again my point is made for me. Wink i thought pirates 2 was twice as good as the first one and i'm really excited about part 3 hitting theaters this summer. although i do have to agree w/ mikeyg about one thing, orlando is a lucky lucky man. he's not that great of an actor yet he's made millions upon millions from lord of the rings and pirates of the carribean alone.

there's not an actor out there that we can all agree hasn't made at least one crappy movie in his lifetime.

well although i thought troy was absolutely amazing, brad pitt did do a voice in the animated sinbad.

but i guess this kinda proves that there is no actor that has accomplished this feat. as there will always be someone who disagrees w/ you by thinking a movie was bad while you think it's awesome. case in point: troy. and i thought the prestige w/ christian bale sucked pretty bad. so that takes him off the list.

I haven't been playing much MTG in the past few months as I've had a $900 guitar on layaway to pay for (a Fender Telecaster worth about $1200, for those interested). But now that I have only $100 left to pay for it, I can start getting back into the game.

Anyway - What are the more prominent versions of MGA right now?

there are a couple of posts a few pages back that serve as primers for all three archetypes of this deck. personally i prefer a slight mixture of the three. you have the evasion version which runs silhana ledgewalker and such, the haste version which runs giant solifuge, groundbreaker, etc. and the scryb and force version which obviously runs scryb ranger and spectral force.

just browse the last 10 or so pages of this thread. there's a primer in there somewhere. Grin

decent looking sui deck, top deck, but i have a few questions. wouldn't you rather have skittering skirge than foul spirit? i also think i'd run dauthi slayer over dauthi horror. and why so much discard? i know discard is good, but isn't 13 a little bit of overkill? hymn and duress alone seem to work fine for me in my build. i would think that those spots would be better filled by some sort of removal like sinkhole or something. and one last question... where's cursed scroll? imo, decks like this almost have to run scroll. in early game it clears a path and in late game it's a win condition.

i think my latest list looks something like this.

if i had sinkhole's i take out terror and run it instead, but i don't have them, so what can ya do?

i'm currently trying out a version of the build that's running dark confidant. except for i'm using birds for black mana (because it flies and doesn't ping me like elves of deep shadow), and i'm running pump spells like might of old krosa and brute force. i'll post a list after i actually get to test it and tweak what needs tweaking. probably this weekend. so far it goldfishes fairly well. but i'm still a bit skeptical about bob in the deck.

  • posted a message on your worst magic mistake
just this past week at a tourney i made a pretty critical mistake. eot my opponent casts mystical teachings for a draining whelk. does nothing on his turn and passes. i draw into a spectral force. excited to see such a fat creature in my hand i tapped 5 and announced my force. he smirked and said, "uhm... draining whelk?" d'oh!! i guess i was just so excited to see the creature that would lay such a beating upon my opponent that i didn't think about the fat flyer that would instead lay a beating on me.

and when i first started playing i bought a pack of stronghold and a pack of weatherlight. my rares were volrath's stronghold and lotus vale. i traded them for my first deck. a g/w stompy deck made out of pretty much all commons like trained armodon and aurochs. and later that week i pulled another good rare, don't remember what it was, and i traded it for a natural spring. i was like, "dude, this card gives you 8 life! that's almost half your life back."

@Havoqx: the only change i would suggest to your deck is to replace giant growth w/ might of old krosa. it's just better in this build since most of your guys have some sort of evasion.

    I certainly enjoyed that episode.
But they seem to be in a pickle since I never recall hearing that Lana knew Clark's secret. Then again, I don't read the comics. But still. It seems that too many people know. Time for a little Amnesia Dust ala Superman 2..

the only person that knows clark's secret that i don't agree w/ is lionel. i actually think that clark should've told lana during the 5th (?) season when they were seeing each other. but that's neither here nor there. the only good thing about lionel knowing clark's secret is he's a villain but not the villain. so he poses a threat by knowing, which gives the show a little drama to work w/.

i meant to post on this last week after i watched the episode, but it slipped my mind.

number 1, a lot of crazy things happened in the episode.

lex kills a guy, lana figures out clarks secret, lionel threatens lana w/ clarks life, lana being forced to go through w/ a wedding that she doesn't want to.

and number 2, i thought the way they played it out w/ giving the day and time and then showing what happens and kind of having it all tie together at the end was awesome.

all in all, i thought this was a great episode. a lot took place and it made me look forward to seeing the next few weeks' episodes even more.

i have to agree w/ molten shark on this one. angelfire can, at times, be problematic. but it's not an unbeatable, or even bad, for that matter, matchup. i mean, as i said in my report earlier, vigilance is bad. bad, bad, bad. lightning angel usually sucks to see on the other side of the table, but she's not horrible. you're guys can get fat enough to swing and kill her if they block. and if they don't block, who cares? you just swung in w/ a fat critter and did upwards of 6+ damage. i'd say this matchup is about 50/50. maybe 55/45 in our favor.

What was thought provoking about them? A twisted maniac psychiatrist puts people through agonizing situations so they learn to appreciate life? Stooping to the level of a psychotic, homocidal murderer himself is no way to go about helping people. It solves nothing and that can be appreciated by the fact his b**** of an apprentice fails miserably in Saw III (the movie I was so unfortunate to see), as well as Jeff.

they are thought provoking because this twisted maniacal psychiatrist thinks he's helping these people, by scaring them into the person he wants them to be. but he is, in fact, just a murdering psycopath. in his mind he feels that if they don't survive his tests then the world is better off w/o these people. when you say that you feel that his way of 'helping' these people is wrong, that's an obvious statement. of course what he's doing is wrong, but that's the point and what makes the movies so good. you see this crazy doctor doing what he does. but then again, i'm a big fan of violence in movies and that's what i thought was so great about them. the absolute gore of the films is what drew me to watch them.

and by the way, i think there 'bad' movies and then there are movies that you didn't particularly enjoy. there's a difference. like spice world was an all around bad movie. superman:returns may have been a pretty good movie, but, being the comic geek that i am, i didn't enjoy it at all.

Well, I have a rude awakening for Dralnu players, and it's (imo) the best sideboard against a dralnu/d-storm heavy meta. I was playing with a friend's MGA one day against my own Dralnu (I like to change things up), and I was getting destroyed. I then thought, "Dralnu plays no creatures early game, neither does D-storm. What fills the gap?" Sheltering Ancient. They have no creatures, so there is no drawback. Swing for around 13 on turn three? yes, please. You should be running GG maindeck neway.

exactly how does sheltering ancient stay in play if your opponent has no creatures? doesn't that mean that you can't pay the upkeep? and doesn't not paying the upkeep mean that you must sacrifice sheltering ancient?
