Uncensored interview is here: https://streamable.com/xn2t Lots of swearing.
I didn't read the stuff that the Eyeshield guy didn't redraw. I dropped the manga around chapter 46
To be a little more clear, the way they introduced him, where he's just really strong from doing regular calisthenics everyday and defeats monsters with one punch(get it) was cool. Them setting it in the real world instead of shounen world was also cool and the fact that the strongest man gets stuck being a low ranking member of the bureaucracy is pretty funny. Once it stays in that setting for a considerable period of time it just becomes less interesting and becomes less a parody and more run of the mill and as a result, mediocre.
I feel Weidmen was winning that fight until the wheel kick, that's why I think the immediate rematch is in play in that fight. Aldo deserves the rematch because it was just wholey unsatifying. We don't know who the better fighter is, which is a real shame. We did learn that 4 oz gloves are a real mother ****er though. Ronda on the other hand, I feel is unwarranted an immediate rematch. She got dominated and there is no question who the better fighter was. Holm.
In other MMA related news. former MMA fighter Genki Sudo is apparently a J-Pop star
Edit: I also didn't like when Barao got an immediate rematch.
Also, as far as MacGregor goes, it seems as if he is going to move up and his next fight is going to be against the winner of the title fight on saturday. Which leaves Frankie Edgar and Aldo to fight for the 145 title.
Except he's not a heel. He gets ridiculousy huge pop, especially from "Irish" people. He's a babyface that just happens to be an insult comic, like Cena.
I haven't watched the entire card yet, only the prelims and Aldo - MacGregor. I honestly hated the main event. I was so hype and so ready for a good fight and it was like JDS-Cain 1. The fight didn't prove what anyone wanted it to prove, and I'm honestly just ready for the immediate rematch so we can actually see who the truly better fighter is. Aldo deserves better. also #****frankieedgarforever
Coker ran EliteXC into the ground with this same kind of matchmaking. I'm honestly surprised he's even booking Kimbo because Kimbo is kinda the guy that bankrupted EliteXC by getting smoked by Seth Petruzelli on national television.
The biggest problem is that MMA(and I guess combat sports in general) has a very bizarre way of star-making. Being the best fighter doesn't make you a star(ask Demetrious Johnson). Being a relatively dominant and exciting fighter doesn't make stars(Ask Jon Jones). Not even beating a well-known draw gets you to the star level alone(ask Holly Holm, who seems to be getting closer to being a trivia answer than a superstar). You have to be exciting both in and out of the cage. You have to have a personality for people to latch themselves onto and it has to be sincere - which is the main issue with Jones. Someone from them to get behind. And also be able to hang in the ring in order to become a star. Plus on top of that you have to be highly visible, regional circuit and One FC don't cut it. The ultra competitive matchmaking of the UFC is a double-edged sword here because after you pick a big win or 2 in the under card, you start working through the ranks of the top 30/40 or so fighters in the world in your weight class, which makes it real damn hard to look outrageously good and build that star power. So with it being so hard to build a star, it's really easy to just schedule old stars because once you're a draw, you basically stay one no matter how old or bad you get.
Casual MMA man. The gift that keeps on giving.
In other fight news, did you or anyone else see the WSOF tournament. THAT was a seriously good story and decent fighting. Foster made some sick adjustments and proved everyone can get caught but it's not always the whole story.
194 will be dope, but I'm not excited for how they really are cramming 3 events in 3 days, because it's A LOT of fighting and there are nteresting fights on all three cards where you're gonna at least want to catch 2-3 matchs on each card. The namajunas-van zant card has at least 3 really good fighters on it; Aljamain Sterling(v johnny eduardo), Super Sage, Tim Means and Jim Miller(against michael chiesa). The TUF finale the night before has 3 really good fights on it that are can't miss: Edgar-Mendes, Barbosa-Ferguson,and Dunham-Lauzon in what could be a really crazy fotn. And we get another sighting of my boy, The Crusher. With 194 being top and bottom solid, it's just gonna be way too much MMA and I feel it is doing some of those fights and fighters a disservice. And thats not even including the UFC on Fox the weekend directly after.
I definitely watched her split decision to noted powerhouse Raquel Pennington. Not impressed, neither was anyone else.
Also I notice that you didn't follow up your other stupid comment about casual MMA being dead.
Sorry, that you didn't like the good fights last night. Magny-Gastulum was sick as ****. The TUF fights were good back and forth. Cejudo-Formiga was decent.
Lamas and Sanchez was exciting in a kind of macabre sort of way. Some of the early fights were nice.
Oh and on the best Bellator card of the year, the ratings peaked during the Bobby Lashley fight.
