I just recently added the Bolts, Baloth, and Courser.
The Bolts haven't done much yet, but I'm sure they'll be useful.
Courser was pretty good.
I never casted the Baloth or brought in any yet, so I'm not sure how I feel about the 1 in the main.
I'm fairly new to this deck so any insight and suggestions/changes would be vastly appreciated!
I also uploaded a playthrough of a 5-round Modern League event can be found in my sig.
I'm not sure why Mtg fan is so adamant that cyclonic rift is such a terrible card and that we should never play it and directly substitute Ugin for it. The cards aren't even situationally comparable. We should strive to make constructive comments in this forum that create discussions to further this wonderful deck.
Ugin does things that cyclonic rift cannot. You are right to say that Ugin would have won that game for shoktroopa against Reid Duke. But you can't really say play Ugin over cyclonic rift. For one, Ugin only hits cards of one or more colors and can only be cast during your main phase whereas cyclonic rift is an instant and hits nonland permanents with or without a color. They are two different cards with different effects and have their strengths and weaknesses in different situations. I play both in my deck
Hey Twitch, I like your current build. Mine is similar but I run a few more creatures. Sundering Titan vs. Ugin, The Spirit Dragon is a tough call. I haven't tried Ugin yet but its hard to imagine my U Tron without its sundering titan. Could be I'm a little sentimental. I think you should try out your build and let us know. I would suggest though, trading your side board Batterskull with one of the main deck Wurmcoil Engine. I love having two wurmcoil main deck but when I started running Gifts Ungiven I felt the batterskull made for better gifts piles. Like when I need a wurmcoil or would settle for his little brother batterskull I can cast gifts for Batterskull/Wurmcoil Engine/Academy Ruins/Noxious Revival getting me both threats. It has been decent for me fighting off aggro type decks and can provide finishing power in the control type matchups. The second wurmcoil can always join the party out of the sideboard.
Question for you guys. I've been running a Tectonic Edge maindeck with a Ghost Quarter in the sideboard (mainly because that is what I saw in shoktroopa's list). What are your opinions on this? What are the pros and cons of each? If I have one maindeck is it worth it to use a sideboard slot on the other? I'm finalizing my deck list for Wisconsin states this sunday and could use some advice.
Hi All. I want to start out by thanking everyone who posts to this thread. I have been following for a few months now. The information and insight posted here got me started in modern and the wonders of mono U tron! I must say that I am quite addicted and feel that I have played enough to join the conversation, however, I still have much to learn.
I have seen in a couple posts that people side out platinum angel against Twin. I have not personally run across a twin deck yet and am wondering why angel gets sided out. Is it too slow? Too hard to protect? It seems like it would be good against the combo. Again, I'm new.
How do I view the 5 round modern league event?
