urza decks have risen in strength and i can understand a mox opal ban. simian spirit guide is alright i guess. stirings, urza, karn the great creator, and 3 mana teferi are also problematic. i personally dont want to see preordain but i guess it wouldnt be overpowered.
Dig through time control. Field of ruin already slots into control and fabled passage fills the graveyard too. Opt for cheap filtering. Thoughtseize goes into sideboard. Or maybe drop the black and go white for teferi. Settle the wreckage and fumigate are good too.
I think having some strategies like hexproof and tron are good for the game as they're a counter to cheap removal. Why bother investing mana to build your board with fair creatures when stuff like lightning bolt and disfigure can remove it for so cheap? In general, I think this is why the games designers have started adding more enter the battlefield effects to creatures.
Ghostly flicker should go too. Tron is heavily played because it happens to be the best engine for ghostly flicker. Didn't peregrine drake decks play ghostly flicker too?
It's possible they announced pioneer to move more product/singles and overlooked attendance in the midwest. West coast/East coast should be fine but I think there are some dead spots in the US.
Isn't Fabled Passage gonna see heavy play? And that's sorta a fetchland. I was hoping the format wouldn't have heavy shuffling effects. Now it feels like a way to rotate out khans fetchlands or something, i don't know.
Do we even have enough players for this format? It's hard enough to fire modern sometimes.
Did a 3-1 at a local shop. Played a list similiar to the Leo Lahonen from Grand Prix Ghent. The 3 Kologhan's command were great and felt like the best card. I still have Assassin's trophy and Tarfire in the mainboard and I always liked drawing those too.
Once Upon a Time looks cool might have to try that.
Oh and one more thing. If you've ever played jund/abzan midrange it's really tempting to sit back and play a grindy game but this deck doesn't really do that. A lot of bad habits to break I can't explain it.
Had trouble getting delerium without instants sometimes. Manamorphose probably fixes that.
Really wanna go to 3 k-command plus a single liliana of the veil. Wondering if its too slow. K-comm seems really good especially with street wraith usually in the yard.
Does mishras bauble and street wraith ever get boarded out? Or are they too important for turning on delerium?
I once won an auction for a chinese box of journey into nyx for under $50. Nobody has much interest in trading for chinese cards though. But if you want to open some cheap boosters, it's a great way to do so. Especially with sets like born of the gods, dragons maze, ect.
Relationships are hard and people are mediocre at best. If your sense of humor and personality are a match, I recommend trying to keep the relationship going.
Women aren't very interested in much of anything that's competitive. I personally don't try to get girlfriends to play magic. I just do, other things. Hiking, movies, whatever.
Digging through some old sideboarding notes and it says to board out o-stone and relics and dismembers against u/w control but I have mixed feelings on this. Dismember feels like an easy cut but o-stone deals with their walkers. I've seen some websites advise boarding out the ulamogs and world breakers but that never worked out for me personally. Wurmcoil looks bad but I was thinking leave it in so the deck is so top heavy that something eventually sticks around. It's not like they're boarding in fulminator anyways. Then there's the issue of stony silence being boarded in against us and where nature's claim fits in. I've usually liked nature's claim because it also hits detention sphere and search for azcanta but I don't know if they're still playing those.
I'm pretty good with boarding for other matchups but something about control is tricky. Partly because their decklist changes so much.
Ok thanks. I can see u/w control being not being the top deck, but lots of odd midrange decks are floating around that like running field of ruin that I thought it was worth mentioning.
The other thing I'm thinking of is cutting mainboard relics in favor of dismembers. I'm assuming there's going to be a lot less graveyard decks. Plus I've always wondered why eldrazi tron played dismember while we played relic. I get that our deck likes the eggs package but theres still some overalp in the decks.
But yeah, everything still needs to settle into place
Oh and one more thing, is world breaker gone from the mainboard now?
