Hey, people! I made 4-0 yesterday running GB Elves at my LGS. A quick report for those who are interested.

    Decklist

    34 Creatures
    4x Mystic
    4x Llanowar Elves
    4x Visionary
    4x Archdruid
    4x Heritage
    4x Shaman of the Pack
    4x Nettle
    4x Dwynen's Elite
    2x Ezuri
    1x Eternal Witness

    7 Other Spells
    3x Lead the Stampede
    4x CoCo

    18 Lands
    4x Horizon Canopy
    2x Forest
    1x Pendelhaven
    3x Blooming Marsh
    4x Gilt-Leaf Palace
    4x Cavern of Souls

    sb:
    3x Chords of Calling
    3x Heroic Intervention
    2x Chameleon Colossus
    2x Rec Sage
    1x Eidolon of Rhetoric
    2x Kitchen Finks
    1x Essence Warden
    1x Phyrexian Revoker

    Match 1 - Esper Control

Game 1 - He started with a Inquisition of Kozilek and tooked a Lead. My hand was llanowar and mystic, visionary, canopy, cavern, lead and coco.
I cast a dork and pass. On his turn he cast Collective Brutallity killing the dork and discarding the CoCo. In my turn was just dumping my hand and looking for some card advantage and attaking with dorks, dwynen's elite & token and with visionary. Eventually I drew CoCo and cast at his end of turn and he couldnt respond the Ezuri, cause he spend his Path on Dwynen's when I was beating for like 3 turns.

Game 2 - Pretty similar to g1. I didnt make any changes on the deck.

    2x0

Match 2 - UW Gifts Tron

Game 1 - I started with Nettle on T1. He makes a fetch and pass. On my t2 I attacked, played a dork and heritage, tap for 3 and played stampede that just revelead a Nettle. On his side, he puts a tron piece and cast a Azorius Signet and passed. I attacked again and put more elves and pass. On his turn he played a Wrath of God leaving me with nothing. The game ended on his next turn when he puts his third land in play and casted Gifts for Unburial Rites + Elesh Norn.

Sb - out: 4 Visionary and 1 Eternal Witness. In: 3 Heroic Intervention and 2 Rec Sage.

Game 2 - Started with Nettle and him making Hallowed Fountain tapped and passing. I attacked for 2 and cast dork + heritage, making GGG, casting Dywnen's and Archdruid. His turn was just a land drop and casting Azorius Signet and passed. I drew ezuri and gg.

Game 3 - He started with land drop and go. I make cavern + llanowar. His side was land drop + a 2 CMC artifcat similar to Azorius Signet that add U or W dealing 1 dmg. I put another cavern, tapped for 3 and cast Rec Sage targeting the artifact, and he cast Condescend for 0 just to use the scry. On his T3 he played a tron land (he has a hallowed fountain, urza's mine and tower) and cast Timely Reinforcement, go to 25 (he was at 19 because of the artifact that delas 1 dmg to him) and making 3 dudes. I drew Heritage and started flood the board because I had Heroic Intervention in hand. I pass and he cast Wrhat of God, I tap 3 Elfs and cast Heroic in response. In my turn I won with overrun. He was like: wtf, no one uses this card.

    2x1

Match 3 - RG LD Ponza

Game 1 - I started with dork and he played a stomping ground untapped + utopia sprawl. I make another dork and cast elite. On his turn he makes a land drop and cast Courser of Cruphix revealing a land - and I was ok because theres no Bonfire on top. I drew Heritage and start dropping things and cast a Shaman dealing 9, soo, his life total now was 9. At his turn he drew a land, revealing another land with Courser, played it from top, goes to 10 and the top card was a Bonfire. He casted Birds and another Courser and passed. I cast another Shaman and win.

Sb - same as UW Gifts Tron match

Game 2 - He started with Stomping Ground tapped and me with a dork. On his turn he played a Forest and casted a Utopia Spraw, tapping the land for 2 RR and making Magma Jet on my dork. I played another Cavern and casted a Mystic. On his turn he played Mwonvuli Acid-Moss targeting my cavern and passed. Soo, I just have on board a Cavern + Mystic with no more lands in hand. I cast a Elite and passed. He casted a Stone Rain on my land and passed. I played Heritage, tapped for 3 green and casted Archdruid. He draws, cast a birds and pass. He has on board 4 lands + Utopia + Birds, soo he may have a lot of LD in hand + some big spells like Inferno Titan. On my turn I cast another Archdruid and passed with one Archdruid, Mystic and Heritage untapped and attacked for 4 with Elite. On his turn he casts a Bonfire from top and I tapped 3 elves for Heroic Intervention. On my turn I casted Ezuri and overrun him.

    2x0

Match 3 - Monowhite Hatebears (the matchup that all elves players wanna face)

Game 1 - I go down to 5 cards and get a perfect 5 cards hand: 1x Heritage, 1x Elite, 1x Lead, 1x Cavern and 1x Canpopy. I started with Heritage and passed; he goes to plains + vial. I played Elite, tapped for 3 green, casted Lead and drew 4 Elves (Nettle, Archdruid, Visionary and a dork). Eventually I played all my elves and he scoops.

Sb - Out: 2 Nettles and 1 Visioanry. In: 2 Rec Sage and 1 Essence Warden.

Game 2 - He makes a plains + vial. I make a T1 dork. He casted Arbiter and passed. I casted t2 Rec Sage targeting his vial. On his T3 he makes a Blade Splicer and passed. I drew Heritage and started to dumping my hand. I won in the next 2 turns with Lead + CoCo + Eternal Witness + CoCo, playing Shaman from my hand and another from CoCo making like 35 damage.

Some thoughts: I am very happy with Heroic Intervention as you all can notice. I was hesitant to use 3 Heroic + 3 Chords, based on idea to play more creatures on sb to make more use from the toolbox strategy, but Chording for a Burrenton or a Selfless Spirit can be a really heavy mana play, soo, I decided to cut these 2 cards from my side + another random one to make room to 3 Heroic. In my list, running a lot of white cards can be problematic too, since my only white mana source in md are 4x Canopies. I dont like to run fetches because the manabase can be a lot painful with the full set of Canopies, which I am not willing to take any of the Horizon Canopies. The Chords on side can be huge to beat Living End, Storm, Affinity, Abzan Company or any other deck that are faster than us. I start to feel confiant with this list, even knowing that I had luck with the matchs and with the dice rolls.

Normally, I used 19 lands and started to flood a lot, soo I decided to cut one forest to fix a Eternal Witness, which until now, she's been great. Drawing it or revealing it with Lead is another turn with full action.

Well, thats it. Thanks for reading and love u all elves players <3

'500 match with death's shadow' from Lantto! Impressive numbers from himself piloting this deck. and guess what? the smaller percentage of winning is against elves and dredge. at the moment, he is 4-7 against us. to me, its very representative, since he's a great player. soo, we're in very good shape in this metagame. I am very excited to go to Grand Prix São Paulo. lets see if the metagame remains the same.

Hello, elf players! I have a gpt this weekend and I'm moving off GB Lead the Stampede version to GW Chord toolbox, because the midrange decks here are decreasing here, dont know why. Soo, I have not soo much experience piloting this toolbox list. Could anyone help me with a sideboard guide of this kind of list?

I am gonna play the gw list of Liam Lonergam of the invitational. What to expect in this event:

    Abzans
    Jund
Jeskai Control (what cut for this matchups? 2x Chord? Against jeskai control side in silver bullets like Selfless Spirit is a option?)

Affinity (1x Kataki, 2x F. Gust, 1x Rec Sage, removing 3 Visionaries and maybe 1 Nettle?)
Burn (2x Paths, 2x Finks, 1x Burrenton, removing 3 Visionaries and maybe 1 Ezuri and 1 chord?)
Ad Nauseam (1x Rec Sage, 1x Revoker, 1x Burrenton (to prevent the red spell? or they just go off with the empty draw to win with the blue creature?) taking off 3 visionaries?)
Infect (2x Paths, 1x Melira, removing 3 Visionaries)
    Titanshift
    UW Spirits
    Grixis Delver
    Bant Eldrazi
    Lantern
    Esper Control
    Trons

What thoughts about it? Thanks to all

Selfless is a great card and could be a good chord target, but to me just in SB, not in MD. As a Lead player, if my opponent cast a Anger or Wrath, I just wanna rebuild the board over and over again (if you watched the g3 of the finals, my opponent plays 1x Anger and 2x Supreme, one Supreme in a topdeck after a serum visions when he was at 1 life). Still, I didnt draw any of my 3 leads in the finals.

I may add a Burrenton in sb (wished a Burrenton yesterday because the matchs of RG Valakut), but in my local meta it never shows up, soo it was a kind of unexpected matchup. But yes, Selfless is a great card and can be in our sideboard.

Hey everyone! This weekend was great to elves. I won a local PPTQ from Recife, the city where I live here in Brasil. 2 weeks ago I played another pptq and made top8 with Lead GB list with the same list I played yesterday.

    19 LANDS
    4 Cavern of Souls
    4 Forest
    4 Gilt-Leaf Palace
    4 Horizon Canopy
    2 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
    1 Pendelhaven

    4 Dwynen's Elite
    4 Elvish Archdruid
    4 Elvish Mystic
    4 Elvish Visionary
    2 Ezuri, Renegade Leader
    4 Heritage Druid
    4 Llanowar Elves
    4 Nettle Sentinel
    4 Shaman of the Pack

    4 Collected Company
    3 Lead the Stampede

    SIDEBOARD

    2 Chameleon Colossus
    3 Chord of Calling
    3 Kitchen Finks
    1 Melira, Sylvok Outcast
    1 Reclamation Sage
    1 Spellskite
    1 Viscera Seer
    1 Choke
    2 Fracturing Gust

    Round 1 - Affinity 2x1

g1 He kept a slow hand with no Cranial Plating and I win elfstrming and Ezuri's activation.
g2 He kept a fast hand with Plating, Ghirapur Æther Grid and 2 Signal and Mox. No chances.
g3 He mull to 6 and kept another slow hand. I overrun him.

    Round 2 - Merfolk 2x0

    g1 Elfstorming + ezuri's overrun.
g2 He mull to 6 and I beat with Netles, Elites and Shamans.

    Round 3 - Merfolk 1x2 (Loss)
g1 I elfstorm play CoCo and didnt find anything, just 2 Elvish Visionaries that draws 2 lands to me and nothing more.
g2 Archdruid on t2, another on t4 and t5 Ezuri.
g3 Elfstorm and didnt draw anything. Started well but I drew 5 lands in a row. Eventually he kill me with 5/5's Islandwalk.

    Round 4 - RG Valakut 1x2 (Loss)

g1 I am faster enough to win before he can cast Through the Breach. CoCo + Shamans worked well.
g2 turn 4 Through the Breach, Emrakul.
g3 turn 4 Through the Breach, Emrakul.

    Round 5 - UW Spirits
g1 Elfostorming and win with 2 Shamans and Nettles beatdown.
    g2 same thing.

I was very lucky and could top8ed with a horrible 3-2 record. My 2 losses was to 2 guys that made top8. I was 7o. place in the swiss.

Top8 - RG Valakut 2x1 (same guy from the round 4) Great, Emrakul again.

g1 I win the race and could win before he could find Through the Breach. Shamans + CoCo again.
g2 Guess what? Through the Breach, Emrakul. (I was wondering how many copys of Emrakul he has on md)
g3 He kept a slow hand and miss his 4th land drop, the match is very intense, but I could win attaking with Nettles and casting 3 Shamans. His last turn he cast Baloth won 4 life, 10 life total, he pass. In my turn I had 1x Llanowar Elves, 1x Nettle Sentinel, 1x Visionary, 1x Shaman of the Pack, 2x Cavern of Souls and 1x Nykthos. I used Nykthos, add 4 green, cast Elite, putting two bodies in play, then cast Shaman for 7, then attaking with Shaman, Nettle and Visionary. Exactly 10.

    Top4 - Naya Zoo 2x0.

You can wath this match here: https://www.twitch.tv/flash_gordonq/v/84933085 (the match started at 30 minutes of the video).

    Finals - Jeskai Nahiri 2x1.

Unfortunately, I cant find g1 and g2 on camera. Maybe the store's owner didnt press the record button, dont know yet.

g1 I kept a midrange hand with no 1 drops. at t3 I have no elves in play and I am trying to put some clock, even if it plays Nahiri, I could attack her using just visionaries and making he uses removal on this cards. at some point of the game, he has nahiri, I cast visionary and elite, pass the turn, he plus 2 nahiri going to 8 and cast Supreme Veredict. Soo, I couldnt attack her to not get Emrakul on play. Soo, gg. Emrakul again.

g2 I kept another midrange game but with dorks, 2 CoCos and Nettles. Eventually I get the victory beating him down with small guys and casting CoCos. He casted a Supreme, Anger of the Gods and another Anger with Snapcaster. I got the win anyway.

g3 u can watch here: https://www.twitch.tv/flash_gordonq/v/84949714 . The game 3 was pretty similar to g2.

Well, this is it. Thanks to reading and thanks to all of you, making this forum so great with many informations and thoughts, helped me a lot in this months playing elves. I will play elves on PTQ too. Lets see what happens. With elves winning the Invitational I can see a lot of removals in a near future.

Hey everyone! I went to a PPTQ this weekend and top8ed with GB Lead Elves. In the swiss I was the 1st with 15 points, 6 rounds, with a 5-1 record.
Lost in the quarter-finals to Abzan CoCo.
I am running the exactly same list that Sullano used in GP Piths (I think). Just some changes in the sideboard, with the toolbox strategy.

    - match 1 - RG Tron - 2x1

Game one he plays Ugin and I scoop.
Game 2 he dont pyroclasmed and dont close the tron on turn 3, on turn 4 I play Shaman, chord for another, drain for about 15 and attack for the win.
Game 3 he flood a lot after 2 Kozilek's Return and I beat him for the win with Shamans and Dwyene's.

    - match 2 - UR Delver Thing in the Ice - Lost 1x2

Game 1 I just played one land the entire game and never could see a fair game. Delvers flipped, Snapcasters targeting bolt..
Game 2 I played a "stompy" game, beating him with nettle sentinels and shaman. No CoCos, no leads, just beating.
Game 3 Same as game 2 but the thing in the ice flipped and in the same turn he plays a blood moon. just 1 forest in play. GG.

    - match 3 - Ad Nauseam - 2x0

Game 1 I Elfstorm him with Nettles and Heritage to win the race.
Game 2 Same as game 1, but he cast a Angel's Grace when I attacked for lethal. After that I cast a Shaman and he scoop.

    - match 4 - Burn - 2x1

Game 1 I win the die roll (sweet agains burn) and on turn 3 cast CoCo to two Shamans and drain for 8, he scooped.
Game 2 Lose to Monastery on t1, Blaze on t2 and Eidolon on t3.
Game 3 Same as game 1.

    - match 5 - Jeskai Nahiri - 2x0

Game 1 I am in doubt if he has some mass removal and played very carefully. Went for the beatdown plan with Nettles, withouth elfstorming. Played some Elvish Visionary (all-star in this match), and win with Shamans. (He path a visionary lol, bolt another, soo the win was easy).
Game 2 Pretty similar with the first game. I overrun for the win after 2x Timely Reinforcements from his side (I love when people dont know what to side in against elves).

    - match 6 - Jund - 2x1

I am at 12 points and cant draw for top8 because my opponent is at 10 points. Soo, lets play.

Game 1 I mulligan to 6 and he crush me with bolts, abrupts and Kalitas.
Game 2 I mulligan to 6 to a weak hand but topdecked a CoCo in turn 3 after he seize. Pass with 3 untapped lands and a dork, he cast Liliana, -2 and I coco in response, put Shaman and Dwynen's in play. In my turn I cast a lord and beat for 9. I pass and he Pulse the lord and pass to me. I show another lord in hand and he scoops.
Game 3 He dont side out the Seizes or Inquisitions and made a T1 Inquistion, discarding a dork and reading a lot my Chameleon Colossus. "Just 4/4 and pro from black" I said. on ther turn he seize me and discard the colossus and play a goyf. I draw CoCo and cast at EOT and win with overrun in 2 turns.

15 Points and 1st in the swiss. I won 20 boosters from eldritch moon and a playmat (the prizes is in accordance to the swiss, the top8 was just for the acess to the ptq). It seems strange but ok, no complains here.

top8 - Abzan CoCo - An good player from my local city and extremely nice guy.

Game 1 I started with dork, t2 lord, t3 prepared for CoCo at EOT to win on t4 with ezuri in hand, but he combos me on t3.
Game 2 The game goes longer, he is at 3 because of 2 Shamans but I cant go for the beatdown because he has a lot of creatures. Topdecked a Chord and win.
Game 3 Same as game 1. T3 combo in my face.

    some thoughts:

CoCo and Shaman are the best cards in the deck. No news. The synergy is just great.
Combo sucks. We cant interact soo, its a hard match to us. Even reading a lot of people talking that we are faster.
In this actual meta with a lot of midranges decks we are in a good shape.
Maybe I wanna cut finks from side to change for Scoozes. Maybe is better agains Snapcasters deck and Abzan. In GB list Burn seems a fair match to us, since with Shaman of the Pack we can race.

Top8 from event: GB Elves, Abzan midrange, 2x Merfolks, Death and Taxes, Affinity, Grixis Delver and Abzan CoCo.
I would preffer face any other deck in the top 8 than Abzan CoCo, but no complains, the event was great. 55~60 players.

    My side:

    3x Chords
    1x Viscera
    1x Spellskite
    2x Colossus
    2x Fracturing Gust
    1x Melira
    2x Rec Sage
    3x Finks

I played a lot with GW Sylvan Messengers list, another list with Duskwatch Recruiter, gb elves with 18 lands with no Canopies and 4x wastes instead, and neither of these lists impressed me like the list from Sullano. 19 lands with 4x Horizon Canopy is great. Wouldnt change anything. 2 Ezuris and 4 Visionaries is great too.

Well, I think thats all. Sorry about some gramatical errors or inaccurate report.

Seth Manfield made some videos piloting GB Leads Elves.

    If no one watched/read: http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/article.asp?ID=13385&writer=Seth Manfield&articledate=7-13-2016

This is the better version of the deck right now. I was playing a lot with some differents builds, and what I can say is that better results came with the gb shaman of the pack version. GW is good but the Shaman version have some free wins with CoCo. GW version with Sylvan helps against Grixis, Jund and Jeskai and thats all. With Shaman we can race any deck in format.

Can you show the win % of the naya burn? I believe that naya is most popular because most people enjoy to play with Atarka's Command, but it doesnt make this version better. Dont know if this is relevant, but in the last 3 major events of modern (GP Singapura, GP Copenhagen and GP Charlotte), the best burns performances, in top8 or top16, are buids that run the old version of burn with 4 skullcrack in main.

In GP Charlotte a old burn skullcrack version made top8, losing to elfs, in quarterfinals, the champion of the event. Soo, the winning percentage of naya on modern is relevant to talk about it in a real event like a Grand Prix? Dont know a version of naya making a top8. If someone knows a list that made it, show me, please.

Jund burn its a nice version, I have played a lot with Tasiburn but I still preffer the version with White and a small splash to Destructive Revelry. Tasigur its very good at the middle and late game. Sometimes you will play it and make a lot of pressure, but in general, our bad matchups became worse.
I am playing the old version with a single Stomping Ground and a full set of Skullcrack on mainboard. Even thinking that Atarka's Command is great, the manabase become awful: our mulligans become even worse, bad matchups became harder (more damage of lands, more mana issues, etc). Jund or Naya Burn have a lot of trouble against Merfolk, in the mirror and against affinity, basicly.

The matchs that cards like Tasigur, Atarka's Command or even Wild Nacatl have more power are matchups that we already have a good position, like Grixis, Twin or Jund. Especially Jund , that games take longer, Tasigur can be a star, but its a match that we can beat without green or black splash. Or we just can put a single Blood Crypt to use Self-Inflicted Wound. But I dont know if its a good idea. Didnt test yet.

At moment, skullcrack has done a lot of work, a colorless mana and another red its great against Sprending Seas. Maybe the meta from here make this version better to pilot than anothers. Just a metacall, maybe. But I have a lot of experience that skullcrack save me of Deflecting Palm on mirror, Kor Firewalker sbs (abzan company, mirror, etc), Burrenton Forge-Tender. Cards that we see more often in the last months.

About the text of Anthony Lowry, I disagree. We can read the comments too, a lot of burn players talking that burn still well-positioned in atual meta. Tarmogoyf can be a trouble for us, but just one in board doesnt do soo much. What scares me is a 4/5 Tarmogoyf and Feed the Clan, just that. But we can play around, I think.

Anyway, sorry about my english, inst very good.

    Hi, everyone!

I was wondering if isnt the time to add maybe 2 Relic of Progenitus in our sb! In a meta with Grixis Control (lock the snapcasters, Tasigurs, Gurmags..), Jund (decrease Goyf's power, has the possibility to stop Kitchen Finks and lock Tasigur in opponent's hand) and the worst matchup for us, Griselshoal, could be a great option.

I dont have mutch problems to deal with Jund or Grixis, but sometimes it could be hard. I dont have soo much options to side in, just Path to Exile for Tasigurs, Goyfs and some times Destructive Revelry to destroy Dragon's Claw. And against Griselshoal I dont know what could help us, just Path to Exile or Deflecting Palm.

    Any suggestion?
