If you are playing fetchlands, playing a couple of shocklands is a must. It also depends if you are playing the pure UW version or the Bant version. Either way having acces to horizon canopy is pretty great to avoid flooding a lot. But mutavault and moorland haunt can do the trick if the canopys are too expensive for you, especially in the uw version.
Hi, I just wanted to ask the community if there is some sort of database or resource online, where I can find out what are the decks that have won at least a GP and/or a Pro Tour in Modern. I tried to scour the web for something like that, but I havent found anything yet.
One with black for Decays+Kolaghans command+Goblin Darkdwellers. To fight thopter/Sword combo more effectively, and be able to compete in card adavantage. Probabbly gonna get myself some boom/Bust aswell.
Any preliminary thoughts?
If you're running all those cards you're basically playing worse jund. If you want to play those cards, probably just play jund.
I see. I dont know. It feels to my like two different decks. I mean, the problem playing jund against AV specially is that it doesn't usually present a significant clock. My idea is to keep the general philosophy of the deck the same, only giving it some more grindy options as well as the best anti-blue interaction (Decay). I still will keep the hierarchs and nacatls in. But maybe you are onto something with the "Worse Jund" as an aggresive version of the deck. We got some pretty nice cards to brew with I think.
Im going to build 3 different versions of zoo to try in this new meta and eventually will get back to you with my conclussions:
One with blue, co-co and geistof saint traft. Wich I think works wonders agains AV Based control decks.
One pure naya with walkers and oath. For a better mana base and a more streamlined plan. Similar to what lantern posted.
And

Hi guys I recently started playing this deck and I wanted to hear your impresions on fiery impulse. For me it just can't kill anything relevant other than or a jace. With people playing sylvan advocate and other 3 thoughness guys for 2 and 3 mana it just sits in my hand not doing what it is supposed to do, wich is being cheap efficient earlygame interaction. It might be because I havent played against all the decks in the format yet (Where are the atarka red in my meta seriously?), but; do you also think the card is not good enough until you get spellmastery online?
I love this deck but I find it lacks enough good early interaction, and can get really far behind if the oponent starts deploying 3 thougness creatures before spellmastery is online. And by then, it can be way too late.
Hi @cbgirardo, I have a couple of questions about this deck:
Can this work without fulminator mages and Dark Confidants? I want to build something like this but I don't have any of the former and it's not likely that I will get them anytime soon.
I like playing Co-Co Anafenza, but it is a bit unreliable for my liking. Do you have similar issues with this deck?
I have extensively tested it against many diferent decks and my conclusions are what I expected. The deck is solid and usually favored against any kind of slow/grindy MU but tempo and fast linear combo/aggro decks are a nightmare unless you draw the specific hate, and you cant reliably have the option to combo em out of nowhere like you have with the coco list. I can list you the matchups from the tier 1 thread and tell you how I felt the deck performs against every one of them:
Burn: Slighly favored pre SB; even better after sb. This is a pretty easy mu for any deck with so many blockers and lifegain maindeck so, simmilar to coco.
UR Twin: Slightly unfavored to unfavored pre sb; even to somewhat favored after sb. Really dependent in the hands/draws.
Merfolk: Slightly unfavoured to even pre sb; post sb is reaaaally dependant, if they side in hibernations you are pretty much done, and choke is not even that good nowdays.
Infect: Unfavored pre sb, unless you draw your 1x melira or your 1x orzhov pontiff, pendelhaven and noble hierarch can make your lingering souls irrelevant; even to slighly favored after sb if you have enough hand disruption and removal.
Grixis Twin: Even before sb; even to favoured after sb. This MU is pretty much like UR twin but easier because they dont usually go so hard on the combo, and the grindiest the best for us.
Affinity: Unfavoured before sb; favoured after SB. Affinity is affinity, not much to say
Amulet: Very unfavoured before sb; even to slightly favoured after sb. It really depends on the number of fulminators hand disruption etc you can pack.
GR Tron: Unfavoured pre sb; even to slightly favoured after sb. Like Amulet, but easier.
Jund: The only actual favourable MU pre sb, but also somewhat hand dependant, unanswered bobs are the key to this mu; still favourable but less after SB.
This are my thoughts. Feel free to point out anything that I might have overlooked, because im writing this on the fly.
Thank you Lantern for your advices. I love how much work you put in this forum. The sb Guide is awesome. I'll try to get someone to let me the fourth hierarch for the tournament, the goyfs are a litle bit more problematic. Maybe I'll get a playset for chrismas, if I get enough money.
Anyways thank you so much for the help, I'll tell you how I do in the tournament.
And now the questions:
a)Do I really need the goyfs and the fourth hierarch to be able to play this deck? or do you think some combination of Loxodon Smiter, Voices, Qasalis and Oozes can do the trick?
b)What sideboard do you recommend for a big tournament with an unknown field? I'm taking the deck to a somewhat big event this weekend and I want to be prepared. (I guess I'll do a small report after)
Hi, I have been testing the leap deck recently and for me it doesn't have a good enough early game. Once you get going the engine is ridiculous, and it doesn't even need a combo to win. But I dont think it's well positioned in the meta right now.
The unfair fast decks seem almost imposible to beat consistently. Sometimes I would get lucky and draw the specific hate/chord and that would feel great, but most times I wouldn't. Maybe it's my build or maybe I need to mulligan more aggresively for the specific hate, but I personally think that going for the combo with co-co is generaly a better plan, although somewhat unreliable aswell.
Also that sounds like a great idea @Torpf I'm looking forward to see it.
Thanks in advance ^^.
Is there a reason not to play the fourth Oath of nissa? I think it makes the goyf better when one goes to the GY (Legendary rule interactions)
Also
Could you explain a litle bit the 1 Voice, 2 Ooze, 2 Qasali and 3 Smiter? I don't get why those numbers. Is it a meta call?
Thanks

Seems extremely good on this deck.
Have anyone tested it?
