Don't think it's dying at all. With social media there are going to be less people. I think social media outlets like Twitter are a horrible way to communicate but some people like them over forums.
Good advice from the posters here. For me it all depends on what I want to play. If there is a really expensive card that I have and might play I usually sell or trade it while it's Standard legal. But if I know I'm going to play it I'll keep it. But it all depends on what you play and if you want to potentially re-buy or trade for something again later.
Don't let the Ancestral Visions thing bother you, it happens to all of us.
I agree with you that playing cards isn't a sport. But it's widely considered a sport along with other activities I don't think qualify like chess, spelling competitions and golf.
Funny thing about golf is that, some years back, a group of scientists did an experiment that proved golf performance did indeed improve with athleticism. Of course, e-sports are a thing, so people have long since stopped pretending there is a link between the word and athletics.
Ive read the first paragraph and i'm going to break your bubble right away...
First, playing cards is not a sport
People can't even agree that playing chess or poker is a sport, and I wouldnt, so you're a long way home...
Second of all, you need audience for that and there aren't...MTG is a closed circle compare to whats out there..... you cant even get starcraft competition on tv like in asian countries and your thinking of an mtg broadcast?!?!?!
Eitherway, maybe you'll get supporter here and there and good luck with your project but i'm not gonna attend/watch this and i've known mtg since their beginning. So here were my thoughs on the matter

SOI is turning out to be a fun set. Before that I enjoyed Khans of Tarkir quite a bit. But it all depends on what you consider a fun set as mentioned above.
I agree with the above comments about Snapcaster Mage, it would be a good addition but isn't exactly cheap. A Delver of Secrets would be nice, too. Looks like a fun deck to try, let us know how it works out!
Disappointed to hear about this change. This last year was a fun Pro Tour to watch and really the first time I've ever had the desire to watch it streaming or on YouTube.
I think, you need some more reliable ways to regulate your own life total, and not just down, but up as well. If you're fine with non-Modern legal cards, Blood Celebrant can do the downward adjustment very well (pay B and 1 life to activate its ability and add B to your mana pool, repeat until you reach 1 life). Also a good way to fix your mana for that 2WWW cost of NDE. With such a fine way to lose as much life as you want, you can add ways to gain back life without worrying about not getting back down to 1. I'm talking Kitchen Finks, Aven Riftwatcher, etc. Unspeakable Symbol is another way to use/lose your life in a meaningful way.
You may want to shift your mana base more towards black and lose many of those offcolor cards (even though phyrexian mana makes them playable). One card to go down to 1 all the way is better than going down in little chunks over a long time, in my opinion.
Some awesome alternatives there. Heck I may even try something like this. Thanks
Expected we would go back to a place like Ravnica after Innistrad. I remember reading (maybe Rosewater) that after Innistrad we're going back to another place that is requested by players.
Throw Torpor Orb in that deck

I was being facetious
