Yeah, Time Spiral is beloved by entrenched players. I wonder if there is room for a supplemental product on Dominaria. Similar to the Masters sets except it is built just for drafting, with new cards along with reprints and a larger print run. Time Spiral-like sets are not fit to be a main set, but I am sure there is a market for a smaller supplemental set.

A master planner doesn't plan for exactly how things turn out. They build it to be adaptive and work out when things go wrong. Of course that is human chessmasters. For a super-intelligent dragon, I imagine his plans predict many potential outcomes. It only appears convuluted because that is the series of events that led to it. Everything that could go wrong as they say. I imagine he had back ups and alternatives for his master plan. The reason they take so long is because he prepares for every eventuality.

My problem with DTK is that it's one of those rare moments where the story team had an adverse effect on the gameplay of a set. When I think "dragon set", I expect dragons up the wazoo. However, with their "no baby dragons" ban came less design space for smaller, cheaper, more common dragons, and thus the dragon tribal component was only half present.

Yes this is exactly it. They could have even printed non-dragons that cared about you having a dragon in play. ex) 2/2 for 2 that gets +1/+1 if you control a dragon. Plus them all being big meant they were all rather interchangable. And very few were aggressively costed. Foe-Razor Regent was just disappointing.

    I can't believe we're back to Eldrazi

I can't believe the Gatewatch is gonna save the day again

This came to mind: this is not Zendikar. The Gatewatch can't bind Emrakul the way they did the other two.
I doubt that Sorin will let them imprison Emrakul on Innistrad.
That being said, the best that they can do is to destroy the avatar, which is fine with me.
But I have a feeling that no one of great significance will die and the eldrazi titan will again fail to
pose any real threat to the Gatewatch.

The Gatewatch may get mind-controlled by Emrakul.

How interesting would it be if the 4-color commanders were hybrid costs that let you play them as a heavily 2-color deck if you wanted to?
    Like a cost of 2(B/R)(B/R)(G/W)(G/W)

the strange outcome of this would be the layout. until now hybrid cards have the "calor-fade" layout between 2 colors and not the classic gold layout of multicolor, a card with more than one hybrid mana should go with a 3-4 color fade? or the gold one?

I'm still more inclined with 3 set of commander for each deck (like older commanders precon):
    • main commander with a classic 4 color cost like nephalim UBRG
    • secondary commander in 2 color casting with 2 off-color activated ability (like UB with G activated and R activated)
    • secondary commander in the opposite 2 color casting with off color hybrid triggered (like RG with a U/B mana triggered Alesha-style)

This seems right, and I would enjoy this. But the colour pairs would have to be ally-center pair and enemy-edge pair. Or else they would all have ally hard cost.

I haven't seen any confirmation. Only text on a post that anyone could have written. Show me the proof and I will acknowledge it is confirmed. That thread is a bunch of people circle-jerking with no actual evidence.

To each their own. That leak has been endorsed by a very well respected member. In any case, we will know in three days.

Yeah, and that Eternal Masters list was endorsed by a mod. Doesnt mean it is true. Regardless, it isnt confirmed until there is explicit proof, anything else is rumors.

You mean the April Fools joke on April 1st that they said was the website's April Fool's joke?

My point is that just because someone vouches for it, does not mean it is true. The reasons are irrelevant. All the evidence they have provided is text typed out with no actual evidence, and someone I dont know and have no reason to trust "verifying" it.

    Has he lost his spark?

If so, I'd say it would be pretty cool. If not I think we would see a new PW version of him.

Lots of people hate Eldrazi, what if his +1 was exile target Eldrazi?

That is correct. As long as they have a spark, they will have a planeswalker card.

Neither Nahiri nor Sorin are yet aware that the Ulamog or Kozilek are dead.

Nahiri believes that the Eldrazi are unstoppable now that the Hedron Network was disrupted, and her home is mostly destroyed. The shock of seeing her home in waste after 1000 years of isolation has driven her to vengeance, since she believes her world is lost.

We have no reason to think that Nahiri is working to sacrifice Innistrad for the multiverse, it is simply an old-fasioned revenge story.

Nahiri and Sorin are both in the wrong here. Sorin was a dick and dismissive towards his oath to Nahiri. Nahiri is trying to get revenge. Neither one is right or wrong, they are both players attempting to accomplish their goals.

After doing some heavier reading into the story line, including the superhero Planeswalkers, along with chatting with some of my mates about the story and its effect, I've come to this conclusion: It's not as bad as I thought.

I still think that killing off of two Eldrazi titans with little effort was very lame, but I've come to see the Planeswalker team-up as LotR style fiction. Bringing together multiple characters (with different skills) in order to tell an overarching story line that will likely break down into smaller groups of sub-stories isn't a bad way of telling said story. Plus superheroes are very popular at the moment, financially WotC is betting on a good trend - though there are blokes like me who are disenfranchised by super-movies these days, many people still love 'em.

I'm still a bit rough about it, but I'm willing to see where it all goes. There are nitpicks I don't like, but there is always nitpicks in life. I'd rather just try to enjoy the ride then derail it all the time with my complaints. I am very glad that WotC publishes short stories on their official site; very much enjoyed reading the one between Nahiri and Sorin - the vampire is such an ass. Hope that bloodsucker gets a good walloping. I'd prefer it if Nahiri ended him, but alas the character is too popular for WotC to attempt such a move. More than likely Nahiri is the one going to bite* it.

    * Yes, pun intended.

They were not killed off with little effort. The initial plan failed, and they almost consumed all of Zendikar. Only Chandra's hail mary allowed them to win. And she ended up crippled from channeling that much mana, in addition to the somewhat depleted mana of Zendikar.

Nahiri is not just mad, she is past the point of despair. She didn't help on Zendikar because she thought there was no way to save it. The Hedron Network was down, the Eldrazi loose, and Bala Ged was laid waste. She believes her world is beyond saving and is instead focusing herself towards the person responsible: Sorin Markov.

Wonder how she's gonna handle the news that Zendikar is saved and recovering...

I imagine Jace will use this to talk her down. Once she learns that Zendikar is saved, she may return to restore it.

Now I need an explanation as to why Nahiri is accepting to cause harm to thousands of innocent lives so she can bring her vengeance upon Sorin. The innocent have nothing to do with her quarrel with Sorin.

I think it's pretty simple: As far as Nahiri can tell, Zendikar is pretty much lost already, a whole plane devoured out of mana. So she needs another one to seal the Eldrazi in. In her own mind, she's not "harming thousands of innocents", she's saving the Multiverse the same way Sorin and Ugin did the first time around with the Eldrazi. The ultimate W mentality: Sacrifice the few for the many.

The fact she just happened to find a perfectly suitable plane that she wanted to annihilate anyway is just a cute bonus. Smile

EDIT: Just thought of something. Nahiri studied the Helvault throughly as she waited for Sorin, and probably knows how it works, correct? Well, it's mainly made of moon silver, as they already pointed out.
What if she turns the moon itself into a giant Helvault? Thus, she will attempt to seal Emrakul in there. She probably knows very well the consequences will be dire, as they were in Zendikar with the Roil. Thus, sealing Emrakul there, she creates a moon that resonates the very same madness that afflicted the Innistradians... an Eldritch Moon.
    #tinfoilhats

Nahiri isn't trying to imprison the Eldrazi on Innistrad. She is going for straight on vengeance. Besides the fact that she doesn't have the knowledge to lure the Eldrazi to Innistrad, that was Ugin's contribution.
