    Hi all,

So I took GW Tron to my LGS for modern tonight (this exact list). I've just put it together and don't usually play modern at my store (I'm at the store every week but I mainly play modern online)so I didn't know the meta going in. I was wondering about the colour to play alongside green. Red, black or white? I stuck with white because of the sideboard options.

    I had these match ups:

    Match 1 vs Dredge

Game 1 on the play, he did lots of the things that dredge does, I played t3 wurmcoil engine, t4 world breaker which kept his creatures at bay. Wiped his board with o stone and exiled his graveyard with relic. Game over.

Game 2 on the draw I went t2 rest in peace, t3 wurmcoil, t4 Karn for the win.

    Match 2 vs Lantern Control

Game 1 on the play T3 Karn exile a land and he scooped next turn.

Game 2 on the draw was a more drawn out game with him controlling my library a bit more, he had a bridge keeping my wurmcoil and world breaker at bay. I played Ulamog, fetched another with sanctum and blew up his bridge. He scooped the next turn.

    Match 3 vs Grixis Control

    Game 1
On the draw, played a T3 Wurmcoil to eat a counter then played Karn on T4 for the win.

Game 2 On the draw I stumbled and got hit by crumble to dust. Died to snap casters and GDD.

Game 3 on the play I never got tron. Attempted to cast Karn for the full 7 mana on t8 but it eat a cryptic command and I died to bolt snap bolt.

    Match 4 vs Infect

    Game 1

On the play I played a T4 Ugin and he scooped.

    Game 2

On the draw I played T3 Karn but he had the blossoming defence and killed me next turn.

    Game 3

On the play he didn't draw the pump spells after a mull to six, I wiped his board with o stone on t4 then played ulamog t5 to exile his creature and a land, to which he scooped.

So I went 3-1 which I'm quite happy with. I feel like I got a little unlucky in game 3 vs Grixis but a bit lucky in game 3 vs infect so it balanced out.

I feel like in my meta, white is definitely the way to go but I like that it's quite easy to change to another colour if the meta shifts.

A lot of the people at my store were saying that they think if Tron becomes dominant now that the meta is going to slow down, then something will be banned from the deck. Most suggesting Ugin. What do you guys think?

Somebody mentioned this earlier but I don't think a link was posted.

    It's the Bant Spirits league.

Is anyone playing an Esper build? I wanted to go more control with counters and hand disruption.

While I'm happy that the format of the two British GP's are modern and limited, I'm a bit bummed that the first one isn't until August, an earlier one like GP Manchester this year would have been good.

I started with these in the side but they just don't kill much in the current meta so I took them out.

This was my deck for game day. My meta went really control heavy and it was a bad day at the office for me. 2-2-1 Saturday. 0-3 Sunday. Sunday was just a train wreck, mulligans and awful draws galore. I'm determined to get this thing in working order, I have 4 weeks until the GP. I have the deck on MTGO now so I will be testing a lot more.

I have made a couple of changes since gameday.

    + 1 Chandra, Flamecaller
    + 1 Dragonlord Kolaghan
    - 1 GDD
    - 1 Arlinn Kord

    SB
    + 1 Seasons Past
    - 1 Dragonmaster Outcast

With Planeswalkers becoming more and more prevalent I think I may need to up Ruinous path up to 3 or even 4 in the 75. Maybe two more mainboard and take out the sinister concoction. What do you guys think?

How are people doing against U/R Goggles? I've played against it a few times now and it just wrecks me. They just burn everything I have, then I bring it back with pulse and they kill it again. Equally anything like they play that is killable (mainly Jace,) we kill but they don't really care if we do. We can bring in naturalise for goggles and ruinous path for Chandra but I keep just getting ground out by them. I know for a fact that a couple of players in my meta are playing this deck because I watched them at FNM the other day.

I've changed my deck sightly to go more of the tool box route, so there is a one of pick the brain, one of infinite obliteration and a one of ruinous path MB as well as a fourth GDD. My deck doesn't have a creature to play on turn 3 so taking that turn to take creatures of spells out of their deck seems fine. I don't mind casting pick the brain on turn 3 because we can flash it back when we have delirium using GDD.

Do you have Kolaghan's Command ? Casting 1 destroying goggles and flashing it back 2 turns after with GDD to destroy a second copy should give you some time
Pick the brain and infinite obliteration main is not really good, moreso if some people at your fnm are playing ur goggles. It's 2 dead cards
Orbs of warding side can be something ? Giving you hexproof protect you from their 20 damage fireball.

There is a lot of GR ramp and bant company too, that's what they are for. K's command is probably the best bet, I don't actually have any so I was trying to get away with not shelling out for them but I will just have to bite the bullet. I want to take this deck to the GP next month so I will be fine tuning over the next month.

Yep LSV said that Kalitas main was a problem since the deck runs 0 removal main deck.
I feel pretty confident on keeping 2 Kalitas Main from now on since this deck will start popping out everywhere Grin

Yeh, I was dithering on whether or not to keep Kalitas in but on seeing the sac dec be a thing again I'l most definitely be keeping him in.

I agree with a lot of what you say here, good write up. I'm not convinced on Ks Command. I feel like I'd rather just have another pulse. I was running Kozileks Return at first but it really is bad in the current meta. Languish and radiant flames are a must. Arlinn is very situational, she can be great or meh. I don't want to run more than 1.

This is what I am testing at the moment.

The mana base has been pretty consistent. With evolving wilds and Traverse, we are usually able to tend to our specific turn 4 needs. Delirium gets turned on pretty easily. Even if you take a hit of two from the demon there are three Pulse in the main board and three GDD to flash them back. I'm happy with it for the most part but I'm unsure about Sinister Concoction and Kalitas. Neither feel great, to be honest I've not played Kalitas consistently enough to get a good feel for him but when I have played him I haven't been overly impressed.

I started out with Thunderbreak Regents but Mindwrack Demon is so much better. He puts things in our grave yard so that we can interact with them through pulse and GDD and you can drop him t4, hit them for 4 on t5 then languish to wipe their board, leaving him alive. I'm going to be testing and what not on Xmage for the next couple of weeks, I don't play standard at FNM so paper testing will be infrequent. I hope to have a tuned build for gameday, there seem to be a few different Jund builds going around. Thoughts and criticisms would be appreciated.

As far as Pick the Brain goes, I think it could be a solid sideboard card. Maybe just as a one of. I've been testing with 4 Mindwrack Demon and turning on delirium has been really easy. Also playing pulse to be able to get things (GDD) back and then flashing pulse back with GDD has been sweet. It always feels like you are pulling ahead on cards.

I don't play a lot of standard but I like the look of jund right now. I'm building a heftier version of it with world breakers at the top of my curve. I have two kozileks return MB but I'm wondering if I should swap them for languish as they don't hit a lot of bant cocos creatures.

why do you want to play with Worldbreakers? seems like a pretty hostile meta for a card like that.

Having read more of this thread and looking at the meta as it is, I have taken them out. I was only running 1 GDD, so I will probably up this to three. I also put 2 Languish in the MB and moved the Kozileks Return to the SB but I'l probably swap them out for Radiant Flames.

I splashed this in my R/B beatdown deck at the weekend, it ranged from good to meh. If I had a creature they could otherwise trade with, then NM made combat difficult for them but if they had no good blocks in the first place it made little difference. Playing it turn 2 then dropping Bloodmad Vampire on turn 3 was good, it only happened once but it did real work.
