Deck feels bad. Either I can't find a creature to clock the opponent, or i get creatures but don't have enough discard to protect them. Manabase is complicated too. I can kill storm pretty easily but that's about it.
When you think about it, it is surprising more decks aren't mainboarding relic of progenitus as a 4-of. I know tron and skred red play a lot of copies. But that seems to be about it. Scavenging ooze should be played more but maybe its too slow on the draw.
I hate terminus as it can gobble up thrun the last troll, carnage tyrant and the like. are there any ways to cheat easy wins against control anymore? blood moon seems to be the only thing that works.
@colt47 I actually don't want them making stronger cards because this sometimes power creeps the game, makes games faster, and makes the game more expensive. fatal push is pretty strong too.
Is it a good idea to buy an ultimate masters box without the box topper? Or would I be missing out on too much value? I'm seeing 24 sealed packs for $220 on ebay from a large trusted seller. Claims to remove the box topper and nothing else will be moved/removed. Seems like a decent idea.
But I don't know, maybe these box toppers will be worth a good chunk and I can just see the seller sitting on a ton of these, making a killing off of selling them independently later. So maybe I should just get a complete sealed box
I somewhat said that out of jest. But yeah, usually the game store players are just focused on that nights tournament. If you get to know the players better you'll figure out who carries casual decks with them and whatnot.
At the college level I was able to find casuals with unsleeved decks, the decks placed inside ziploc bags with a rubber band around it. The decks would have a theme to them and curve out well, but lacked any big money cards. Games would always play out funny, good times.
Most of the budget casual players play at community colleges or just with friends at home. Trying to get a 60 card casual game going at a local game store is like pulling teeth.
Vraska could be strong in standard. The +1 can blow up your own lands right? It should ensure you never mana flood. And you can float the mana before you sac the land too.
@stylejoker00 It takes a while to get a collection going. Try focusing on cheaper stuff right now. Like um, they just reprinted scapeshift and crucible you could get those. And shocklands should get super cheap. That's how I do it, I try to focus on getting playsets of nonfoil reprinted stuff. But anyway, modern is very expensive right now and has been turning me off. I always tell people to go at their own pace.
Anyway, I don't think assassins trophy is a good investment. It should be under $10 for most of its standard life and when it rotates I see it being under $3.
Kitchen finks and spellskite have been creeping down in price. Not the worst pickups out there.

Knight of Autumn is okay, I don't see the first mode being used much. I guess it's better than reclamation sage.
Blood moon has been great out of the sideboard. It's been great against jund. I think it would be okay against tron too, I think our clock is fast enough to capitalize on it.
Would have liked some more edh or modern reprints placed in the set. Im guessing Ral Zarek does the heavy lifting. In hindsight, core19 looks pretty good with crucible and scapeshift
I'm guessing preordain, stoneforge, and green sun zenith would be fine power level wise but would eliminate some of the diversity in deckbuilding. Similar to how bloodbraid elf can be run in almost in any red/green deck (titanshift, ponza, jund, ect).
