May 23, 2019Not gonna lie, this does not make me happy. Shes strong for sure but also super lame.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
Please tell me people will not just build ye ole superfriends/good stuff deck where they tutor up everything and every game plays out the same. Yeah, not gonna happen.
Hard pass for me.

Not sure this is gonna be cheap. It is still a rare in a $6-per-pack product. I wish this was an uncommon. Easy include in all my EDh decks.

May 17, 2019schnerbst posted a message on What are your thoughts on black is gonna learn how to remove enchantmentI am curious how they flavor this. Black removal has always been about killing living things which ssems off with enchantments.Posted in: Magic General
Something like countercurses or some kind of blood magic that requires life payment maybe. I would like to see black explore life payment mechanics more.
Generally speaking, its a good thing to have a third color be able to combat enchantments. They always felt least vurnerable.

Creature - Human Cleric
Whenever another creature enters the battlefield, you gain 1 life.
Whenever another creature leaves the battlefield, each opponent looses 1 life.

May 15, 2019What are your expectations of the mana base? Whats your budget? It heavily depends on both.Posted in: Magic General
I have a 5c deck with a super budget mana base, but I run a lot of green for ramp and fixing. It works pretty well.
- Terramorphic Expanse & Evolving Wilds
- Exotic orchard
- Path of Ancestry
- Mystic monastery (cycle of 10 3-color lands)
- Vivid Crag (cycle of 5 charge-counter lands)
- Chromatic Lantern + Trophy Mage & Fabricate
- Cultivate & Kodama's Reach (and similar)
- Commander's Sphere (and similar)
If you got the monies:
May 15, 2019I really hope we do not get more 4-color stuff and I don't expect we will. It's just so unfocussed and lacks multifacetted flavor.Posted in: Speculation
Finishing the 2-color cycle would be cool I guess, although I don't know if another (potentially busted) experience counter cycle would be the way to go.
In terms of what color combinations need it the most, wedges are least populated, especially Jeskai. They somehow never got a legend outside the jeskai commander deck and Kahns block (I'm ignoring partners here).

Legendary Artifact Creature - Golem
When ~ enters the battlefield, destroy all other artifacts. Put a +1/+1 on ~ for each artifact destroyed this way.
When ~ leaves the battlefield, create a colorless Magnet artifact token with: "t, sacrifice this artifact: Target nonland permanent becomes an artifact in addition to its other types until end of turn."

May 10, 2019I recommend Mayael the Anima its super proactive, very fun to play and can be adjusted to fit any powerlevel (outside cEDH). It's also a great deck to give to people who are new to EDH. Spinning the wheel is just so satisfying.Posted in: Commander (EDH)
Edit: Also, Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer. Super explosive, very proactive and also not overplayed, most people never played against a Brudiclad deck before. FOr a deck that wins through the attack step, it plays a lot of unusual cards. By far the funnest decks I have build in the last year.
May 8, 2019I think it depends on what your goal is. If its power level or performance, yeah I think its possible to finish a deck, although for me that would mean its no longer a "work in progress" as opposed to "never change a card again". However I like to change around my decks a lot, tweak themes, include new subthemes, expand on strengths and cover weaknesses... but also cut cards that prove to be opressive or unfun to play against. As long as there is something to be done with a deck, it feels like a living thing to me, yearning for growth and grooming. As soon as a deck is done, its... done. Kinda dead.Posted in: Commander (EDH)
Apr 16, 2019Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from Yandere Sliver »Yeah I also would have thought the death count would be higher given that this is a WAR!
Ajani, Jaya, Dovin, Ral Zarek and Sarkhan were all be people who could have died and would have had a good run and decent story arcs. And would have given more oompf to the story. Gideon feels a bit like Elspeth 2.0 so I am actually a bit disappointed with that.
I'm actually quite sad that Gideon dies. Admittedly, he's not a very interesting character, but I liked the idea that his suffering comes from the fact that he is quasi-immortal himself while his friends die around him. I would have preferred if the death of some Gatewatch members would be a recall to Gideon's backstory (Tragic Arrogance) on a bigger and more dramatic scale. THAT would give some edge to him for interesting writing.
Apr 3, 2019Seems in line with what we already know. Nobody likes to play against MLD and cards that impose a hard lock or super harsh penalties/taxes. Cards that stop players from partticipating in the game, in short. I agree.Posted in: Commander (EDH)
Apr 1, 2019This got me good. I saw it late last night when I didn't have my guard up yet for April 1st. I was halfway through creating a thread here when it hit me... I guess all I can do is relish the memories of those 5 minutes of sol ring ban bliss.Posted in: Commander (EDH)
