502.CRSa Critical State is a characteristic-setting ability, written “Critical State — [text].” It alters the rules text of the object it’s on, based on a condition. The text can create any kind of ability. “Critical State — [text]” means “As long as each opponent has at least double your life total, [this object] has ‘[text].’”

502.CRSb Spells and permanents with critical state have the critical state text only as long as each opponent of their controller has a life total equal to or greater than double their controller's life total. Otherwise, the text after “Critical State —” is treated as though it did not appear on the spell or permanent.

502.CRSc An instant or sorcery with critical has its critical state text only while the spell is on the stack and each opponent of their controller has a life total equal to or greater than double their controller's life total. An artifact, creature, enchantment, or land with critical state has the critical state text only as long as the permanent is in play.

502.CRSd See also Desperation (on the WotC board) and Distress (502.DIS).

502.DISa Distress is a characteristic-setting ability, written “Distress— {text}.” It alters the rules text of the object it’s on, based on a condition. The text can create any kind of ability. “Distress — {text}” means “As long as you have seven or less life, {this} has '{text}.’”

502.DISb Spells and permanents with distress have the distress text only as long as their controller has seven or less life. Otherwise, the text after “Distress —” is treated as though it did not appear on the spell or permanent.

502.DISc An instant or sorcery with distress has the distress text only while the spell is on the stack and their controller has seven or less life. An artifact, creature, enchantment, or land with distress has the distress text only if the permanent is in play.

With WotC's new philosophy, these are ablitiy words and should be removed in my opinion.

"face down as a copy of itself" means that the characteristics of the face-down card are the same as the face up card's

Surprise — [cost] (You may play this creature card as a face down copy of itself for its mana cost. If you do, you may turn it face up for its surprise cost when it attacks. It's unblockable when it's turned face up.)

    Burrowing Wurm 4{OO}
    Sand Creature - Wurm
Surprise — Untap two attacking creatures and remove them from combat (You may play this creature card as a face down copy of itself for its mana cost. If you do, you may turn it face up for its surprise cost when it attacks. It's unblockable when it's turned face up.)
    {OOO}: Regenerate Burrowing Wurm
    3/4

{O} referrs to Sand mana which will appear in my set Desolation to designate creatures/races that are strong in the sand. As will the "Sand" supertype. They'll appear cohesively most of the time. It will be produced by a revamped Desert card, which will be a basic land.

    A card I just made:

    Death Wish xBB
    Instant (R)
Remove target creature with a converted mana cost of X from the game
Flashback - XBBBB: Return target creature in a graveyard with a converted mana cost of X to play under your control. Lose X Life. (You may play this spell in your graveyard for its Falseback cost. If you do, replace its text with its Falseback text, then remove it from the game.)

To actually see print the new version of flashback has to be separated with a space and what should be a long dash (that messed up the display in MSE).

    I'll start with this:
    U/W/B:

R/W/U: Helps uphold laws... Red would rather break them

G/U/B: Mutants... Green sees eye-to-eye with Black on regeneration and that's it

    R/W/G: Nature Mages

    B/G/W:

    W/B/R: Chaos... even though White's law-abiding

    R/G/U:

    U/B/R:

G/W/U: Law Makers... the three most level-headed colors

B/R/G: Necromancers... White leaves the dead alone

    please rethink the rest

I'll help you out with the set. However, you'll need MSE and Custom Templates (12th post down) to view the cards I make as I use the aforementioned templates. For them to work, extract the files into your MSE data folder

I'm hard at work on my set Dirsha which will have several reprints. That brings me to the poll.

    Whnat the poll means:

    Phyrexian Bloodstock 4BB
    Snow Creature - Zombie (S)
    Bloodthirst 1
When Phyrexian Bloodstock leaves play, destroy target white creature. It can't be regenerated.
    It reaks terror and chaos.

Fertilize N - [cost] (When this creature is dealt lethal damage, you may pay [cost]. If you do, put N 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens with forestwalk into play.)

Fertilize N - [action] (When this creature is dealt lethal damage, you may [action]. If you do, put N 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens with forestwalk into play.)
    502.F Fertilize

502.Fa Fertilize is a keyword that represents two triggered abilities that trigger when combat damage is dealt. The first, written "Fertilize N - [action]," means "When this creature is dealt lethal damage, you may [action]," and "If you do, put N 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens with forestwalk into play." The second, written "Fertilize N - [cost]," means "When this creature is dealt lethal damage, you may pay [cost]," and "If you do, put N 1/1 green Saproling creature token(s) with forestwalk into play."
502.Fb Multiple instances of "fertilize" on the same creature are redundant.
Herald N — [Creature type] (When this comes into play, you may reveal the top N cards of your library. If you do, add a [creature type] card revealed in this way to your hand. Then, put the rest of the cards revealed this way on the bottom of your lirbrary in any order.)

    • 420.5i - If two or more permanents have the supertype world, all except the one that has been a permanent with the world supertype in play for the shortest amount of time are put into their owners' graveyards. In the event of a tie for the shortest amount of time, all are put into their owners' graveyards. This is called the "world rule." [CompRules 2004/10/01]
    Real CompRules.
    Happy Worlding.

I know that... I c&ped from the CompRules PDF. It's customary for WotC to change rules (besides abilites) with each new set. Am I right?
