What is everyone's experience against the various grixis matchups? The most common one being Grixis Control in my meta. My original plan was to go for Unburial + Iona naming black. Then I thought about the matchup more and thought that I should just do gifts for value with colonnade beatdowns, but that wasn't working out for me. I went back to slow them down the first few turns with remanding or pathing delved fatties, see if they tap out for T4-T6 and gifts with counter backup if needed for unburial+Iona naming black. Only after then do I go for Gifts for value all the way and try to hold onto a counterspell if they try to cryptic bounce Iona.
I play a friend of mine who runs Grixis Control every week, and he has 2-3 Creeping Tar Pits in there that give me a lot of trouble. My only interactions pre-board are Paths and 1 Ghost Quarter. Post-board I have 2 Celestial Purges as well. The problem is my Paths and Purges typically are hitting resolved fatties so I'm not taking 4-5 a turn early on. Then later on I have so few threats and tar pit comes in unblockable. Many of the games he wins against me are with Tar Pit beatdowns plus Snappy and Bolts.
I know darksteel originally wrote his OP a long time ago, so the matchup analysis doesn't include some of the more recent decks - most noteably all the grixis variants. I'm interested to hear others experiences against them and what the game plan is.
And UW Gifts Tron has enough variance on its own. Even if you don't flood out, you'll have plenty of fun times with hard drawing Unburial or your reanimation target without Thirst in hand. I mean I still love the deck, but you do have to accept that MTG naturally has a lot of variance on its own, and UW Gifts Tron adds additional variance to it.
In 10 Tron, I don't like Eye of Ugin because you have Tron a lot less. I also think 10 Tron has the flexibility to play cards like Ghost Quarter or Watery Grave because the mana is better. I also think you can sub the Watery Grave or one of the Snow-Covered lands to on-colour duals to make things a little better, but that's largely personal preference.
I've been reading this thread for awhile and have started to piece together this as my first modern deck. Can you please post the rest of your list? Thanks
Darksteel: I see in the changelog you mentioned you changed the matchup analysis recently. I was perusing through a bunch of them and they still look the same as when I viewed it a month ago. Was that something you still were working on? Or did I miss the changes?
Also curious what you think of all the Grixis matchups lately (control, twin, delver). I've had my gameplan been to resolve gifts into Unburial + Iona and naming black against all variations so far but not sure if its right. Naming black shuts off Tasifur, Angler, K-command and Terminate namely. However they can just Cryptic bounce Iona then I need to wait to hardcast her with enough mana for some protection on a counter war. I'm thinking perhaps my gameplan should instead emphasize to keep the board clear of delved fatties and hope to draw into Emrakul while I slowly beat them down with Colonnades and keep up Path/Counters? If it weren't for the black that every deck splashes, I would love to name blue to shut off their cantrips, counters, and card advantage engines.
I've been going through my first post here and can't find all the non-latin characters can I be added to the bypass list as well please? I wanted to start contributing here and its frustrating not being able to. I understand it was to deal with spammers and a better way hasn't been found yet.

It's probably very similar to McWinSauce's list:
