I own a website based on Axis & Allies (at: http://web.archive.org/web/20100329201909/http://www.fiber.net/users/drshades/gcrisis.htm). Wizards somehow found it, then e-mailed me, offering to send me a set of Portal free of charge. I of course couldn't say no to something free, so I e-mailed them back and accepted.

Obviously Wizards knew exactly what it was doing, 'cause I've been hooked on Magic ever since.

I guess what they really need to do is start enforcing it then.

Exactly. That's why drafts have been eliminated. It's an enforcement tool.

Based on the reports I've read here, I think a lot of stores are cheating their players out of prizes.

That's right. Which is precisely why Wizards has chosen to eliminate drafts as part of prerelease tournaments: To prevent stores from cheating their players out of prizes by using those prizes as draft fodder.

It might help to standardize the prize structure itself across the board.

That's just it. The prize structure HAS been standardized across the board. Hence the reason there are no more drafts allowed; such drafts tempted tournament organizers to cheat their players out of prizes that were rightfully theirs (the players').

    Are these minimums posted anywhere?

I just remembered: Yes, prize support is set in stone at two packs per player. (Not that every player gets two packs, of course; but that if, say, 16 people are in a pod, then 32 packs MUST be given out as prize support when the tournament ends.)

I don't know where it's posted on the Internet, but I'm reasonably sure that it's included in the tournament organizers' instructional material that Wizards sends out with their booster packs designated for the prerelease tournaments.

This has nothing to do with Magic, but are you the same Dr.Shades who runs the Mormon Discussion board? I used to lurk there right after I decoverted from Mormonism, but I never posted anything.

Yes! I'm one and the same. (Mormon Discussions board: http://www.mormondiscussions.com/phpBB3 ) We're still going strong; so please start posting!

That makes no sense. If they were worried about people not being given prizes they deserved, they should have mandated minimum prizes for prerelease events.

That's just it; it's my understanding that Wizards has mandated minimum prizes for prerelease events.

Methinks that perhaps one or more people at Wizards have seen the threads here about players getting shafted out of their prize support so that local tournament organizers could run a draft with those packs afterward--packs that rightfully belonged to the winners of the sealed event.

I'd say this is a good move by Wizards. Now people will be more motivated to come and participate in the main event, knowing that they will get their fair share of prize support for a change.

If it's not for sanctioned play, you could always print foil proxies of the checklist cards to go with your clear-sleeved foil werewolves Grin

How do you print a foil proxy of a checklist card (or any other card, for that matter)?

stsung: THANK YOU for the scans! I very much appreciate it.

Everyone else: Do the deck boxes hold only the original 20 cards, or is there room left over for the cards that you'll add from the booster packs?

    Thanks!

The lazy slang word "prolly" drives me insane.

If you've just gotten done typing up an entire post, would it kill you to type out the word "probably" correctly? It's only two extra keystrokes!

Please tell me about the two card boxes that come inside the pack.

Do they only hold 20 cards each, or are they a little larger to accommodate the cards you'll add later from the boosters?

I imagine that they have some sort of artwork on the outside. Are the boxes identical art-wise? Is the artwork any good?

I got a card from ebay today, and it was double sleeved with an outer sleeve that I've never seen before. . . Any idea what clear sleeve this might be? I think I prefer it over the KMC character guards since these are a much closer fit. After measuring, the clear sleeve turned out to be 92.5mm x 67.5mm. This is considerably smaller than the other sleeves I've seen that are meant to fit over normal sized sleeves, so I'd really like to track them down.

It's really such a close fit that you can barely even tell it's double sleeved. I doubt I'll ever be able to find out what brand these are since they just seem like oddly sized penny sleeves, but maybe somebody here knows.

I know. They're the "Card Barrier" brand "Perfect Size" sleeves, imported from Japan. They're only $4.49 for 100 sleeves.

Once I started using these, I never went back to normal sleeves. In fact, I use there instead of the regular sleeves, not in addition to them. With these sleeves, they easily fit into two-piece clear plastic baseball card holders. As a matter of fact, a fully-sleeved commander deck fits perfectly into one of the aforementioned 100-count card holders.

Now, on to the order link you're expecting:

What about running more than one color? Will you be able to run all five colors with no penalty?

There are supposed to be three new Zombie arts. Two of them have been posted here.

Does anyone have a scan of the third one? I'd like to add it to the Great Creature Token Project (linked below); after which it'll be complete and up-to-date.

This project has been updated to include all tokens from Innistrad (except for one black zombie we're still waiting on). This is the first time I've been able to update it before an upcoming set came out, so this is about as cutting-edge as it gets.

I've also gone through and fixed all the broken links from CardKingdom.com. If any other links are broken, like the black Spider, that's because it went to an attachment here that's been moved or deleted. There's not much I can do about those.
