Oh, and just to be sure, someone please answer this: Lifeloss and damage are two separate things. So if unlife is on the board AND we already have a negative life total, we should be able to play spoils or nauseam as these cards are not sources of damage? We should simply lose more life and not get any infect counters?

Been reading everyone's posts... anyway spoils of the vault came in the mail the other day and I've been play testing by myself; they're very good. Especially good that we can also use them to dig for a pact of negation in response to a counter spell. In this regard i think spoils also gives us another layer of combo protection. I think spoils can also make us better against infect as the lifeloss isnt as much of a problem.

The fetchland mana base probably goes better with a teachings/peer/anticipate version of the deck and spoils is probably best with the shuffle-less version.

Okay so i'm not alone with my struggles. And to be fair to people who use mystic teachings, there are some games where I really wish I had it in the deck. I still don't like it overall though. And I guess I could try holy day. Anyway, I need people to post sideboard listings (again) and what match-ups they're used for.

I'm gonna start playesting a "spoils of the vault" deck but with a classic mana base of 5 fetches, 3 shocks, 3 basics, ect and see how that works. Don't like how the spoils version runs the gemstone mines but then again, that version doesn't run as many anticipates or peer through depths. So less digging but better top decking is what you could say.

My trouble is with burn and infect; what do we sideboard to beat these decks? Can favor of the mighty be used to stop infect? Don't like spellskite as it just eats destructive revelry, nature's claims, twisted image, and the like.

I don't get how some of you guys are doing so well with the deck, the deck seems to be very match-up dependent; I can't break .500. I've only played 12 matches with it however, excluding casual games.

My last two outings at local fnm have been 2-2 (frustrated as i started off 2-0 each night). And some of the losses have been due to simply not finding ad-nauseam. I am really considering adding in a couple spoils of the vault. I know spoils has some problems with it, but i'd rather gamble it than just brick. I perosnally find mystic teachings too slow.

If my store allowed proxies i'd immediately sell my lion's eye diamonds, even if it was for significantly less than their worth. I think allowing proxies is dangerous territory. Would not at all be surprised if that's what "killed" off vintage. My attachment to my legacy decks only goes so far. They have no value for casual play as they are too strong.
My bigger problem is that the format feels too complicated/fast. Which is usually cited as the format's strength but I think it goes both ways.

I am unborn, so how can I die?
How can that which is born be born? How can that which is unborn be born either? Matter cannot be created or destroyed, surely you must have existed somewhere before you were born. blah blah blah. anyway, i like nargarjuna's view on the matter.
