If anything Doubling Season at mythic in a super niche set is going to push the price up. What a joke. They still haven't learned.

Show and Tell, Berserk, and Mirari's Wake went down and two of them are played in non Commander formats and the last one is played in Commander.

There is way more demand for Doubling Season than for any of those. Don't get too caught up in the formats, Doubling Season is a casual all-star and one of the most popular kitchen table cards. Those three cards were expensive due to a lack of supply, not any particular demand. Doubling Season already got a recent reprint and that couldn't keep the price down.

The notion that design is going to "suffer" because Wizards is changing gendered pronouns to "they" is pure fantasy. In fact, it's so unbelievably stupid that I have to assume anyone making that argument is either intentionally trying to muddy the waters or is completely blinded by ideology.

If anything, the change is going to open up new design space as "their" takes up less text space on a card than "his or her" especially in multiples.

I watch the video's of Rudy everytime. And i like them. Just as i like all other channels that make video's about mtg.

But all of them have one thing in common.

You can not take everything they say for real.

Obviously. Everyone who watches Rudy’s channel knows you can’t take him seriously. He’s even a self-proclaimed scum bag, but he is entertaining.

Now, it’s pretty obvious too, that the real peeve EstravenEternal has towards Rudy has nothing to do with this box openings, but instead he/she/they/(insert other here) hates that Rudy did not push his/her/their/(insert other here) agenda in his videos, but instead expressed a sentiment many mtg players have, which is, to have Wizards focused on the game instead of ideology.

And you know what, Rudy and everybody else who shares that view are entitled to feel this way and express themselves. And doing that is not spreading hate towards LGBTQRWHTYD or whatever.

EstravenEternal seems to be the type of person that if you disagree with him/her/them/(insert other here) or think differently, than you automatically hate him/her/them/(insert other here). And that is the typical hypocritical stance coming from those pushing inclusion and demanding open-mindedness and acceptance of people with different ideas.

Also, presenting as fact, without showing any evidence, that a “ gender neutral product does not affect any binary person” is dishonest, and you know what, if designers are focused on pushing ideology instead of actually game design, then that really hurts the game, because, you know, the purpose of a game is to be a game, not a vehicle to push agendas.

Having said all that, I don’t hate EstravenEternal or anyone, and no one should be harassed because of gender, but just because you feel harassed that doesn’t always mean you are being harassed.

    Warned for trolling.

Well, the entire political thing with Hasbro Corp. And their gender equality directives is a different subject. That isn't a WoTC problem as much as an entire movement sweeping through the toy industry and entertainment industry as a whole for the last three years at least.

Yeah golly I wonder why corporations would be interested in broadening their products' appeal? Anyone who thinks the trend of inclusiveness is some big SJW conspiracy or whatever is absolutely deluded. Companies want to sell their ***** to more people. More people will buy their ***** if they don't feel excluded. It's real simple, and getting undies twisted over something so meaningless and irrelevant is pathetic.

If there is one thing 25 years of Magic has shown us it's that there is no hoop too big to jump through for free mana. Mox Amber will be playable in something at some point.

Question #2: Am I right in that having Firesong and Sunspeaker on the battlefield turns Lightning Helix into a 15point life swing?

It's both red and white so gets bot benefits, it gets lifelink from FaS' first ability as well as specifically gaining you life, triggering FaS' second ability twice? for 3+3+3 damage and 3+3 life?

I'm pretty sure it would based on: 603.2c An ability triggers only once each time its trigger event occurs. However, it can trigger repeatedly if one event contains multiple occurrences.

Pokemon and YuGiOh print and reprint cards to "oblivion" but I have not seen those games diminishing in sales or popularity.

Serious question - do those games have a lot of players who have been playing for well over a decade, or are they primarily still popular because they’re turning on a new generation of players at least as fast as they’re losing players by attrition? It would explain the differences in reprint attitude if a substantial portion of the Magic player base is players who have been around for a decade or two and own a lot of older stuff they hope retains value, while the bulk of poke/yugi players are a newer younger generation less likely to have entrenched themselves in a decade of speculative value.

No idea, but I'm certainly not still in Magic after over 20 years because my collection has accumulated in value. If anything, the ridiculous prices on singles makes me frustrated and annoyed when I want to try new decks that I don't have cards for. My first Magic set was Fallen Empires and I've been playing off and on ever since. I stick with Magic because it's a brilliant game, not because of my """investment""" or collection's value. I'd be even happier if my collection was worthless and I could try out a new deck for less than a mortgage payment.

Also yes I'm not going to be holding my breath for any fetchlands in challenger decks even if they do get reprinted in Standard. I suspect that's not likely to happen.

Why not? We had a Verdant Catacombs in one M12 Event Deck, Vampire Onslaught, and we had a Windswept Heath in the Origins Clash Pack, Armed and Dangerous. We've had them before in similar products why not again?

The Modern Event Deck had a MSRP of more than double the challenger decks, and the Clash Pack was basically completely junk aside from the Heath and a Collected Company. The point about the green/black challenger deck having Foul Orchards is more relevant.

Sorry to tell you these lands are like 2€ in europe.

That is FAR , VERY VERY FAR, from any "creep up in price" as it possible could be.

So the argument is completely pointless

Ah yes, Europe: the only market that matters. Got it. Well, even though the North American market is irrelevant, they're all sitting between $5-10 USD and trending upward. I support anything that keeps playable lands under $10 USD, as pointless as that may be to Europeans.

Money-wise the lands are a big letdown too, these lands are cheap as dirt, no "need" for reprints even too.

This isn't a Masters set. It's a Standard set. The purpose isn't to get needed reprints out there. It's to establish the cardpool for the Standard environment.

I think printing the Innistrad checklands is a severely missed opportunity, and the only thing I actively don't like about Dominaria so far. I didn't want them to reprint something expensive, I'm just severely disappointed that our return to Dominaria didn't have something new. With all of the focus on history, why aren't we getting a legendary land cycle based around famous named locations?

Functionally, I was really expecting some kind of ETB tappd rare land cycle that also had a ton of utility a la Alliances, or maybe even new man lands. Painlands, at the very least, would have been on point, flavor-wise, with the plane of Dominaria. The checklands just really, really don't do it for me, and are about as boring of a choice as we could get...particularly considering that we already have the allied cycle in Ixalan.

I completely disagree. There are only so many possible good dual lands out there, and they've been pumping out a lot of new cycles lately. The Innistrad lands aren't obscenely expensive, but they're starting to creep up in price and they're very well balanced. It's a perfect time to reprint them, before the price can get to the ridiculous heights where people will start acting like they're entitled to be at a high value forever.

This set doesn't miss the mark, its MSRP does. No more $10 packs. That's the real problem here.

Somehow I doubt that they couldn't even find 5 superfluous cards to cut for slivers considering how popular they are. Like is every single draft common a necessary and beloved reference? Eh, doesn't bother me too much, but the excuse seems weak.

Magic's storyline has never been brilliant, but I definitely prefer the period between Invasion and the Gatewatch when every block was a mostly self-contained story centred on the plane and the main Planeswalker characters were in the background. You could dive deeper if you wanted, or you could just enjoy the world building, which has always been the strongest part of Magic's story. Now the Gatewatch are front and centre and it's hard to avoid the cringey story nonsense.

No need to make fun of Jeremy. You can acknowledge he's a miserable toxic git without making fun of him.
