game, so I guess it's worth keeping it.

On Tron, I mainly see Thragtusk as a resilient threat against their sweeper (Oblivion Stone and Ugin), leaving a 3/3 afterwards to continue attacking. As for Tireless Tracker, I have the same concern as above stated under Valakut.

On Burn, I kinda like Ruric Thar here since they will often take damage from their shocklands and Eidolon triggers. Comparing to Walking Ballista, Ballista just feels too slow and ineffective, and doesn't help win the game. Example, I can cast Ruric Thar when they are at 12 and they have to deal with it immediately or they are dead in 2 turns, whereas casting Ballista for X=3 doesn't stop them from winning.

@fpaw interesting that you are trimming 1 Ancient Stirrings in some matchups, it does make mathematical sense (land count, threat count and digging) which I will need some time to think this through. I will take it into consideration.

Hey guys! So I decided to come up with a sideboard guide in preparation for the upcoming RPTQ's LCQ. Would like to know your opinions on sideboard plans, whatever I could improve on, and also to reconfirm some of my findings before I continue to grind more competitive leagues.

So here is (probably) the final list I'm bringing next week. The mainframe belongs to Davius, I merely swapped Tireless Tracker with Walking Ballista.
Below is the sideboard guide by archetypes. Do note I rely heavily on the sideboard guide posted by the Bobby Fortanely, which can be found on page 133. I also use some reference from Davius's post in page 148~.

There are probably some decision that are not optimal to the overall game plan, and I'm still unsure of certain cards (even as I'm writing this). Let me know what you guys think.

@fpawlusz my list was actually the exact same as @davius found on post #3715. have to giv credit when due!
On 3 azusa, I feel it make sense mathematically since this list already plays 4 Explore and 1 Simian Spirit Spirit Guide as other ramp outlet. This list also runs 2 Tireless Tracker, so you are not running out of 3s to play. That being said, I think I would take out 1 Simian Spirit Guide and 1 Tireless Tracker for something like 1 Walking Ballista and 1 something else. I agree after testing those leagues Walking Ballista is certainly 1-of in the main. Having the option to kill off a problematic creature, or just to kill off the opponent is strong enough.
On Kessig Wolf Run, I highly recommend it. If you are in for the Walking Ballista kill, Kessig Wolf Run is essentially the same thing, but works on any of your creatures (works best on plant token).

Yesterday I joined a MTGO Modern Challenge with this list, however I did badly and went 3-4. Here's the breakdown:
Round 1: Eldrazi Tron (with Green) - 2-0
    Round 2: Valakut - 2-0
    Round 3: Bant Company - 1-2
    Round 4: Jeskai Tempo - 1-2
    Round 5: Abzan Company - 0-2
Round 6: UR Storm - 2-0 (totally unexpected, game2 he has 2 Blood Moon in play, but I was lucky and cast Ruric Thar and win the game)
    Round 7: UW Grand Architect - 0-2

There are some games where I think I drew badly, but overall without Walking Ballista the matchup against Company deck is significantly worse.

Going forward I will probably try to come up with a list that's build upon davius' list. Some cards I am still not certain are the Simian Spirit Guide, 3rd Forest in main and 1 Tectonic Edge in side.

so far i have tried 3 leagues with daviusminimus' list, went 4-1, 3-2, and 5-0. here is the breakdown:

    League 1 4-1
    Valakut: WW (2-0)
    Jeskai Tempo: WLW (2-1)
    RW Midrange: WW (2-0)
    4C Death's Shadow: LWW (2-1)
    GDS: WLL (1-2)

    League 2 3-2
    BR Cycling/Discard: WW (2-0)
    Affinity: LL (0-2)
    BW Eldrazi: LWL (1-2)
    Lantern Control: WW (2-0)
    Affinity: LWW (2-1)

    League 3 5-0
    Humans: WW (2-0)
    Burn: WW (2-0)
    Grixis Young Pyromancer: WW (2-0)
    Burn (WW (2-0)
    Affinity: LWW (2-1)

here are some of my thoughts after testing:
    - Kessig Wolf Run: i think it's here to stay. i have won a significant no. of games that im convinced it's better than Sunhome. Although there are 1-2 games where i have double amulet in play but i cant kill an opponent straight away become i cant giv my titan double strike, it's fine since at this point we should be way ahead.
    - Simian Spirit Guide: im not very sure abt this card. i only recall using it's ability once, and i find myself SB it out often, largely due to my uncertainty on what exact role it plays. maybe someone can advise me on which matchup SSG should stay/go.
    - flew slot(tracker, ballista): i feel tracker is good enough that it earns the slot in maindeck. there was a game against 5C Humans where i play 2 tracker and essentially beat him to death with my huge trackers (+ kessig wolf run). however, im not sure if im comfortable not playing any ballista in main/SB. it felt as if i was missing that option of flexibility, although i dont think i hav lost a game for not having ballista yet.
    - Tectonic Edge: unfortunately, this is the only card i haven't got the chance to test with. on paper it seems slow, since you can only activate it on the 4th land, and by then the tron opponent would have alrdy cast their payoff spell.
    - Obstinate Baloth: i think i like this card. i once manage to pact into Baloth when my opponent plus their LilianaotV, and in another game it bought me some time against a burn opponent.

so far i haven't got a chance to play against those bad matchups (storm, ad nauseum etc), so i cant tell whether this is the list to go moving forward, but im liking it for now.
i might want to try another league or 2 with this list, just to get more results with some of the cards.

@davius thanks for posting your list! im currently playing a competitive league with ur exact list right now, and i've got to say kessig is awesome. helped me pushed sooo much dmg from the critters (from STC to plant token). went 4-0 and 4-1, losing to GDS. gonna test one more league next time with this list.

    just a random thought
dismember feels very favorable in maindeck now. it's good against storm, eldrazi tron, GDS, and 5C human which is getting popular.
    wat do u guys think?

Interesting idea on Gaddock Teeg. I threw the idea at my playtest grp for a casual discussion and we came to this (all in theory though)
    - in general: mana cost is somewhat restrictive, since we only play 1 GW bounceland, as compared to RG bounceland for Ruric Thar, which we play 3-of
    - against storm: gets bolted. likely they are keeping some amount of bolts post-board since they don't require to over-board against us, and bolt is still relevant in killing azusa/snake. it also doesn't stop chaining rituals into a small grapeshot, killing the Teeg and continue to storm off from there.
    - against scapeshift: gets bolted/natural valakut-ed
    - against U/W control: i actually like the sound of this, at most it's getting pathed, and we carry on with life from there.
    - against ad nauseum: this i like even more, it really stops their combo

overall Teeg only sounds fantastic against ad nauseum. that said, i'm not entirely sure whether it warrants a slot in the SB.

@sunn that would be me, i wasn't expecting them to post the decklist online. Btw it wasn't a PPTQ. This LGS organised a series of events which leads to their Invitational, and this was the qualifier for it (finalists are invited). I was fortunate to start with 1 round bye (via qualification points) and got there with some luck and concession along the way, so it wasn't an exact representation of the deck. I will just go through the matchups I faced that day.

    Round 1: BYE
    Result: 1-0

    Round 2: Affinity.
Game 1: Opponent mulled to 6, and I kept a slow hand (5 lands + amulet + titan). Opponent then mulled further to 5 and kept with no lands. I eventually won because of his slow start.
Game 2: Opponent mulled to 6 again, and didn't put out alot of pressure. However I would have lost if i haven't draw both copies of dismembers, which killed a Steel Overseer and an equipped Vault Skirge.
    Result: 2-0

    Round 3: Scapeshift.
Game 1: Opponent didn't have an explosives start, with no play on T1 and lightning bolt my scout on T2. He did cast a T3 and T4 Khalni Heart Expedition, but this allows me to go off with amulet + titan, and I also happened to draw the singleton Engineered Explosives which deals the the Expeditions.
Game 2: It came to a point where it's my turn, we are both at 20 life, opponent has 7 lands in play and I have a titan in play. I wasn't able to make another titan with haste because I used up my mana for a blue pact on previous turn. So I attack with my existing titan, bringing him down to 14, and cast Ruric Thar. If he has Scapeshift + 8th land, I would be dead. Luckily, he missed on the 8th land. He did however have the scapeshift, which he cast (and took 6 from Ruric, down to 8) for 4 valakut triggers, killing both titan and Ruric. On my turn I topdecked a green pact, search for titan and give it haste, dealing the last 8 point of dmg.
    Result: 3-0

    Round 4: Naya Zoo
Game 1: It's a favorable matchup for me, so long story short I ramped into multiple titans and won.
Game 2: Opponent kept a sketchy hand with no T1 play and T2 Noble Hirache. I have a T1 amulet, and decided on T2 lay bounceland, float 2 mana and cast Ballista for 1, kill the Noble. I haven't seen him casting Collected Company, but decided I don't want to face it on T3. Luckily, he missed on his third land drop, and I manage to ramp into titan and seal the game.
    Result: 4-0

    Round 5 and 6: ID
    Result: 4-0-2, 6th place.

    Quarter: Jeskai Control (4th place)
Game 1: Opponent tapped out for Giest of St. Traft, which IMHO is problematic for me if I can't win fast enough. Luckily, I topdecked a second amulet, which allows me to cast Azusa along with 2 X hasty titans for the win.
Game 2: Opponent was able to resolve his Geist again, all the while denying all my spells and tempo me out of contention.
Game 3: I manage to resolve an Azusa thanks to Cavern of Souls naming Human, and resetting it with bounceland to prepare for T4 titan. I won the game thanks to the Cavern.

Semi: Affinity (a friend of mine)
Previously he already mentioned that he can't make it for the Invitational, so he was ready to concede if he meets any friend along the way. I was lucky to meet him in semi and got the concession, locking me for the invite.

    Finals: Burn
We didn't play it out as the invite was given out to both finalist. If we were to play it out, I doubt I would have won because he would be on the play in game 1, which is very important for me.

Summary: I actually only played 4 rounds total, winning all 4.

I have been following the Discord chat, and although I have not tested on the different variation of amulet titan (Shaheli, Breach, Retreat, Excavator etc.), I still think the normal Amulet Titan is the best and most consistent. I have play this list in 6 different PPTQ, overall results are 1 Final, 2 Semi, 1 Quarter and 2 X-2 drop.
