Not sure why I cut Necropotence, should probably work it in. I decided against the 4cc card draw since it would want to be cast on the same turn as the general. Sign in Blood should also definitely be included, but I made this particular list before M10 so I just hadn't updated it yet. Wonder what I should take out for it...
Yeah I definitely wanted to go very aggro. It's not normally my style so I thought it would be fun with such an aggressive general in a color combination I love. Even without some of the typical control elements the deck tends to do very well in 1v1 since it had just enough late game to have a chance if the rush tactic fails.
One thing I didn't mention is that I'm kind of in love with Gaddock Teeg. I have even thought about dismantling this deck to make one with him as a general, but what I've done is limit the cards in the deck that don't work with him out to only the two that allow me to win on the spot with Rafiq.
I decided I wanted to post my EDH decks as I am a huge fan of this format and wouldn't mind feedback on card choices and such. This deck is built purely for 1-on-1, and while that is not the most common form of EDH I find myself playing it fairly often and I've even heard about 1-on-1 EDH tournaments at one of my local shops.
The idea here is to go for a turn 4 or 5 win with Xiahou Dun and Hatred dealing 21 general damage. There is some disruption in the form of selective and random discard and land destruction. There are at least 5 ways to tutor up Hatred before casting Xiahou, so this seems like a pretty decent plan. Plan B the deck turns into a sort of black stax deck and grinds out a victory through a war of disruption and attrition.
I have not actually built this deck, but my favorite part of the format is deck design. I have several other decks designed but I posted this one because I actually plan to build it if or when I get my hands on a Grim Tutor and an Imperial Seal.
I decided I wanted to post my EDH decks as I am a huge fan of this format and wouldn't mind feedback on card choices and such. This is my third deck and it's designed for 1-on-1. I know EDH is more of a multiplayer format but I already had two decks geared for multiplayer and found myself playing 1-on-1 games fairly often. I had a Phelddagrif deck that used Protean Hulk to combo off, but the Hulk got banned about the same time Rafiq came out so I decided I could canibalize that deck for a good 1-on-1 deck. Plan A is to get a good equipment or Might of Oaks or Finest Hour and do 21 general damage with Rafiq. Rafiq has a tendancy to die however, so Plan B is to play utility creatures, guys that are good on their own and better with Rafiq out. That's why I chose creatures with good abilities over big cheap big dumb dudes. Here's the deck:
I decided I wanted to post my EDH decks as I am a huge fan of this format and wouldn't mind feedback on card choices and such. My second deck is Sygg, River Cutthroat. It's designed for large (5+) multiplayer games and many of the cards are chosen because they have a much stronger effect the more players there are. The deck doesn't have a lot of strong defenses, I figure in a large game my small amount of life taxing from artifacts and enchantments will be ignored at least for the most part. It has worked well for me so far. There are a couple small combos, and no cards specifically dedicated to draw as the general should act as the draw engine. Here's the deck:
Thanks for the formatting help and the suggestions. The reason I don't use Land Tax is that there's just not that much basic land in the deck. I would hate to draw this late game after I've searched all my basics out with Thawing Glaciers already. Also, I used to have both Propaganda and Ghostly Prison, they fit the theme of the deck very well, but swarms of lots of little guys aren't really my worry. Typically each opponent will have like one or two really good guys and taxing their attacks doesn't do that much if they all decide they want to kill me, I find in most cases I'm much better off just using a wrath effect for any turn after 4 or 5.
I decided I wanted to post my EDH decks as I am a huge fan of this format and wouldn't mind feedback on card choices and such. My first and favorite is Grand Arbiter. The deck is basically for mid-size multiplayer games. Decent card advantage cards, a general that slows the game down, and plenty of board sweepers tend to take the game long and help me find one of a couple combos. The general tends to draw some ire so there is a good amount of protection and a slight sub-theme of vigilance creatures so that I can peck at people's life totals without leaving myself defenseless. Here's the deck:
I'm just starting out altering and I've heard quite a bit about how easy Acetone makes erasing the ink on the card. What I have been doing is using regular scotch tape and an eraser, tried that with acetone and the tape turned into a big melty mess.
I also saw somewhere electrical tape recommended as a better alternative, but before I run up to the store, I was wondering if anyone knows if electrical tape will melt the same as scotch tape if I apply acetone?
FWIW I thought I'd throw in my $.02 regarding Terror vs. Path to Exile. I think Path is perfect for this deck. I have been frustrated with Terror on many occasions, even tempted to replace a couple with Unmake, but Unmake is just too costly for a removal spell for this deck. Only lots more testing will tell for sure, but I don't think the drawback of PtE will be very relevant compared to it's advantages. Also, in a matchup where the removal isn't all that great you can use your third turn (if you don't have or want to play Spectral Procession, obv.) casting Sculler and PTE with the ability on the stack to nab a card for good and accel yourself into something bigger next turn. Probably not going to happen enough to be a deciding factor, but I think it's neat
What I'm pondering is this: What do you guys think of Scepter of Fugue for the sideboard? It would mainly be for 5CC but I could definitely see it being useful in other matchups. Against 5CC it comes down under most countermagic, and it's hard for them to deal with, from what I've seen most lists aren't playing Bant Charm anymore or any other artifact hate. So the question is, is it worth the mana investment, and does it hurt them enough? The way I see it working is get it down early, play a threat the next turn, then start working on their hand till they deal with your threat. Gives you something relevant to do while not overextending, and you obviously don't HAVE to use it every turn if you have something better to do. Let's you rip apart their hand even more with any spare mana.
I guess I'd like to hear from anyone who has more experience actually playing with 5CC, is losing a card a turn actually all that painful, or would all the draw in the deck basically make up for it?
In the past I have gone on the Wizards site to check out the Magic articles each day, but now my work has blocked the whole Wizards site as of today (they're internet usage policy is no "game" sites).
Does anyone know a way around this? Is there anywhere else the articles are posted? Yes I know "Maybe you shoud just be working", but there are times every day where I'm just waiting for something or someone to finish something before I can do anything, and it's nice to have the articles for reading in the meantime.
Do you think Primal Command is worth it, I haven't tested it much against the Elemental deck mainly because I'm playing Gaddock Teeg, do you think it would be pretty effective? I play 4 Gaddock Teeg main, would you suggest taking any (or all?) out to play the Primal Commands?

You may sacrifice 3 artifacts (creatures?) rather than pay the cost for Junk Titan.

Thanks though
