I have a question that probably has no real answer:
When do you take a Mulligan and how "hard" do you mulligan?
Would you keep a hand with no Tron Piece, but with Stirrings, Grove etc. to tutor them up?
Would you keep a hand with no colored Mana, but with 2 Tron Pieces and no real threats?
Also: Would you take a mulligan to, let's say 5 or 4, just to get the ideal hand? I need some advise here. I am very insecure about taking mulligans with tron.
Hm, i get your point. But then there is the question for me: Why not play Ulamog who is playable in most matchups and put Emrakul in the sideboard. Board him in for Ulamog when you're up against control. That way you do not have a card clogging your hand.
I am not experienced yet, but it is just something that popped up in my noob head.
I am considering to cut the Emrakul and Prophetic Prism. I would put Emrakul into the Sideboard. Now the question is: What do i put into the MD in exchange for Emrakul. I feel like Nature's Claim would be nice to have. Delver decks etc. are not that present in my local meta so i don't feel like i need One or 2 Relics MD. Then i still have another open slot. I was also considering Spellskite but i also don't expect much Twin or Burn so it might be a wasted slot.
You need to live as long as possible. Thus you don't want to take damage from the "shock" of the shockland. On the other hand you don't really care about your opponents lifetotal. When Emrakul hits the board or Karn Ultimate goes off all that does not really matter anymore. It is basically like a Taiga for Tron.
I found Karplusan Forest to be a nice budget alternative to the Grove of the Burnwillows. When you have a chromatic you don't really need to take the damage anymore. Until then i managed to survive when playtesting vs. my friends
I love the fact that even though we're talking about 1-2 slots in a deck, there's SO much impact from them, given how much digging/tutoring the deck has! Of all the modern decks I've piloted RG Tron has been my favourite by a long mile. Smile
I totally agree on that. imo GR Tron does not have many flex spots, so the few you have are more important.
Have you considered Firespout or Combust as Flexspots? I think Firespout is a great card, i run 2 in my SB because, well, 3 damage is better than 2 i guess.
Combust is a great sideboard card. I prefer it over Rending Volley. Just a personal thing i guess. Other than that you could think about Prophetic Prism for Mana Conversion. Also pays for itself since it lets you draw a card.
However i am not that familiar with GR Tron in different Matchups yet. So this is just "intuition"
I worked my deck over a bit and it is running fairly well now.
Still not content with Slaughter Games though. Yes, it can not be countered and it can screw Splintertwin decks up. But then again: Splintertwin costs 4 Mana, just like Slaughter Games. I am not sure if some other "removal" like an Inquisition or Thoughtseize would be better since you can splash it earlier with chromatics and llanowar wastes.
Also: What are your opinions about Defense Grid as sideboard card? I found it to be pretty useful.
So, i built my "new" deck (See one of my previous posts for reference) and tested it against different archetypes like URG Delver, Splintertwin, Infect etc.
I usually got Thoughtseized/Inquisitioned on turn 1 or 2 and lost my sylvan scrying/stirrings and sometimes even karn. Feels like GR Tron is insanely topdeck dependend. With this feeling i have the question: When do you mulligan, and what would be the perfect hand?
Let's say you have 2 tron pieces, 1 chromatic star, 1 stirrings, 2 Karn, 1 sylvan scrying. This would look like a perfect hand to me when you are on the play. When on the draw: Turn 1 Thoughtseize, take the star and you are on Topdeck mode again while the opponent builds up his board.
I hope you get what i mean. I start to dislike that GR Tron is so... you could say unreactive. You do not have answers, always sit on the receiving end and depend on topdeck. That is the way i feel so far.
If one of you guys could play some matches against me (on cockatrice) please PM me. I really need some advise here.
So i mixed it up a bit, took out the Explore and other Eldrazi.
I have one more question though: When i talked about GR Tron with a friend he just wondered "What the hell do you need the chromatic star/sphere for?".
My first guess was that we need it to get the green mana for ancient stirrings etc. going. Am I right about this, or is there some other "secret" behind how to play and when to crack the chromatics?
I also had doubts about the additional Eldrazi. But then again: I have them and they just feel too cool to not play them. I would rather cut an explore for a spellskite.
About the Slaughtergames: I get your point. I do have an Overgrown Tomb at home. I would consider taking the single Forest out and putting the Tomb in then.
What about colorhate? Do we actually need it? I have played a Tron-ish deck in my local meta before and found that mostly UW and UR decks caused trouble for me.
Would love to hear some opinions. I am not that familiar with the current meta since the people in my area play out of "the ordinary".
Also i have a question regarding Slaughter Games. It is, as far as i read, truly a great card vs decks that rely on a single card or 2 card combos. But how do you make sure, that it is not a dead card in hand? You will need a chromatic star/chromatic sphere to splash the B. Having 2 Slaughter Games in hand but nothing to splash the B with is a great fear of mine.
This deck feels a lot more stable when playing it (I have been testing it online with some friends)
But i still feel like it is really missing something to play early. Yes, i can have a Wurmcoil Engine or Karn Liberated out on turn 3, but that does not happen all the time.
Please suggest something. I have searched the internet and did not find anything useful that would fit.

Boil and Choke are just plain Island hate. What about stuff like Sanctimony or Flashfires?
I feel like all of them could be a decent sideboard. Maybe somebody has experience with them?
I used this thread for reference, however i am not sure if this would fit the current meta (Sorry, but reading through 165 pages would be nuts...)
1 Emrakul, the aeons torn
1 Kozilek, butcher of truth

I have no clue at all why google didn't propose this when i searched for "rg tron modern". I guess this thread can be deleted.
I'm new here so i hope all the formating etc. will work out.
Anyway:
I have a Green Tron Deck. The thing is, i am not content with it at all.
Here is my current decklist:
4 Birds of Paradise
4 Sylvan Caryatid
1 Emrakul, the aeons torn
1 Kozilek, butcher of truth
1 Ulamog, the infinite gyre
1 Wurmcoil Engine
3 Primeval Titan
Lands:
4 Urza's Mine
4 Urza's Tower
4 Urza's Powerplant
1 Eye of Ugin
4 Wooded Foothills
2 Stomping Ground
1 Breeding Pool
3 Forest
3 Expedition Map
3 Quicksilver Amulet
Sorceries:
3 All is dust

Planeswalker:
2 Ugin, the spirit dragon
1 Temple Garden
3 Path to exile
2 Virulent Plague
2 Naturalize
2 Fracturing Gust
3 Ultimate Price
2 Asceticism
I am well aware that this is not really competitive. It was my first shot at a tournament deck.
After checking out some other Tron decks i came to this version:

1 Kozilek, Butcher of truth
2 Primeval Titan
1 Ulamog, the infinite gyre
3 Wurmcoil Engine

2 Pyroclasm
This deck feels a lot more stable when playing it (I have been testing it online with some friends)
But i still feel like it is really missing something to play early. Yes, i can have a Wurmcoil Engine or Karn Liberated out on turn 3, but that does not happen all the time.
