Interesting to note that this version plays all expensive spells with no early interaction.
The top 3 finishers at this event were
1 Mono Red Aggro
2 Mono Blue Tempo
3 Esper Control
Why do you think that? He is much more of a heavy hitter, especially with the trample. He comes out faster and is a better lazav target for sure.
Sure thing. I like flashing in an attacker that bounces something. And surveils for for free.
Also, this deck probably does not want a three cmc counter. Negate and disdainful stroke would be my choice.
Overall the deck looks pretty cool.
How many activations are you getting from Lazav?
Oh and if you dont want to go all in on vraska's Contempt then Murder may be a nice choice.
You could also add Arguel's Blood fast in the side for control matchups
Since they've put in traditional ranked on mtga, I'm sure that bo1 ranked is going to be 100% rdw, so this will be my goto if I decide for quick games. I did enter my list into a Bo3 event and the few matches I ran against control I lost game 1, but won the matches. Dawn of Hope is where it's at, my friends.
Details please. Dawn of Hope seems painfully slow. Is this a main deck choice too?
Hello Everyone,
For the first FNM of RNA, I brought the list in the first post to my LGS. And it is an expen$ive deck. With only four rounds, the turn out was smaller than usual because of SCG Indy.
Unfortunately I went 0-2 and threw in the towel. Losing to Naya RGW Big Dinosaurs and Rakdos Midrange. There were however mulligan issues in both matches.
Perhaps Orzhov Control is really only good at beating Gruul Aggro. Or maybe I am looking at the construction of the deck incorrectly. But it seems the concept of Orzhov control is a failed experiment. Sorry folks
Any comments and criticism are welcome
Thanks for the support.
What do control decks want?
Card draw.
Life gain.
Mana sink.
Evasive creature. Hydroid Krasis answers all of these. And it has flash on top of that. Ridiculous.
Your'e in Bant. Should be an auto in.
Hello Z31tG315t,
Thank you for you thoughtful and unique design on Orzhov Control. Your multitude of enchantments weaken the effect of opposing Mortify answers. Your list warrants some testing. Kaya, Orzhov Usurper has never been a bad draw for me. Because she helps stablize against creature attacks gaining us life and forcing a response from the enemy. Kaya also removes recurring threats like GutterBones, Arclight Phoenix, and anything Find // Finality may want.
One thing about Kaya is that she interferes with The Eldest Reborn
1 Angel of Grace
3 Lyra Dawnbringer

Artifacts (6)
2 Thaumatic Compass
4 Treasure Map
2 Ixalan's Binding
2 The Eldest Reborn
2 Ethereal Absolution
Lands (25)
1 Arch of Orazca
1 Detection Tower
4 Field of Ruin
4 Godless Shrine
4 Isolated Chapel
3 Orzhov Guildgate
4 Plains
4 Swamp
4 Duress
2 Amulet of Safekeeping
