What about mindtwist, thoughtseize, duress, the new discard spell, mouth of ronom, scrying sheets, skeletal scrying, contagion, snuff out, memory plunder, seize the soul, sickening shoal to name a few...
Also does anyone know of any edh decks that are good, but on the cheaper side? I'm trying to get into it but don't have a lot of extra funds...
Hey I'm looking to borrow 4x dark depths for the ptq in philly this saturday. I can pick up wherever and am willing to leave an ipod+credit card as collateral. Also willing to give 1/3 of the prize
this just in - I wont be heading to Mark's after all. Friday's a no go due to work + friend bday in city. And while I love you guys, I really can't do the whole spend the entire day and night playing magic waaay out in LI without my own ride.Nothing personal peeps! As such I probably will be checking out Jim Hanley's since their main event starts at 2pm on saturday with flights and drafts thereafter. It's so much closer and I don't have have to deal with Mark and the usual preRe cretins. I'll certainly report back as it might be a sweet spot to play...
jim hanleys is ok. most of the players there are braindead. However get there early. I went to their release tournament for the last set and it got locked out after 50 people (luckily i got in).
And because it doesn't even deck them immediately either
they'll still have up to 7 turns to respond to you- if their board position was better than yours, his ultimate won't even save you 90% of the time. Lets say they throw out a progenitus the turn before you drop his ultimate on them. What now? Jenny gonna roll right over you either way
its not to say hes a bad card- its just, he will rely upon his other 3 skills much, much, much more. The ultimate doesn't even qualify as icing
what magical fairy land do you live in where people are using a 12 counter ultimate and others are casting progenitus?
Yeah, it's a sorcery . . . that you can play every turn with only a minimal investment in cards and tempo. Every turn. Three free cards every turn. With only a one card investment.
And it does protect itself. -1: Unsummon. Again, practically for free.
You're looking at the card and its individual abilities in a vacuum - which is a mistake.
what im saying is the fact that to protect itself it needs to remove loyalty counters make it worse. so in order to stop it from losing loyalty counters you have to take off a counter? that doesn't make much sense. and a control deck taping out on turn 4 is pretty terrible.
also people keep making the brainstorm comparison...what people aren't realizing is that brainstorm was an instant that cost u so blue decks had an eot turn 1 play if their opponent didn't cast anything..or turn 2 or 3 so on and so forth. the fact that this comes into play on turn 4 doesn't make the ability irrelevant...instead i feel that since its a sorcery speed brainstorm it's simply not as good. or even close to as good. I'm sure this new jace will see marginal play but i don't think its as good as people in this thread are making it out to be. Also the fact that its + ability doesn't protect it makes it strictly worse then elspeth or maybe even sorin.
If you are advocating this is another "lotus cobra flop" please mail me every jace you get please thanks. Because look at lotus cobra it's everywhere because it's a good card that was hyped properly because look at worlds all the famous decks had lotus cobra in it. especially magical christmas land.
magical christmas land was a bad deck....even conley said not to play it after worlds. it was a meta game call
I'v been playing a rb deck with some success on modo (a few que wins a pe t8 etc). Most of my losses have been to naya usually the ones with planeswalkers and battlegrace angel because your cards are outclassed. anyways here is the list
4 crumbling necropolis
4 savage lands
9 mountain
7 swamp
hey goc id like to return your cards and borrow other ones. if you are too busy to lend some new ones can i hold onto the ones i have for another week? lmk via text
if you mana burn by accident in irl magic you should probably quit the game. manaburning on modo is annoying but eventually you get the hang of it and stop.
anyways i need some cards for a ptq this weekend. im offering half of what i win (or the whole box if i win). im also willing to give the lender 1 promo cryptic command (in wrapper), 2 promo remove soul, 1 promo psionic blast, 1 promo ponder, 1 promo nameless inversion and 1 promo condemn. im leaving friday night so i would have to pick em up during the week:
3 engineered explosives
4 spark spray
4 path to exile
4 life from the loam
1 edge of autumn
3 astral slide
3 lightning rift
2 ***
1 finks
2 hiearch
4 secluded steppe
2 flagstones
2 eternal witness
3 cloudthresher
2 ajani vengeant

Your list needs Knight of the Reliquary...

Call...........................
anyways imo its good but not as good as it was in ext. there is too much redundancy in t2 right now.
4 crumbling necropolis
4 savage lands
9 mountain
7 swamp
4 goblin outlander
4 hells thunder
4 hellspark elemental
4 shambling remains
4 goblin deathraiders
4 blightning
4 dark temper
4 resounding thunder
4 executioners capsule
Despite what people appear to be saying, dark temper has been insane. i don't see how you win the naya matchup without it.
fighting online is like the special olympics, even if you win your still retarted
