Oct 19, 2015Stefouch posted a message on The Magic Street Journal: Wizards Always Hurts The Ones They LoveWhat if Wizards has another concept of the price barrier ?Posted in: Articles
For example, they keep to reprint Tarmo in mythic rarity. Clearly that doesn't help to decrease the price barrier.
Could it be possible that Wizards doesn't try to fix that price problem because if all cards were cheap, everyone would have the same decks? The format would be less diverse. -

I enjoyed reading your big article. It is exactly what I feel today about Magic and you put a name on it : Magic is now more a battlefield for speculators, investors, and fraudsters, than players. I am on the verge to stop playing after 17 long years because of this new fact. Fortunately, EDH still have its grip on me. But I quitted the competition field. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
1) LED, and its brother Lotus Bloom, are broken cards with Salvaging Station. It just needs an empty hand that is quite easily to achieve in the engine version of the deck.
2) LED can create an insane start with an early Sharuum reanimating into a big beater or Tawnos Coffin, but usually the card disadvantage is painful so soon in the game, more in multiplayer, be sure opponents have answers at this stage of the game. I'll try to avoid this kind of play.
3) LED acceleration is +3, like Grim Monolith or Mana Vault, but with colors
4) LED discard can be a great advantage when your hand is almost empty. Throw that big artos, crack LED and cast Sharuum.
5) LED discard can save your butt with an emergency the bridge that stops attacks for creatures with power above the number of cards in your hand (forgot the name)
It is basically WUB: Draw 3 cards, lose 3 life.
I think we have here a very good card draw for Sharuum. Better than Compulsive Research
It does nothing to our army of Thopters.
It should not be considered as a wrath affect, but more a fragile O-Ring (beaters with >5 pow are not common on the battlefield)
OR a combo enabler cheap artifact.
Storyline talking, that artifact make sense: a Hedron emprisonning big Eldrazi, and releasing them if it's destroyed.
But it can't be reanimated with Sharuum, Salvaging Station or Tawnos's Coffin, due to the fact it's a native 0/0. It feels sad
What are the other interactions that worth playing the Hangarback Walker ?
Did you try the bend test ?
"Daretti, Scrap Fatman - Fallouts Shenanigans"
I think mtgtop8 list are 1 vs 1 list.
I already tried mass-land-destruction-Daretti in multiplayer. It is very powerful, but after the first game expect to be the Archenemy for each other.
Some examples: Obliterate will let Daretti on the board, then reanimate Myr Battlesphere and Wurmcoil Engine. I killed an entire table of 7 peoples like this. But I lose friends
Pyromancer's Goggles seems expensive (mana cost) at first, but I see it more like a recursive Boseiju.
It seems really cute indeed
Happy Birthday! This is a very beautiful pimped deck.
That Ensnaring Bridge!
That Demonic Tutor!
That Grim Monolith!
I am also pimping mine but I am missing all the foil lands. I wanted to buy a foil Grim Monolith this year, but its price just jumped from 90EUR to 200EUR on the european market.
I also have the foil "JSS" City of Brass, it is so beautiful with this art.
I have the "Judge Gift" Crucible of Worlds "Old design". I chose this one because I wanted to stay "brown" and nostalgic to the ancient design as much as possible.
I had played it long time ago. At that time I played also Myr Turbine to fuel it.
The Skullclamp is a great source of card advantage, it's sweet, but it need gas. Unfortunately, that gas can be found only with Myr Battlesphere or thopters from Thopter Foundry / Sword combo. That's only 1.5 (half for the 2-cards combo) cards to abuse it.
In Sharuum Engine, each card has one or more role itself, and is better with the rest of the deck. E.g.: the cogs & Salvaging Station. /or/ the Tawnos's Coffin & Sharuum. This is important to have a well-oiled deck.
Here, Skullclamp does nothing by itself.
It is the same with the Sword of the Meek, useless alone, but the combo with Thopter Foundry is just insane.
I would love to find a way to use skullclamp at it's full potential. Like in black EDH with Bloodghast or the returning skellie.
I just wonder if other people tested it and what they think about it.
I will definitely test Codex Shredder.
But about Scroll Rack, I found that with Sharuum the hand is quickly emptying. I cannot abuse Scroll Rack as much as in some control strategy that tends to draw more. It is better in my Zedruu deck with Land Tax
I have a Vorel EDH who will love this little guy. But I wish we had some interaction to abuse him with Sharuum.
Unfortunately it triggers only once per attack
