Did they give any explanation as to why they banned double sleeving, or was it just "because"?

If you dont ruin your cards, you dont buy new ones? :p

If not, draft pairints by hand is easy as pie Smile

I go to the same LGS as you :). One thing I've noticed is that it doesn't offer to break large notes into smaller denominations, so if I want to buy a $4 card from another player and only have a $50 note (and he doesn't have $46 change, as it often happens), I have to buy a drink or something first to get change. Is this just standard practice to earn more money?

It's just inconvenient for me to leave home with a bunch of small change for situations like these.

Maybe it is to prevent you from selling/buying stuff from eachother - its kind of disrespectfull to do business with a third party...

That'd be a bargain. Considering how many judge foils end up kept by the said judge, this would be one that would take an awful lot for some of them to get rid of. Think Maze of Ith... I see these being $100 easily.

Not true, many judges keep a set for themself - but most of us end up getting so many of theese foils, and plane tickets to events arent exactly free Wink

And a large portion just sells everything without exception...

Does anyone know when new judge promos will be coming out?

I know Flusterstorm and Xiou Dun were given out to the Worlds team, but I Q'd as an L1 at GenCon in August, right after the Dark Confidant was mailed out.

I didn't become a judge to get judge promos or anything, but it is a cool reward for the hard work that we all put in.

New foils enter rotation with each Pro Tour and then continue in the regular rotation for rougly one year

Same here, It is really all you need for casual or fnm.

Its really all you need for Judging a Pro Tour to :p

That app has the full CR, MTR and IPG + Full oracle for all printed cards - if you dont mind reading on a phone screen (of if you have an iPad) then its probably your best bet... but be vary, i wouldnt suggest many people to just sit down and read the rules cover to cover unless you are studying for a judge exam, pick the "important" sections and read those, you really wont get much use out of all of it...

Why should the fact that you have the cards online make any difference in whether to allow proxies or not?

Either you allow it, or you dont

  • posted a message on How do you qualify for big tournaments?
    Quote from Wickeddealer
The only events you have to qualify to compete in are Pro Tours, Worlds & Nationals. Anyone can compete in a Grand Prix. The ways to qualify for pro tours is winning PTQ's. For Nationals its winning Regionals. Back before wizards changed the point system you could qualify for these events through rating, something you may still be able to do with competitive points under the Planswalker Point System.

Note: if you are in a country outside of North America you likely qualify for Nationals through NatQ's - not Regionals Smile

I believe that's almost correct, as Commander isn't legal in Modern, which is an Eternal format.

Commander isnt an eternal format, the eternal formats are the one with "all the cards printed" in them...

This is the reason I HATE cutting decks. I don't want people touching my cards! I shuffle compulsively! I don't need someone else doing it for me!

I would never accept not being allowed to shuffle your deck, i would be to paranoid and certain you where cheating - by riffling it once or twice myself i can put that thought out of my head and start blaming good / bad luck instead of wondering if you are a dirty cheat...

Sure i will be gentle and not violently U-shape your deck - but im gonna shuffle, and im gonna both 'Riffle' and 'Mash'... that has nothing to do with bad ethics

Parallels and MTGO isnt the best of friends honestly, i have seen plenty of people trying out virtulization to run MTGO on a mac, and often they end up switching to a pure dual-boot instead of running both OS's at once...

something to represent your tokens is manditory. wotc printed tokens are not.

But you have to be able to represent when they are tapped - which can be hard with Dice or coins for example

That will mainly hurt your Local TO, and almost not WOTC at all, dont forget that cutting business will always hurt the retail link first and hardest...
