  • posted a message on Rakdos hazoret favor god pharaoh gift
    Hello everybody,

I'm building a RB deck based on hazoret's favor, god-pharaoh's gift and creatures that his strength matters(beside combat I mean).

I've been playint it and wins lot of games, although sometimes is bit inconsistent and I have the feeling that I'm missing some cards to finally broke it.

    The decklist :

As you can see there are lot of cute combos and synergies inside.
Only for marking some of them:
    - Favor + kingpin = hit with a 4/5 and put 4 goblin tokens
    - favor + butcher = deal 3 in combat and 3 more when dies
    - kingpin/butcher + stamina = LOF, put tokens or deal damage and keep the creature to continue the party
    - gift + kingpin = fill all the board with plenty of tokens
    - gift + butcher = beat with a monster that deals 4 when dies
    - propector + goblin tokens = Cast GOGP from your hand
    - Prospector : reach 3 mana on turn 2 and put aother creature to GTA
    - Supplier + Stamina = Mill 9 cards to the grave
    - favor + supplier = mill 6 and deal 3 damage
    - Judith + any other creature = profit (more when you have lot of gobbos or creatures that look his power to do something)
    - Bloodsoaked champion + favor = 4/1 haste each turn
    - Relentless dead + any zombie + it dying= reusable zombies
    - Relentless dead + any zombie + favor = reusable zombies + 4/2 amost unblockable guy
    - Dreahorde arcanist + Stamina = Reusable trick that also pumps
    - and much more fun Wink

I'm very satisfied with my list right now, but I think it needs little tweaks and feel that something is missing.

Things I would love to have:
    - I would like to have more creatures that act as removal. Something like shriekmaw, martyr of ashes, etc. The options in this slot are very expensive (being ravenous chupacabra the goal of this function (but it should be better if it would be cheaper (and even better if it would be a zombie or goblin also)). The options i have in mind here are goblin chainwhirler (the RRR hurts a lot), fleshbag marauder and friends, and ravenous chupacabra (which is very expensive).
    - Creatures that act as mass removal (something that is a creature and deals 2+ damage when enters the battlefield)
    - A way to recover gates when they go to the grave (sometimes you mill them but can't recover). Something like goblin welder would be superb but you know....
    - Another creature (besides butcher, krenko) that does obscene things looking to its power (so favor increase this effect).

    Other cards I'm considering:

Cards tested and disliked so were discarded because underperformed:

    and much others ...

Any advice and help is really welcome!! Lot of thanks for it!

Can you please post your list?

I'm working on my own list of rakdos sacrifice deck (based on hazoret's favor which is a card I always tried to break) with medium success although I'm liking it a lot!!

If you want I can share also my list.

i have doubts about how the new cards can be played. I mean: Foulmire Knight can be played in each of his modes? Should be played in order (first draw and later the guy)? Can be haakoned in both modes btw?

I also always loved the haakon route, and right now, I'm very intrigued in a list I developed in the past (although it worked really fine, it was discarded because all the grave hate), but now I would like to see if it can compete in the new meta (and even more with eldraine cards!!).

    It was:

The deck has some plans A) swarm cheap knights and tokens and win via history. B) Use haakon recursiveness to kick out the opponent from the game. C) fire off the opponent with the corpse and all entering the battlefield triggers (you can use bloodline on each turn. In previous versions Squee, goblin nabob help me on this task but in the last lists I don't have enough pay offs to include them in the deck and even more with all the grave hate ramping everywhere thanks to hogaak. Anyways it can be included with smallpox as well to get advantage of this).

Another thing I'm very intrigued abouth is if the list with colossus hammer and sigarda's aid and the so is competitive enough for modern. Does anybody tested those lists?

I'm testing a new list because with all new vamps and also with a new synergy I've found, It worth be tested.

    My list is :

I'm testing the package of training grounds that synergies with:

And combo nicely with knights, making them able to attack for a lot even at surprise (my opponent see only a knight so attack me with everything and in my turn crack fetch, search grave, cast training ground and beat for a bazillion)

Also using the other combo: Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord + Bloodhall Priest or Olivia Voldaren (olivia + grounds + sorin = machine gun).

There could be another combo . Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord + Arcane Adaptation + emrakul (insert another fatty of your choice here) but perhaps it would be very marginal or fringe to try it?

In my testings this list works good, any advice is welcome also!!

I've been tweaking the manabase a bit. The deck needs R in first turn (to looting or neonate (or in lesser times the harbingers)) so we need lands that produce red in first turns. I've to say that mana confluence are overperforming in the deck helping us to cast any spell in the deck.
About Primal/cavern I've chosen 4/2 but a 3/3 or 2/4 can be valid also. Anyways I've cut two mountains for two Blood crypt to see if this is lot of damage or if it's affordable.

About spitebellows: There are very marginal times where you cast it or reanimate it and lose something you don't want to. Is one of the best cards to reanimate against aggro because it usually kills two creatures each row and if not blocked is a massive 6 damage to the face. The good news is that because we play so many good creatures to reanimate, you are going to reanimate spite when you need it but if you don't need removal you can reanimate skelemental.
Also there is the trick of reanimate spitebellows to kill our harbinger to be able to find another elemental we need (usually versperlark, ME or risen reef)

About incandescent soulstoke. I played it in early iterations but removed it completely without looking back. We don't play expensive dudes so the sneak attack effect is not very valuable. I played it with a single pepinillo but I had to remove it because he was useless most of the time. Also soulstoke can't be reanimated sadly with lark or awakener.
Also the 3CC was awful also. The only thing that benefit the deck was the lord effect but at three mana was a meh. I was even thinking on testing the new pseudo-lord that also can pump himself but I'm not sure is better than mirror entity in this deck (ME pump all your team and can be reanimated with any of our 11 reanimators). I can see soulstoke in another kind of elemental decks (probably with through the breach and things like that but believe me, i've tested it and always hate drawing it Frown ).

I think that with the banning of bridges, grave removal will be less prevalent. Anyways I was thinking if the deck could support another kind of finisher. Particularly I was thinking if greater gargadon could deserve a slot in this deck. Is a bad topdeck, and well, can be dead lot of times, but help us when we need to sacrifice one of our duudes to avoid path to exile and the so, and can be a finisher if grave plan fails, although it can be chump blocked every day so I'm not very sold on it. Also he can't be searched with harbinger....

I'm looking for more options that can help our awakeners to avoid exile spells (which hurt us, because they can be reanimated easily but if they are exiled we lose a lot). Any idea here is welcome.

You always have greater gargadon for sac and more profit. I used a deck like this one in the past, lot of time ago, and used gargadon for more profit and slithermuse to refill my hand

    Hello,

I was reluctant to post my list because it has lot of hours of work on it and is working really good, but I'm not planning to go to a big tourney soon and although it's working really good for me, new ideas are always welcome so here we go.

The deck is a blast to play and capable of winning in the beginning of the game or grind later (thanks to Risen Reef and ME).

    Few notes to my list:

    - The insolent neonate s are nuts. This deck wants any target in the grave in the first turn to be reanimated in second with the awakener. Between Looting and neonates we have 8 ways to put a target in the grave first turn while advancing in our library to look for the awakener(in case we didn't draw it in the first seven, or another card in case we have it). Also neonates are really good nay because they get rid of briges of below of hogaak decks right now which happen to be one of his best cards also. Finally it can be reanimated with vesperlark if needed in tha case we need deseperately another card.

    - Unearth: This gives us redundancy so between the awakeners, vesperlarks and unearth we are always being capable of having one awakener ready to go. Also they are a way to put Risen reef from grave into play paying only a single B and don't lose card advantage in the process because the draw of reef. Same for Mirror entity which can be also reanimated with vesperlark and awakener.

-Spitebellows: They are our 5-9 balls of choice. They are SO good (being capable of killing a hogaak online (or opponent taking six for them and killing another dude (carrion feeder or whatever). Is the only targeted removal I'm playing right now but I'm very happy with them. They can also be reanimated with awakener and deal 12 to creatures or 6 to face and 6 to creature). They can even serve to kill our own dudes (Harbinger, i'm watcching at you) to be reanimated with aweakener later for more profit.

Key to the city: It is a powerhouse in this deck. One of my best tech here. He give us fuel in the grave to reanimate with awakener while make awakener unblockable so we can beat turn after turn against creature heavy decks without loosing our awakener. Thanks to Risen Reef we get a lot of cards in hand so there is never a drawback to discard one (even lands in grave help to multani).

Awakener, vesper and reef are the core of the deck. Their numbers are right (although I sometimes tried to use one more reef but again drawing two slows the deck so i'm fine with that configuration).

Silver Bullets: Festercreep, Mirror Entity, scampering scorcher, Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar, cytospawn shambler: Each of this ones serves for a purpose in the deck.

The creep is our way to deal with tokens. It can kill all those pesky tokens 1/1, lingering souls, elementals from master of waves, goblins from storm and you know a good way to prevent some decks to be so wide. The problem is that sometimes we need a more efficient mass removal. To fill this role I'm looking for something that serve us and don't damage us as well. I.E. anger of the goods hurt us too so only things like bonfire of the damned can be used in this slot.

Mirror entity: Our finisher. Play scorcher, create tokens pump with entity --> Profit.
Also entity can serve you to make our awakener bigger, so in side when I sometimes used fulminator mages I've been capable of reutilizing them thanks to ME making awakener thoughness >3. I'm even thinking on including a second MD. She is a must kill but again can be reanimated with any of our 11 reanimators.

Scorcher is for making dudes. To stall the game or the create an army to beat with.

Multani: My finisher of choice. Not only he is big (sometimes even more than 10 power thanks to reef, key, looting, neonates and the so and again can be reanimated with any of our 11 reanimators). He also has reach wich sometimes is very helpfull.

Shambler is the second go tall answer that also happens to combo because when I reanimate him with awakener and after beating I can cast more critters that will get a +1/+1 counter for free and again I'll have a 6/6 trampler in next turn.

As you can see there are lot of tricks in this deck and if you play it you will see that it works really good (I've put lot of hours on it right now).

I'm still working on side, each day I've been including/removing one or another card. Right now the number on sideboard cards are changing every time I play it but I know I would play:

So well, you now have a list, you only have to use it ;). Hope you enjoy a lot and I encourage you to test it.

Since the spoiler of Thunderkin Awakener I've been brewing and after lot of testing and refining I've been able to create a list I'm very happy with.

Lately I've been testing against hoogak dredgevine a lot and my list is able to be 50/50 pre board so not bad at all.

I can win consistently on turn 3 if not disrupted/blocked and on turn 4 if blocked. First turn FL, Second awakener reanimating lightning skelemental, third awakener reanimate skelemental, play skelemental (or any ball you have or turn 2 reanimate sipebellows and third same with a ball)...

Also the list has surprised me a lot. It's a really good and explosive deck while being one of the funniest decks I've built and played in a long time.

The success of this deck is based on three new elementals that are incredible:

these three ones are the core of the deck and each of them has a great synergy with others.

Right now I'm trying to find an elemental that is capable of deal with lot of tokens (because I'm afraid of cards that fill the table with so many tokens in first turns so attacking into them could hurt). I found festercreep for that role but only giving -1/-1 could not be enough sometimes. I.e. Games I lost against hogaak because he is able to create so many zombie tokens that is not possible to attack profitably. Is something marginal but would be great having a weapon against decks that go wide fast.

Beside of that, I'm thinking on the SDB. Wispmare and ingot chewer will be there in some numbers, but I'm not sure about:
    1) grave hate: Offalsnout is an option but not being recursive (thg2 power2) and only removing one card seems a waste of slots for me. Leyline of the void could be an option but I'm not very sold on it and RIP is not an option because we like our grave too. Which could be the best hate against grave that does not affect us ? Surgical extraction may be?
    2) Other elemental removal with legs: Spitebellows is greeat in this deck. Right now is my only removal of choice (bloodpyre elemental exists but is harder to hardcast and deals less damage while also being red) and it's performing absurdly well but I've found that sometimes, another removal would be neccessary. The other day against a mono-U wizard's deck my opponent put a master of waves into play (with a naban, dean of iteration also into play)and I could not kill it before the waves killed me. Pro-red is that good. Talking about master of waves, If you manage to mix a master with Risen Reef you are going to draw a bazillion of cards!!, sounds interesting, isn't it?. Badly there are not so many good blue elementals to make it happen imho.

Anyways, I encourage you to build this deck, at least for me it's one of the best (if not the best), for results, for enjoyness, for synergy, for tastes Wink

I'm in doubt here. If i have one primalcrux in the graveyard and one into the battelfield, can I target the one in the graveyard with vesperlark or Thunderkin Awakener and return it to the battlefield? Because it's */* instead of 0/0 I'm not sure I can do it because in graveyard the * is checked as the real amount.

I mean, if I have one primalcrux in the battlefield, the one I have in the graveyard can be reanimated with lark or awakener? Is it a 6/6 or a 0/0.

If I can reanimate it, the primalcrux option would be way superior to Cytospawn Shambler. if not, then I think I would go with the shambler instead.

Please can anybody solve my doubts Wink

I like the deck you posted (link) but was not sure about blood artist and asylum visitor. Have you tested it without changes?

    My thoughts:

I realized about the synergy of Indulgent aristocrat and cordial Vampire which can be gross, but to work properly need a good amount of vamps in the table.

Also the deck lacks of removal and that sometimes can be an issue (and also removal will benefit to cordial vampire. I was even thinking if using force of dispair as a gross way to deal with aggro decks and win if the overextend a little (this + cordial vampire is nuts!!)

Beside of that I always thought that deathtouch & lifelink vampires are the best ones (moreover if you can recur them) so I'm thinking on using gifted aetherborn and his new friend Vampire of the Dire Moon so you have removal on legs or "unblockable guys", and even better because they are going to grow a lot with cordial and the so.

Finally there is a vamp that I always loved and that works great in madness versions Bloodhall Priest and is a finisher on legs usually when you are hellbent.

Also new Sorin seems awesome on paper. Have to test it, but because hype is probably that it will have more price than it deserves. Hope they print a promo version with a more bautiful art Wink

I would like to test all this things together but not sure how to do it. Perhaps the following list to begin with:

    ¿What do you think?

    Hello and good work Wink

I tested your list at the beginning but I'm not very sold on it (because I tested it against some pet decks I have and it doesn't win consistently), but since the printing of the new vraska I thought that she would be bonkers in this deck and well She has been already suggested Wink

Also I think there are lot of good creatures with deathtouch for your GB list like Gifted aetherborn and vampire nighthawk that will also help you to close the game while survive a lot.

Finally I was thinking if with the new vraska a mono black list would be possible (perhaps including red splash for whip), but I've always wanted to build a succesfuld assassins deck (that by the way usually have deathtouch) and that can exploit tribal assassins shenanigans (Scarblade Elite I'm looking at you Wink ). If I build the list and you are interested I can also share.
