How interesting would it be if the 4-color commanders were hybrid costs that let you play them as a heavily 2-color deck if you wanted to?
Like a cost of 2(B/R)(B/R)(G/W)(G/W)
the strange outcome of this would be the layout. until now hybrid cards have the "calor-fade" layout between 2 colors and not the classic gold layout of multicolor, a card with more than one hybrid mana should go with a 3-4 color fade? or the gold one?
I'm still more inclined with 3 set of commander for each deck (like older commanders precon):
main commander with a classic 4 color cost like nephalim UBRG
secondary commander in 2 color casting with 2 off-color activated ability (like UB with G activated and R activated)
secondary commander in the opposite 2 color casting with off color hybrid triggered (like RG with a triggered Alesha-style)
The Vivid lands, as well as the Tempest fetches, both still fit. My money's on the latter, given that some haven't seen modern border yet, and that those that have do not have foils. But we'll know shortly!
Tempest fetches? are you messing with Mirage slow-fetch? Tempest has a cycle of slow-painlands
I suspect the last mythic is going to be a card virtually no one cares about, so Akroma or Baneslayer as a reanimator target seems fairly likely.
Linvala (who I was hoping for) or a rarity-shifted Land Tax would be significant enough to warrant a spoiler.
I'll be interested to see if anything at all of note is spoiled today. They held back a few solid reprints (Stifle comes to mind) when they released the full Conspiracy spoiler two years ago, but MM2015's full spoiler release was pure jank.
well, they still can get out an article with the last mythic preview and the full spoiler in the same day, i don't know how this was handled on previous spoiler for limited relase like this
they were originally UC so they can be in without the need to have too many rare lands, they are an allied cycle so an enemy cycle at rare can be used, and they support cards like deathrite shaman (that needs land in yard)
Nature's Lore is a good common and we need a good ramp.
The second slot can go for Oath at rare or One with Nature (U or down to C) as both can fit the WG enchant theme. Maybe OwN is more likely as OoD needs a very specific deck to really shine and it's difficult to really use it in limited
My prediction for the simic uncommon is Gilder Bairn, it fits directly after tickle-spider.
it seems quite unlikely as it not support any known archetype and needs some support to use the untap mechanic
wood sage has potential to get in, uncommon in conspiracy and send cards to graveyard, so it supports flashback/threshold... forget this, we were talking about hybrids not multicolor
we end up at 39 cards for each color, with 2 mythics for each color.
That leaves 10 more slots in multicolor for the following: WU needs a rare and an uncommon UB needs an uncommon (can't be Psychatog) BR needs an uncommon GW needs both a rare and an uncommon WB needs an uncommon GU needs an uncommon RW needs an uncommon
plus one additional slot for a multicolor card or an artifact before Ashnod's Altar if Giant Solifuge is the last hybrid.
Based on what someone said (sorry!) Armadillo Cloak is likely the uncommon for the GW enchantments archetype (but it could also theoretically be Sterling Grove.
I've edited the OP to correct the numbers and give blue, black, red, and green each 39 slots.
this can be quite right. the red slot can be Young Pyromancer and the last green slot can be Worldly Tutor and Lodge as a "green" land
Comparing the mythic distribution with MMA (MM2 was a bit off because of eldrazi and karn being colorless) the 15 mythic was split 2 each color 2 multi and 3 artifact and no land.
Karakas can be considered the second white mythic (even if it's a land it can be considered a white card) and the 2 last one would be a green (berserk) and a third artifact (an equip like jitte to consolidate cawblade and SFM at rare?)
I see many people hoping for Stoneforge Mystic, but there are no equipment in the set, not even Batterskull to justify it's inclusion. I just don't see it happening, or am I missing something?
we are currently at 60/249 cards, so less than 1/4 of the set. it's still plenty of room to get some equip in R/U/C slot, and if karakas has to be counted as the second white mythic the last Mythic slot can be an equip (Batterskull for example)
I thought equipment were numbered along with the other artifacts, making Batterskull not possible anymore?
218 Ashnod's Altar U
219 Chrome Mox M
Also any swords would be kinda silly, and some random uncommon equipment wouldn't really make sense either. I also agree that Jitte would just be a terror in Limited, which they tend to think about a lot (too much IMO).
my bad, didn't check the number of altar, so batterskull is out. jitte can be a terror but at mythic it's supposed to be seen a lot less (same explanation of other mythic)
thinking of it, i hope so, I alredy have a butterskull, but I traded away all my jitte form kamigawa, it would be good to get one back (with an upgraded art maybe)
I've completely forgotten that those existed, I was not actively playing during Alara
