Any thoughts on sideboarding for Taxes variants? Been playing some rounds, but enough to say I know how to definitively. Any thoughts y'all?

Sorry that I haven't been posting recently y'all , life has been getting in the way for me real bad lately. I went to SCG ATL, and got some games in. I will post some results at some point when I get the chance. Just figured I'd let you know guys now I'm not dead and planning to post more in the very near future.

Well, I was thinking of getting into standard....
    Modern needed preordain.
Legacy now is a pile of stupid combo.

Usually come out around 10:40 EST. I think today is about Cantrips. Either ban stirrings or give blue it's rightful place and unban preordain. I don't think Jace needs an unban quite yet, maybe a little down the line. Why do we need Stoneforge Mystic? I personally don't see that one. BBE can come off when Jace does. I'm always going to want a Twin unban, but I know it's not going to happen.

What are everyone's current sideboards? Just out of curiosity.

I only recently upgraded to my first non-budget magic deck (after having played tokens and neutered merfolk for a while) and decided on Grixis Delver. After completing it, I fell in love with Grixis Death Shadow and decided to take the plunge. Alas, because I had already splurged so much I had to settle for a relatively budget sideboard. Could you please critique my deck choice?

Hello friend, glad to see you have joined the movement! Personally, I don't like the full 8 discard spells. Currently I play 4 'seize and 2 inquisition and love how it plays. Good solid list though for sure!

About Mana Leak, I will attempt it this weekend possibly, but I'm just loving my current list so much I'm not sure what to take out for them.

On EE, that seems like a fantastic card choice. I may have to attempt to pick a few up myself.

*Ashiok - I'm unclear on why this is good against Esper Draw-Go. Is the plan to mill them out or ult them into a helpless boardstate? They barely play creatures as far as I can tell

*Graveyard Hate - Good call on Rakdos Charm - I'll have to try it. I do like that spellbomb only requires an upfront mana investment, and I really value mana efficiency in this deck, but it is snapcaster-able and doubles as artifact and kiki/copycast hate.

*Graveyard Hate - Would move Surgical Extraction here

*Extra Interaction - Would at least put Disdainful Stroke here in case titanshift rises in popularity. Does also hit some other spells that Rejection does not hit (Scapeshift, Primeval Titan, Ad Nauseum, Worship? actually the list is not that long..). Downside of course is that you'll miss on everything from Affinity/Lantern/KCI, for example

*Removal - May want to mention Flaying Tendrils, as I think that is better if you are splashing white and care about the exile effect (double red is likely to be very hard for Anger). Would also mention Big Game Hunter as it has positive synergies with Last Hope and KCommand

We will include these other options, good call on them. Ashiok is good against Esper on the mill plan, like you were thinking. Commonly they can't remove it, so if you can sneak it under counters, it seems invincible.

Okie dokie. I'll review again with DaveJacinto when I hopefully get a chance tonight. So, we think Grixis Shadow is a tempo deck that can shift and become a grindy midrange deck. I'll test Valakut and Abzan more extensively.

I have some other comments on the primer that I'll get to at some point, but I basically agree with this assessment of matchups:

I very much disagree with the Abzan & Valakut match-up percentages. Abzan feels like one of our worst match-up, and multiple Lingering Souls from their side are extremely annoying. Against Valakut I have yet to concede a single game.

Gifts Storm is almost like a bye, I don't really see how it can be considered unfavorable. Same about Grishoalbrand and every other similar combo deck. On the other side, we're a dog against Jeskai, as much as against any other UWx Control.

With one exception: While Abzan feels bad, it doesn't feel as bad to me as BloodyRabbit suggests, but still bad. But otherwise, +1.

OK guys, we will look into. Sorry to let y'all down

Hello all, just an update on the Primer. There was some confusion and some late responses, prohibiting us from getting it uploaded. It should be live today or tomorrow.

On mulligans (a naturally very important topic), what are y'all's standards for hands? Usually, I'm looking for 2 lands, maybe 3, either discard or a Cantrip on turn 1, and a threat. It takes an awesome hand that's great for the matchup for me to keep a hand with no threats. I feel as though I need to have one always. Any thoughts?

Also, Leak is something I had honestly not thought about before. Very interesting. Seems solid to me. Don't know what to cut for them though, as I honestly have a certain affinity for Lightning Bolt. Just love that card, always have. Currently on 2 bolts, recently cut the 3rd for the 1st terminate main. That's helped my Eldrazi matchup, which is nice.

So I'm in Georgia, and Star City is coming here for an Open 2 weeks from yesterday. I'm going to play in the Modern classic, and I'm super excited for it! Anyone else going to be there?

That new guy is intersting, but I don't think he shakes a stick at any of our current threats. Also, in regard to the discussion of merfolk, I'm on a pretty standard list, and I've been crushing them. The deck I'm having trouble with is bant eldrazi and eldrazi taxes.

Lol banning Urza's Tower would nuke 3+ entire decks, two of which have been around for years (there including the several flavors of Tron that runs Karn).

This thought process is dangerous. It's the thought most of us had about Twin too. With that ban, they have proven nothing is "safe".

Hey all, glad to see this thread picking up steam! I've been noticing a few things in my testing.
    -4 color is not great.
    -1 Terminate is needed.
-feels like I need a second crypt.
Also, just asking again, if you have any knowledge on matchups, please message me so I can place it into the Primer! Still looking at this weekend to have it live!
