I think expectations are playing a big role in the opinions here. To say the movie lacked everything that made the first good is a stretch when you consider they recycled a good sized pile of the first movie. I saw the first one in 99 or 2000 when it was new and loved it. Now it is so hyped I have trouble enjoying it. I saw three problems with it. 1. The female fbi agent is like a toothache. Awful performace! 2. It seemed so much less subtle in the delivery. You don't have to beat me over the head with a joke for me to get it and the last thing I needed was a comic relief guy like they gave us. 3. It's just too Hollywood. The original was that thing you write because you want to tell a story that you feel strong about. This one felt like that story you write because someone else wants you to. Just my opinion though. To be honest though I think a lot of what gets pumped out these days is a lot of boom and no real substance. I'll watch this again before I randomly pick a new release off a shelf.

They are good reads. For anyone looking let me know. I have these with extras of some and an obscure used bookstore down the street that has most of them under a pile of dust. Is there anyone here trafficking in the books. I haven't been able to find someone yet. I"m in the odyssey block. (started in Lorwyn then went to the beginning based on release date.)
