Keep in mind that in modern there are better removal than standard Wink

Anyways I like your idea of using honor of the pure to put Depala out of reach of lightnings. You are right that this card does almost everything (draw, beat, pump) and the other dwarves have relevant ETB's (scry 2), Destroy artifact/enchants, Remove creature,....

I don't know if vehicles are fast enough to modern but I've seen the standard deck finish a game in turn 4 which is the supposed critical turn, but not sure if this make the deck viable in modern.

You can also choose to play Taurean Mauler which is not white, but with depala out it's bolt proof too.

Lot of thanks for your replies!!!!!!

The list you propose Burning Force seems good too. I'm little worried about cutting artifact creatures because we need to have redundancy on them to reach delirium easily when you discard them.

Anyways having two more options to discard is good and a 4/4 body could be useful.

About the evolutions I'm not sure at all because we want that our spells remains in graveyard once they have been casted so I'm looking for another option here.

Also I've tested painful truth and it's not good here. It's slow at 3CC, it hurts you a lot (lightning oneself is not a great deal in a fast metagame as the one we have now) so I would like to find another way to fill my hand.

Any other ideas and suggestions?? Lot of thanks for your answers. People keep posting!!! Wink

    Hi all,

Since the printing of phyrexian obliterator and fume spitter I've always been trying to build a horror deck (a deck with lot of horrors that horrifies my opponent).

Now I think I've found a build that seems strong enough and really good to compete :). Anyways it's not complete in some points so perhaps you could help here Wink

    Overview of the Deck
The deck goal is to play obliterators and some horror friends and winning after all ;). This deck wins the game by smashing the face but have some reach and lot of inner synergy inside it. Is a proactive deck that tries to win while being able to fight with creatures against other decks in the format.
You have to play this deck if you like black and green, if you like obliterators, if you hate counterspells (because we play one single type of creatures (horrors) and 4 Cavern of Souls and if you like synergy ;).

    Decklist

    Card Choices
Fume Spitter Rate5 - One of the best one drops that wrecks lot of decks. This tiny 1/1 can kill any ramp creature in turn 1 so slows that decks that relies on birds or hierarchs. Also can kill any infect creature because of the counter is permanent, can kill confidants, and shrink any big dude in the table.
Gnarlwood Dryad Rate5 - This little dryad is going to be a 3/3 deathtouch dude almost every time in this deck for one single green mana. A great beater and a removal all in one.
Loam Dryad Rate3.5 - A horror that ramps you. It's not very impresive but making you drop obliterator in turn three instead four is great. Also make use of all your dudes when enter the battlefield and have summoning sickness.
Spellskite Rate5 - Great creature as all of you know and much more in this deck. It helps to your dudes (Obliterators I'm thinking on you) and prevent infect, boggles and such decks to go on. It fulfill almost another role being artifact and creature so helps to get delirium to pump the [card]Gnarlwood Dryad[/card
Phyrexian Revoker Rate4.5 - Another great creature that fulfills both roles, help you to stop combo in some decks and while can beat id dies helps you to reach delirium.
Scrapheap Scrounger Rate5 - The only non horror creature in the deck. This is good because help to get delirium, is a recursive beater and combos with the next guy.
Eternal Scourge Rate5 - This guy is going to be a Nightmare for any control deck. It can not be killed with spells and come back for 3 whenever you want. The only way to kill this guy is with a mass removal spell or in combat but, guess what? if any of thos situations happen you can exile it from graveyard with Scrapheap Scrounger, so he is ready to rock again Wink
Phyrexian Obliterator Rate5 - The best horror in the deck. A nightmare for every creature based deck and a tank to kill the opponent and beat hard.
Collective Brutality Rate5 - This card here is awesome. It helps to get delirium on turn two for your dryads (turn 1 fetch dryad, turn 2 this (discarding any of our 12 artifact creatures) and you have a better wild nacatl while killing a creature in the other side or making discard a combo piece, removal, etc.
Abrupt Decay Rate4.5 - A catch all removal that helps you against faster decks. Anyways you probably want do diversify here.
Cavern of Souls Rate5 - The only reason to play only horrors But because they are so good on its own is only an upside.

The deck is working great for me but it have some problems right now.

First and the most important point to solve is that the deck lacks of card advantage. I'm thinking on using Painful Truths here (because we can draw 3 for 3 mana easily) but perhaps it could be slow and makes me to cut any creature of the deck (and all of them are so good Wink ) so not sure what to cut for them.

Secondly perhaps more non-creature removal would be needed (Nahiri I'm watching at you!! (lucky we have the revokers ehh Wink but they tend to be killed a lot) and any planeswalker or enchantment sometimes is difficult to get rid of if you can't use the decays (for example worship)) so may be a single or a couple of maelstrom pulse can be included here.

Well guys what do you think? The deck is strong and really funny and can compete seriously with the current meta because our creatures are answers to Tier decks.

Any help is appreciated so keep posting!!! Wink

In teh burning force list there are two cards that could fit there:

Lingering souls (As you said it provides two bodies for being sacrified and can be discarded with any of your discard oulets to gain advantage). Would be nice to switch from red to white because it also provides better sideboard but there is not good white vampires and you need at least 8 of them in the one drop slot Frown

The new Weaponcraft Enthusiast. This little guy provides three bodies at the same time to just being sacrified to pariah, everything in a single card Wink

Would be nice to find creatures that comes into play with more friends Wink like this one (sengir Autocrat is really bad Frown )

Thanks D90Dennis14, Exactly what you said : Blood-Chin Rager and Collected Company respectively.

About your suggestions lot of thanks but these are cards I've tested and discarded at one point of the deck development. Right now I think this is the more stable version I've been able to build.

Brutal Hordechief and batlle-axe are 1 of and they have proved that in the right moment can change the game. The hordechief provides reach when the board is full and you have no rager and the axe makes the deck faster after you have it into play. You can cut them but for now I like how they are performing in the deck.

I don't like to put more non friendly to collected company cards in the MD (abrupt decay Wink ) so they are in the SDB.

About Ambusher and gatekeeper you are right that sometimes is difficult to play the keepers (although the manabase has lot of black sources and even urborg) and ambusher has proven to be warrior answer to infect and faster decks.

Lot of thanks for your comments. Any other suggestions??

I've built a warrior deck and it works really fine. I'm going to post here to know your suggestions.

The list I'm playing currently is:

    Creatures (33)
    4 Bloodsoaked Champion
    4 Mardu Woe-Reaper
    4 Bramblewood Paragon
    4 Blood-Chin Rager
    4 Chief of the Edge
    4 Gatekeeper of malakir
    4 Arashin Foremost
    3 Qasali Ambusher
    1 Brutal Hordechief
    1 kalitas, traitor of ghet
    Spells (9)
    1 Obsidian Battle-Axe
    4 Path To exile
    4 Collected Company
    Lands (22)
    4 Cavern of Souls
    1 Godless Shrine
    4 Marsh Flats
    1 Overgrown Tomb
    1 Plains
    1 Forest
    1 Swamp
    2 Temple Garden
    2 Windswept Heath
    4 B/W Fastland (from kaladesh)
    1 Urborg, tomb of yawgmoth

I have still to remove a couple of cards but the deck is working really bonkers because have lot of sinergy, really fast plays and is somewhat resilient because the champions, company and battleaxe. It has lot of angles to attack and can win by hordechief trick if the table is clogged. Beside of that the creatures have evasion, thanks to rager and lot of power tahnks to arashin, parangons, and chiefs.

I'm using three ambusher because although they seem crap they are really useful by fetching a temple garden on second turn and being able to block profitably any infect dude, kill any burn baby (guides and eidolones) and is always having free dudes ;). I count them as our 9-11 one drop warriors ;).

As I've said the deck is working fine but I have to remove some cards to left it in 60-61. I'm thinking on cutting 1 rager, 1 path to exile (to the sideboard) and something more.

I also would like to include 1 kalitas more because he is fantastic (sometimes is a tasigur on steroids or a 4/4 or even doublestriking and lifelinking guy Wink )

    What do you think?

Perhaps you can include 1 x Master of cruelties so you can instawin sometimes with Alesha. Another option would be gigantomancer as well

First of all I appreciate a lot all your suggestions ;).

But also there are some points I don't agree with you:

When you say that: "When you want to pay the mana for Magnivore you could also pay for Stuffy Doll" thats not really true. In fact you can reach four mana consistently but five is more difficult by far. Stuffy doll is great And It was in my previous lists but five mana are sometimes too late to do anything.

Also you say that faithless sooting is card disadvantage (which sometimes it's not because you discard it with wrath and play later for card quality or because you discard demigods and unuseful sorceries to make your magnivore bigger and your bedlams cheaper). I can't think of this deck without them because they are so good.

Talking about card disadvantage is what Pyretic Ritual is. It's tempo advantage but card disadvantage at same time. I think I have better things to do in turn 2 (like pyroclasm to clear the table of affinity robots, infect critters, and lot of cheap creatures).

About flame slash, I know lightning bolt is awesome and lot of us like it, but it's an instant so It doesn't help for magnivores, and can't kill GDD, Restoration angels, wall of omens,...

The citadels can't be included in my list because playing demigods and reckoners involves that we need that all the mana provides R. You can play fetches, you can play flagstones with sacred foundry for not loosing lands, but citadel is not very impressive and without rituals they have no place here.

I would like to include some GDD but they are my 62, 63 cards and have no free slots for them in my list.

Also removing Blasphemous Act seems counterintutive to me. It can be discarded with wrath for 9 damage, it usually finish the opponent with a reckoner in play and usually it cost 4 or 5 mana as much and they are the wraths 5-8 in this deck.

Seems that I'm discussing all your suggestions but it's not the case at all. Some things you said I've already tested them and others I'm not agree with them.

For your sideboard is better that you use Boil instead boiling seas because it's instant ;). (In my list I'm not sure because magnivore love sorceries)

Anyways I'll test your whole list and see what happens but I think I like more my list as it is in this moment.

There are other RED or colorless cards that can be played in this deck like:

    Flamewake Phoenix
    Goblin Dark-Dwellers
    Koth of the Hammer
    Spitemare
    Stuffy Doll

I've tested them and don't think they are good enough for the final list but I appreciate any suggestions Wink

  • posted a message on Nahiri's Wrath Combo
    Hi all

I'm working in a deck that revolves around Nahiri's Wrath and that is working really fine to me right now. It has several win conditions and is funny as hell. Beside of that has enough removal and hate to compete in the actual meta.

    The list is the following:

    4 flame Slash
    4 Faithless looting
    4 Boom/Bust
    3 Pyroclasm
    2 Anger of the Gods
    4 Boros Reckoner
    4 Nahiri's Wrath
    3 Blood Moon
    4 Magnivore
    4 Demigod of revenge
    4 Bedlam Reveler
    3 Blasphemous Act

    20 Mountain

As you can see the deck has lot of synergy, we have 19 cards that deals 5 or more damage when discarded with wrath and have another good uses. Demigod loves to be in the grave, Reveler refuels your hand and usually cost RR, Magnivore is usually a hasting 8/8 creature or even bigger and meanwhile you are plenty of removal to finish every single threat your opponent can play.

You have pyroclasm for affinity and infect, followed by anger of the gods to remove those pesky recurring creatures and in the 3CC slots you have 3 Blood Moon That hoses lot of decks in the current meta and is the only non creature-sorecery of the deck. Beside of that boom/bust will help you against infect, Tron and the so.

You have inside the combo of Blasphemous act/ Nahiri wrath + Boros reckoner for more fun.

It has a really solid manabase but If you want to splash a color these are the options I can see more viable:

    BLACK
    -Ragged Veins
    -DreadBore
    -Duress
    -ThoughtSeize

    WHITE
    -Nahiri, the Harbinger
    -Flagstones of trokair (boom/bust)
    -Oust
-Soulfire Grandmaster (nets you lot of life)
-Kor Firewalker (for Burn match up)

    GREEN
-Hornet Nest Lot of deadly wisps fore more fun

Anyways splashing another color dilutes the sorcery strategy and probably you will have to cut magnivores and/or revelers which are awesome in testing.

    What do you think?

    Any ideas or improvements?

well, I built a deck like this one lot of time ago (then there wasn't nemesis of mortals and the so)and used goultree and splinterfright and the snake, but it wasn't much efficient so i forget it. In this deck I used mulch and eternal witness because your threats go to the grave lot of times. Nowdays it is not the case. I tested it at the begining but almost always were a vanilla girl that return me another fatty (but not needed) or the best of the times she served me to replay Beast within.

So, yes, i´ve tested them but discarded because they are slow and don't do as much as you can expect for a three CC guy.

I don't recommend you cutting splinterfright. Usually he is the biggest guy of all your guyas and beside of that serves you to continue fueling your grave. Instead of it I´ll suggest you cutting the mandrils. A 4/4 in a world full of tasigur and siegue rinos is not the best bargain and casting them means you are not going to play you other fatties in a time.

About Nylea it could be an option. I thought about her too but decided to add one more Kessig Wolf Run instead. The reason is because it can't be countered and because make all your little dudes /sakuras, cantors and satyrs) bombs with legs.

I'm thinking on including primeval titan (because we have lot of ramp and mana search) in the SDB so when people sideboards grave hate you can include the titans, search the kessig and begin the party.

I think the deck needs few more removal so perhaps we must find another body that kill dudes and the so.

Finally, i tested this deck with cyclers (deadshot minotaur, monstruous carabid and the so) but is another different deck.

I think including another threat in the deck would be fantastic, but it must have sinergy with the whole thing.

    Any ideas?

PD: Slithermuse could be hilarious here Wink

I´ve been testing this deck with some changes and it's awesome. I've replaced the eternal witness and tracker for shriekmaw and added some Faerie macabre maindeck. Beside of that I've increased the number of beast within maindeck and also de gnaw to the bones.

For me it's working fantastic. I have to try it in a tournament to see what can it do agaisnt a real metagame.
