Well, according to the published standings for day 1, Thomas made day 2 with a 7-2 record (21 points).

We'll probably get a good tournament report from him in a couple days.

Nice deck tech with NoSnapYoloKozilek! Kept it interesting from start to end (SCG deck techs are usually semi-embarrassing) - http://www.starcitygames.com/events/coverage/monoblue_tron_with_thomas_pend.html

(added to the Primer - not the most common list, but very useful as explanation of the whole deck concept and wincons)

I don't know, a hard counter for sorceries sounds quite good to me. The other modes aren't at all bad either. It also answers Twin creatures for colorless mana. I feel less and less like Dismember is necessary now that we are getting two new colorless removal spells.

Sure, but my point is: is it MD material for this deck? That's what I'm really iffy about. If it is, what should it replace?

The thing is, even though Warping Wail can counter sorceries, well, we already play "real" countermagic. That's why I think this is be better for Gr Tron than for U Tron. It's conditional removal + a bad counter (for a blue deck) + a useless third mode. For Gr Tron it provides something they just don't have access to.

It's really hard to think about some card I would like to remove from this deck to add Warping Wail. All the countermagic is better and even though we don't have access to "real" removal (outside Dismember), 1/x or x/1 creatures are not really the issues this deck has.

Warping Wail seems way better on Gr Tron since they get to play a counter for LD. Don't think U Tron needs that. The removal mode is okay though. Honestly I have no strong opinions on that card for this deck.

Matter Reshaper is interesting. When I first saw the spoiler I thought it might even replace Solemn, since it costs less. The issue is Solemn doesn't need to die to provide value, while this guy has to. So if you play against decks that aren't attacking you, it's hard to extract value from the card.

Hello U Tron! So, I haven't played MtG in a while and just decided to take a look at how things are now.

Since I'm still the thread "owner", do you want me to add something to the Primer? I don't see a lot of new lists or tech around, this deck hasn't received much love from Wotc lately I guess.

Not a fan of the Banefire/Demonfire style of wincon here. It was used on old UR Tron (Kamigawa/Ravnica Standard) because you also played stuff like Meloku and the dragons, so Demonfire would provide reach to finish games. Here we usually don't do a lot of damage until we use Through the Breach.

I'd say yes, Tar Pit is really important for the deck. The Scry from Temple is nice too, but a lot of times Tar Pit is your main win con after both yours and your opponent's resources are depleted and you need to push the final points of damage.

Nah, Jace is okay only. It was used massively when Abzan was a monster in the metagame. People think it was because "it generates CA", but it was really because you could blank Lingering Souls. Paying 4 mana, -2'ing it and watching it die when you pass isn't the best of investments.

It has some synergy with Delve and Snapcaster though, which we can't ignore. But I'd rather play Mulldrifter.

Jace AoT is an anti-Lingering Souls card. Its -2 isn't that great against Jund (or actually anything that can burn or attack it consistently).

You want to side out bad top decks (like discard and Mana Leak) and add bombs (Wurmcoil, Keranos, Fulminator should be ok, etc). Chapin himself even sided out all the Delve creatures to board in Keranos and Batterskull, so YMMV.

My gut feeling says that card is awful in Modern. It's slow and requires a lot of "maintenance" by the format standards. But I'm not a great card evaluator so take that with a huge grain of salt.

Keeping Cryptic against 3-4 Dispels is usually bad. The card can still be "valuable" of course (it's a pretty good card), but you're taking a lot of risk on a very poor trade.

If your opponent is Bolting your Snapcaster, you already got value from it, so that's fine (I guess they're pretty desperate if they're bolting your 2/1 too). If they're Bolting your mana intensive 4-drop with 3 toughness, you'll fall behind. The difference is enormous and pretty clear. It's not a valid comparison.

Jund sometimes play a 1-of Olivia (with some lists playing 2 in the 75) as a grindy mana sink for their 25 land deck. This deck is a different beast. Olivia could be fine as a SB option, but I don't see the need for it.

Heh, giving an opponent 7 cards and passing the turn in a format like this is suicidal with this kind of deck.

Cards like Inifinite Oblitaration are usually garbage. It's pure card disadvantage. If an opponent is boarding that against this deck to remove Snapcaster I'll be happy.
