I gotta' agree that four colour focuses in on stuff a little more than 5 colour.

What I do, is think of the four colour combos not as the four colours come together, but as the colour missing. Breya is obviously great for artifacts, as green has little to no support in artifacts. Atraxa's proliferate abilities have no support in red, as red isn't really a 'teamplayer' sorta' colour. Story wise, they explain this, as all the praeter's came together to create Atraxa, except the red guy (why can't I remember his name?!), as red doesn't really scream teamwork, as I said.

    Urabrask the Hidden.

I'm really happy with my Atraxa deck, personally. Wondering about whether to pick up Saskia or Breya next.

Coalition Victory can be responded to just like any Tooth and Nail combo, Kiki Jiki combo, or other creature combo, though. Plenty of commanders have instant win one card combos as well that are harder to stop. I don't see why it comboing with every 5 color commander is a big deal. Stuff like Teferi-Pool can't even be league ruled out either unless you ban something. Of course, that's probably an argument for unbanning Worldfire and I'm not sure what, exactly, anyone did with Sway of the Stars other than be a dick that got it banned. I guess you could float some mana and be assured of playing your commander or something so I guess it's a combo with some commander that has blue in it that can finish people off. I mean if you just want to be a dick, we have plenty of other cards you can cast like Decree of Annihilation. I mean sure they might not lead to fun gamestates, but I don't see how any of those 3 cards is anything but yet another combo and I don't see how anyone could accidentally wreck a game with them unlike say, Sylvan Primordial where someone plays them and an opponent decides to go off with it. There's also a lot of combos that cost less and are, you know, better. Grin That Teferi-Pool lock can even be split over 2 turns since it involves a flash commander and then isn't really even possible to respond to the non commander piece. Combo players are going to combo no matter what.

Sway of the Stars may as well literally read "Restart the Game, everyone's life total becomes seven." It basically resets everything that happened before it was cast, and that's why it's banned.

I would, but I'm pretty not picky in general.

You could also play a modified version of this: Daretti Prison for multiplayer.

Blood moon, kill theirs lands, burn their stuff, kill artifacts, sundering titan. Your mana base is simpler and faster and you can use the broken ramp stuff of multiplayer banlist (sol ring, etc.) in better ways tha them.

Just look at the artifacts in op, you said you wanted to play solitaire I thinks this suits well.

Sundering titan is banned in commander, so unless the OP stated they're using a different ban list and I missed it, Sundering titan can't be used.

Saskia, the Unyielding is the worst. Wizards needs to understand that more girls are playing the game, and we don't want big ugly man girls.
    Quote from Kedvesem »
Are you a man? If so, that might explain your opinion. So many men white knight us and think we want to be treated like men. We don't. We want to be beautiful and feminine, not trying to be a poor-man's man.

Isn't this kind of a massive generalization? Besides, which, Saskia doesn't even look that ugly to me, and her appearance makes sense. She has a masculine physique because she's from a warrior berserker culture, her favored weapon is apparently a fantasy style great-axe, and her chest is wrapped in bindings so that her breasts don't get in her way mid-combat.

Hell, if anything, as a woman, I'm really glad to see less boob-plate. Sure, this may not necessarily be the most effective armor, but at least it looks like something that's just from a fantasy book, and not outright stupid.

I tend to prefer women that are beautiful and feminine myself, but I like diversity too. I wasn't even sure I was going to pick Saskia up, but I think you've convinced me to. :p

In order of how much I want to do something with the commanders

    1. Atraxa (Going to be my new default)
    2. Saskia (Maybe french? I haven't decided. Basing the flavor off a character of my friend's.)
    3. Breya. She's got a weird but neat effect.
    4. Yidris. I don't care for the colors much, but I like the cascade thing.
    5. Grouphug.dec = nope.dec

None of the partners really appeal to me.

Im trying to figure this out in the comprehensive rules, maybe some guru knows the answer.
    Force of Savagery
    Selvala, Heart of the Wilds
Do I tap for 8? Mana ability no stack/response vs. State based.

State based wins out, as far as I can see.

605.3. Activating an activated mana ability follows the rules for activating any other activated ability (see rule 602.2), with the following exceptions:

605.3a A player may activate an activated mana ability whenever he or she has priority, whenever he or she is casting a spell or activating an ability that requires a mana payment, or whenever a rule or effect asks for a mana payment, even if it’s in the middle of casting or resolving a spell or activating or resolving an ability.

116.5. Each time a player would get priority, the game first performs all applicable state-based actions as a single event (see rule 704, “State-Based Actions”), then repeats this process until no state-based actions are performed. Then triggered abilities are put on the stack (see rule 603,“Handling Triggered Abilities”). These steps repeat in order until no further state-based actions are performed and no abilities trigger. Then the player who would have received priority does so.

You can't activate the mana ability until you have priority, and you don't get priority until after state-based actions are checked, at which point Force of Savagery will be put into the graveyard for having 0 toughness.

For future reference, this is where you want to go for asking rules questions like this. http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/magic-fundamentals/magic-rulings

What are the top planeswalkers, and optimal lands, for Neophyrexia (GWUB)?

Well, that's going to depend on your commander. While it's fairly safe to assume you're going for Atraxa, especially going by the title, there are other things you could be doing.

Additionally, it's going to depend on the other cards in your deck. You're in luck though, because Atraxa is going to be my new default commander, so I need an answer to this question too, and have a day off to answer it with.

Let's get the obvious out of the way: Fetchlands, Original Duals and Shocklands are all worth inclusion. Given how long you've been on the site, I figure you know what these cards are by now.

Painlands like Llanowar Wastes could be worth consideration for budget reasons.

City of Brass and Mana Confluence are both perfectly decent.

Forbidden Orchard Is a really good source of mana in the right deck.

Depending on your group's competitiveness, Mirrodin's Core could be a fine card that interacts quite well with Atraxa's Proliferate effect. Tendo Ice Bridge is similar, but better and Gemstone Mine is arguably better than both.

Murmuring Boskisn't great, but might be worth consideration.

Krosan Vergeis a good fetch effect and also kind of mana ramp-y.

Pillar of the Paruns is potentially decent, depending on the makeup of your deck.

Reflecting Pool can function pretty effectively, depending on the other lands in your deck.

Riftstone Portal and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth can both Massively help your mana fixing.

Tolaria West is potentially worth considering, given its tutor ability.

Exotic Orchard is a maybe, but it depends on your opponents, so I won't be including it myself.

I would advise against cards that always come in tapped, like rupture Spire, transguild Promenade, or possibly even tri-lands like Arcane Sanctum.

As for top Planeswalkers, the answer depends on what it is you want the deck to do. Nissa Revane would normally be lousy, but if you're doing some sort of weird NeoPhyrexia Elf Tribal, she's good.

Based on the commander likely being Atraxa Ajani Goldmane and Ajani Steadfast are good.

Elspeth, Knight Errant can be ulted really easily in Neophyrexia. Garruk Wildspeaker is worth consideration for ramp reasons. Jace, the Mindsculptor is pretty much always worth consideration.

Honestly, most of the 60 planeswalkers that are usable in Neophyrexia can be good in the deck, it just depends on what you're aiming to do.

    I think I've covered everything.

I'm in favor of a Protean Hulk unban as long as Tooth and Nail is legal. It hardly seems worse in any real respect.

Yeah, the reason I argue for a Painter's servant unban is that everything mean you can do with it can already be done with things not on the banlist, and the kind of player who would use Ugin or All Is Dust with Painter's on the field is explicitly not the sort of person this format is targeted at.

I was actually one of the people arguing that PoK wasn't strong/problematic enough to warrant a ban. That being said, I personally believe Painter is quite harmless and nowehere near PoK's power level or the potential to create problematic scenarios. PoK was at least a cornerstone of a few strong established decks (Derevi, Momir Vig, Zegana). Can you at least partially illustrate a comparable imapct you believe Painter might have? I find that only fair since you are advocating for a PoK unban, while trying to argue for Painter to remain banned. Honestly, I think you're just one of those people that's a little sore because one of their pet cards got banned.

I can't really speculate the effects of painter's unban. I'm interested to know why people even want painter unbanned over cards that deserve it more? Painter was banned because of its' combo potential and today there are even more pieces that combo with painter, tomorrow there might be more. I'm pretty sure that every set wizards print has multiple cards that interact favorably with painter.

Which cards deserve to be unbanned more than Painter, exactly? I'm curious.

I want to make a Drana, Liberator of Malakir Tiny Leaders deck, but am unsure where to even begin. I'm well aware she's probably not considered one of the best available options, but this is for a foiling out project, rather than making a tier 1 deck (I could just do Anafenza or something if I wanted that).

Does anyone have a Drana List I could look at? I couldn't find any on Google. My friend said mono-black suicide would work with her, but I've never built a deck like that.

Well, there's Shardless BUG in legacy, soo...

And Deathrite Shaman, Baleful strix, Force of Will, Jace, Brainstorm, and Hymn to Tourach aren't Modern legal. I'm well aware of Shardless BUG's existence, but that's not what I'm asking for. It's a similar concept that couldn't work in Modern with what we have available.

I'm asking specifically, was a RUG deck with Bloodbraid Elf and Ancestral Visions ever legal anywhere else and a problem? I'm well aware that Shardless BUG is essentially what the deck would TRY to be, but I'm asking if we've ever been given any reason to believe they'd actually succeed.
