I have run a very strong Zirilan of the Claw EDH. It's very narrow of course, but since this is about winning, Zirilan does that. I took the deck apart some time ago because it was opressively strong in my local meta and I found the deck too consistent (always searching for the same most powerful dragons lead to the same experience every time).
I'm playtesting Intet, the Dreamer dragon tribal right now.
I am also overhauling Zedruu the Greathearted into a more voltron style deck, the control version was too durdly for my taste.
Lastly I threw together a list of cards that would be sweet with Alesha, Who Smiles at Death, but I went a little overboard and now I'm at 165/100 cards. Now comes the hard part, the culling...
Larsson really deserved it though. Wasn't sure who to root for. Sigrist sure had the more interesting deck, but I'm happy with this outcome.
Regarding the meta, I agree that red has been strong for a few month now, but green has been dominating since Mono-B and Mono-U rotated out of standard.
Do not start with multiplayer games and do not start with a singleton format. Both immensely increase the complexity of boardstate and represented threats/answers. Start playing with easy to handle 40 or 60 card decks. I have a W/B Exalted deck build exclusively with M13 cards that is very easy to pilot which still has some sweet lines of play. It focuses on attacking and blocking and resource management as basics of the game. I recommend it to anyone trying to introduce players to magic or teach them fundamentals. It has a little of everything represented in a very simple way. You can pick up the entire deck for 15-20 bucks.
Split Second
Destroy all permanents that effect more than one target. If a permanent affects all permanents, creatures, and/or lands, destroy all cards that share a type with it.
I dont think this works. "affect" is an unused term in magic rulings and only appears in reminder text. The game can only check if something is targeting multiple things, or has the same name as multiple things etc. Besided, your card would be rediculously busted

That's an interesting view on it GfireflyE, I agree to a point hat we are getting too many legendary creatures but i have a stipulation in that. We are getting too many legendary creatures without a story. Daretti, scrap savant, all of the Commander set legends actually (minus some of the planeswalkers) have no story to them and I feel that Wizards needs to incorporate them into the story line more like they did with the weatherlight saga but I share your sentiment slightly.
While I agree that having a fleshed out story for each legendary would be nice, I'm glad that Wizards is not forcing themselves to adapt their design for Commander product legendaries to some story, which would be limit design space for mechanics and flavor. Most legendaries in normal sets ARE tied into the story, many of which turn out not to be very good as commanders (Alhammarret, High Arbiter, Dragonlord Kolaghan). In the auxilary products and Commander products I'd much rather have interesting legendaries without much background that are fun to build around than legendaries with designs forced by story.
