If you have a chance to look at my list and tell me if I do support the "fast" reanimator deck, I'd super appreciate it! Otherwise, I think I'm gonna run with Dance and playtest the heck out of it.
I'm really happy to hear such great results. I was interested in this card but immediately biased against it. After opening my mind a little, it does seem like a fantastic addition.
Thanks for the input! That led me to another line of thought: I think I might try out Dance of the Dead first, primarily because I already run Living Death. I don't want two different cards that rely on playing around and setting up for maximum benefit (although obviously they would work well in a deck together if you are playing the exact same way.) I can see Exhume being better in the long run.
How often does your opponent get something good out of an exhume? or something even pretty good, like a decent 4-drop? I understand the lack of a tacked-on enchantment is also great, but dance provides additional utility without risking free value for the opponent.
I cut Innocent Blood and Diabolic Edict, and kept Chainer's Edict. It's really unfortunate that it's sorcery speed, because you can super often miss your chance to hit hard. BUT The card advantage built in is very nice, enough to persuade me based on playtesting. Also I have a pimp version that I wanted to use. But they are all quite good. Do you support stax? If you do, play Smallpox before any of these. Even without much support, you can play around the downsides kind of like Balance and make it super powerful.
Exhume scares me, I don't want to get goozled. Dance seems great, especially the "any" clause making it straight playable outside of reanimator. Unburial Rites is good and can be Entombed, but it's just so expensive.
I think i was reading somewhere that no modern red mythic was above $10, so if I was a smart man I'd still wait on it.
Red Mythics worth over $10:
Kiki-Jiki
Sneak Attack
Red RARES worth over $10:
Goblin Guide
umm....
Okay yeah true. BUT I'd rather lose $5-7 now then wait until Q2 2018 for Kaladesh to rotate out. There's a second listing for $17.60 Chandra right now.
For those of you that are concerned about price, Chandra is currently ~$18 due to relatively little pro tour play, and is continuing to drop. I'd pick one up before any new cards are spoiled. I was able to snag a listing on TCGplayer just now at $17.74.
I really think its a good card but its like the 5th best red 5 drop after SGC, the dragon, the mirror breaker, and conscripts.
Yup! Mirror-Breaker is more of a choice, while Thundey and SCG are more mandatory. I cut Conscripts recently, it's not essential at 360 I don't think. If my cube was bigger and had another 5-drop slot, this would probably go in no question.
Really surprised we have no thread to at least considerSpark of Creativity at any size!
What's it do? Important notes?
-Target a creature, weighing your average CMC in your deck against your options (often likely to target a slightly weaker creature, hey, it's still 1 mana)
-Exile the top card of your library (both you and your opponent see the card)
-Using that information, decide if you'd like to case the exiled card/play the exiled land, OR deal damage to the targeted creature. Keep in mind the "until end of turn" makes this card very safe... you can hold your 5th land in hand until you see what got exiled. Land? Play it from exile. 6 drop? Play your land like normal and cast that boy!
Best case scenario:
Land: You find the land you desperately needed, and maintain card parity for a deficit of 1 mana.
Card: You reveal a card big enough to kill an important creature, and you get to make the decision to cast it or kill.
Worst case scenario:
Land: It's like a really really bad explore... but you maintain card parity if you didn't play a land yet!
Card: It's too expensive for you to play this turn, or you don't want to play it yet. You targeted a creature that is STILL too big to be killed. Really? Damn.
There is no weird red gamble effect here. You are exiling the card, seeing it, and making an informed decision. Lastly, I am noticing that this is a deceptive one-drop. Any deck that isn't super aggro should avoid casting this before the first couple of turns. Wait until turn 3-5 so that you (probably) have enough mana to cast an average card. But overall this only seems fantastic in good aggro... and maybe hyper control late game?
I've heard tales of the power of the Forge God, but finding a slot at 360 is quite hard, as even token strategies themselves are slightly less focused, leaning more towards weenie or aggro builds with token support. I may try him in the future.
I am closest to a Deist, believing that there MUST be more after human death. Something. As long as I believe that, I can sleep at night and go to the movies and play magic with friends and be totally fine! Also, ditto to the moral compass comment.
I adore this card for many different decks I own and will pick one up, but I'm honestly having a difficult time understanding why everyone here is immediately slamming this in without too much discussion. It picks up your other great aggro/midrangey creatures, and even a combo piece or two. But I just can't shake paying 2W (ESPECIALLY with so many good white 3 drops) for a 1/1 and a similar creature card. It just kind of hurts to tack on 3 more mana to your good cards in an aggressive deck, and without testing I keep feeling I'd rather have any removal spell or decent-bodied creature. With testing I will probably turn around on it, but for 360 I imagine it doesn't feel good to cast.
Quick one: Exhume vs. Dance of the Dead vs. Unburial Rites (in a black slot)?
Exhume scares me, I don't want to get goozled. Dance seems great, especially the "any" clause making it straight playable outside of reanimator. Unburial Rites is good and can be Entombed, but it's just so expensive.

Ah, forgot about Abrupt Decay! I think I would rather put Pulse anyway, but it's worth considering.
Also, steve_man great point. I'm still trying to find a spot for Heir.
Currently I have:
Deathrite Shaman
Pernicious Deed
Vraska the Unseen
Putrefy
I want to switch out Putrefy for either Maelstrom Pulse or Lotleth Troll. Thoughts?

hard to rank the others...
Disciple of Bolas
Gonti, Lord of Luxury
Graveborn Muse? Muse has never looked good to me. Hell, Gravecrawler's already difficult to bring back in 360.
