People should really stop looking at this from a flavour or money standpoint. Did it even occur to anyone to look at this from standpoint of, i dont know, actually PLAYING MAGIC??? The fact is, birds enables a lot of cool decks and as far as i know, has never had an adverse effect on any format. Add to that the fact that is a very popular card, and that pretty much outways the whole "but it's not in the colour pie!" argument.

And about the colour pie thing, the reason it's like that is because it's been around since before the colour pie and they waited way too long to try and remove it for "flavour". It's iconic, it's good for standard, and it's popular, so too bad.

I just have a few comments about the judging of my card by Horseshoe_Hermit, which I found to be a bit unfair.

    First:
    The Wombat: Don't enable Shadow.
    Bonus:
    CMC 4 or more - 1 mark
Targets a creature or player - 1 mark
Mana symbols used - 1 mark
Art Render - 1 mark for existing
    Total: 4/5
From that, I conclude that either I lost a point because you don't like shadow, or I lost a point because, as you later explained, you don't understand the art.

Balance: First ability works if you flood your board with Shadow creatures, and that happens only if you go Shadow aggro. This card enables that deck. T2 is safe, and the older formats... I think this is on par with their power level.
Second ability mode, you turn sucky guys Shadow so they're sacced for one or more cards on your upkeep, in a normal deck. It's a roundabout way to make a Blue-Black enchantment-like effect, but it works.
    Total: 6/10
So... I guess from your first comment you failed to notice that the first ability also works if you use the second ability. Also, I'm not sure if I got 6/10 for my card being too weak (which it isn't) or being too strong (which it isn').

F/C/Q: This is one of the cards where the player uses suspension of his disbelief that it makes no sense. While I can't say that the two abilities don't make sense to appear on one trinket, the real uses of the card are completely independent. "Darksilver Idol" somewhat feels like Shadow, and the flavour text is explanatory, but the art... I don't get it.
The idea is certainly novel. It was mechanical creativity, but creativity nonetheless.
3 marks for flavor, 2.8 for creativity.
Templating is fine. "with shadow" and "you control" should have been reversed, but it's intelligible.
    Total: 5.8/10
Not sure what you were talking about here, as there are far more than two uses for this card, and as for the art thing, I think it should be obvious that the small, animal-shaped object is the idol, and the guy holding it is getting
the second ability used on him.

    So the final mark: 15.8/25
You can view the card below. I just don't the think the two fit.

Does the following card work from a rules perspective. I'm worried about the effect that needs to know the number of counters on the card after the card has left play.

When Pillar of Heavens comes into play, remove target creature from the game.
At the beginning of your upkeep, put a height counter on Pillar of Heavens.
When Pillar of Heavens leaves play, return the removed creature to play, then deal damage to it equal to the number of height counters on Pillar of Heavens.

Match 14 - The Wombat vs. Vishara
    Judge - Horseshoe_Hermit

    Darksilver Idol4
    Artfact (R)
At the beginning of your upkeep, draw a card
for each creature with shadow you control,
then sacrifice a creature with shadow.
    2UB: Target creature gains
shadow. (This effect doesn't end at end of
    turn)

Well Lesurgo, i guess what i meant to say was how do I get the card picture out of magic set editor, but since you didnt discuss that part at all i figured it must be pretty easy. So i looked around and "ZAP BAM POW"... found the export button. Thanks anyway.
