it would allow me to in theory play more singletons and I'd have a good chance to sculpt a better hand plus its an artifact so I can have a card that is good out side of just being pitched to thirst for knowledge plus it helps set up miracles, I just over all want more powerful things to do in modern and I feel scroll rack doesn't push the limits but honestly it would get banned in 3 months because moderns not allowed nice things but that's an entirely different argument.
Yeah modern's not allowed nice things. They're only allowed mean things.

If you plan on playing Narset in a control list and don't drop her until turn 6-7, why not just cast Elspeth then? Narset has zero board presence. Her +1 is not guaranteed CA, and it would need to be activated about three times just to get even or to get actual value out of it. Narset is not a bad card by any means, but she is not meant for UW control. As previously stated by another poster, what are you going to be able to rebound realistically anyway? Control has plenty of instants that don't function well with her -2 ability at all, and Dig Through Time is something you rather cast EOT. Domri's advantage was that he had a cheap CMC, could be ramped into and even drew into finishers which doubled up as defense. Narset can't do any of those things, and for control her +1 is just too unreliable. Is she playable? Sure. Is she playable in UW control? No, I am pretty certain that she is not. If UW control is dying for a CMC4 card they will play their respective Command.

My advice don't buy into the hype of Narset, because the many dreamland scenarios of people on here are outright ridiculous.
You need to calm down with the quote pyramids. And calling out "dreamland scenarios". The only ridiculous claims are from the people who don't understand rebound. Rebounding Treasure Cruise is perfectly feasible. Anyway, "Why not just cast X Planeswalker instead" is a lame argument. I'm playing Narset because I'd rather cast Narset. In a control deck, Narset represents a permanent source of card advantage. Elspeth is more of a "tap out and hope it wins me the game" card. Narset plays into the control mindset by being cheap enough to save till later while still being relevant that late (hence the stoned-level loyalty). She would fit pretty well into superfriends for sure. I ask you this: what control deck cares about board presence? From when I first started playing, control has always been about card advantage and wars of attrition. Whoever gets the most cards to use wins. If I cast a turn 6 Narset and you cast a turn 6 Elspeth, you can bet that next turn I'm rebounding Hero's Downfall-if I didn't already have disdainful stroke to hit Elspeth. Narset isn't too much of a stretch in a control deck at all. I firmly believe that Esper Control will be a thing again post-DTK and Narset will be a main source of card advantage (not that I enjoyed playing against it last time it was a thing. Screw Prognostic Sphinx).

I am not convinced about her playability.

+1: This ability is way worse than that of Domri Rade. Understand that a Siege Rhino/Wingmate Roc T4 is a far better play than Narset ever will be, add to that her chance to whiff and you just wasted your entire turn doing nothing while the opponent has some gruesome threats out. On average you'll probably have to spend ~three turns just to break even or come out on top. Elspeth has Narset beat as the UW control walker.

-2: This ability can be okay in some situations. The dreamland scenario of "Huehue this with Cruise is so insane!!" is simply not realistic. You're saying you will hold your Cruise back just to try and make Narset a little bit better? That is rather ridiculous. I'd rather cast Cruise when I can, instead of having to durdle around by casting Narset first and lose a significant amount of tempo.

Narset might be a high loyalty planeswalker, but that means nothing (See Jace, the Living Guildpact). She doesn't impact the board at all. The fact that Narset is unable to win the game all by herself makes her +1 significantly worse as well, as you would have to run some creature spells and these add to the chance of a whiff. Elspeth simply has her beat as a control walker. Like it or not.

    Narset is way overrated.

Tee hee, you make me laugh. You assume that Narset will be a turn 4 play (which probably isn't optimal in most cases without a shell; I assume we're looking at it in a vacuum here). Second of all, if you did play Narset on turn 4, she would survive through both of those cards. Also the way you word it makes it seem like you want them in the same deck! Second of all, you act like Treasure Cruise is a 1 drop. Even if Cruise was a 1 drop, it still wouldn't be played on turn 1. That's not what it's for. Let's pretend you were playing some sort of delve deck with a few treasure cruise. By turn 4 you'd conceivably have 5 or 6 cards in your yard, depending on whether you drew fetches or not. Turn 5 you cast Narset, -2, and Treasure Cruise. With the expenditure of 2 cards and 5 mana, you just drew 6. I fail to see how that is "overrated". Last I checked Tidings was a pretty good card. This is better than Tidings. Finally, there's high loyalty (see Jace, the Living Guildpact), then there's stoned loyalty (See Narset). The difference being what Wizards was smoking while designing the card. Assuming you've been able to keep the board fairly clear the past few turns (Counterspells, Stance, what have you) when Narset comes out it would take a LOT of resources to kill her. As for not being able to win the game by herself, I say poo. Card advantage wins games. It's been proven. She gives card advantage. She's a 4 drop. She's pretty hard to kill immediately. She will be put in a few standard archetypes. She'll probably be a 15-20 dollar card for quite some time though.

Please note that Hero's Downfall being a card means nothing.

I'm not sure why anyone is surprised Narset is UW. :p It seemed pretty obvious that she would be (plus a 3 color walker here would just be weird) imo.
Either way, Narset combos pretty hardcore with Monastery Siege dragon-style. All of a sudden downfall costs too much for them, meaning there's pretty much no way for them to kill Narset before you untap!

I'm an intermediate MTG player, been playing for 2 years. My favorite format is any Limited format, my favorite Constructed format is EDH/Commander (to each his own), and my preference for Standard is weird decks that play around the format, yet I have the experience to realize that 8/10 times it doesn't work. Mainly signed up to ask questions about said weird rogue decks, along with a bit of constructive criticism to make the deck immune to Constructed criticism.
    Hi.

Cards with foil stamps are probably the promos for playing the dumb dice game
and that's what the switch from "basic land" to "land" probably meant in the article-the Evolving Wilds
